Decal bleeding : does it bring issues?

Recommended Posts

Hi : )

I have a question about decals :

Other than wasting the good looking of a model,

does the decal bleeding bring some issue to the running of the game?

Something like frame per second, display bugs, ...?

other than being an exceedingly ugly annoyance, it effects nothing

Ok thanks!

That's good news because in my case the 3D model is right.

It's the TGA that bleeds : )

are you sure???

if the tga was defective, it usually turns the entire mesh either transparent or black. Open meshes cause the colors to seep (bleed) along their faces, like paint running down the wall.

might help to know the plane, as a good number of Pasko's old birds do this, as do some DAT birds too

a screenie would help, too.

Yes it's the tga because it was easy to fix the issue : there were pixels just at the edge of the sheet.

It's an un-released new model and, as it seems to be ok like that, I was thinking to work with it...

It would be fun to let people discover by themselves the trick.

that's his new fighter-bomber version, with the fues pylons, isn't it? (Lim-6bis or something like that?)

This version recieved some updates, Daniel did a good job on this bird! The decal bleed seems to be caused by bad tga`s not the model itself.

here is the current look

Here's some screenshots of the trick with the bleeding decals :

The line on the fuselage (and the airbrakes) is made by the number decal, that bleeds horizontaly.

I still think it's a good idea, but it seems that is the final point.

are these your decals (ie: made by you?)

try switching to the stock 3W borts (there are blue ones, too)

if it still bleeds with the stock decals, you have an open mesh.

nice idea ... carrier based mig-15.

It was on purpose, it's not an issue.

To have the number 01 or 81 with a stripe on the fuselage side, and not the other numbers.

It's a accidental discovery, but it can be done for horizontal or vertical stripes around the number.

The idea of the MiG-17K is from Cocas ; )
