[!] A-1H loadout issue during campaign

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have added the A-1H to the "100 missions challenge from Bunyap" and noticed something odd with the loadout ... even if I select no weapon for the wings hardpoints, I still end up with 3 Mk-81 on each wings ....Anyone have seen that issue before? Maybe I messed-up something ... Here's the squadron data from the campaign data.ini :

hmmm ... I just noticed that the AMG-45* and AGM-78A were not AFAIK used by the Spad .. gotta remove them ....

Thanks for any tips/help.

As a hole I think all the ini fo rthe A-1H are messed up. They need to be re-done. They have always been messed up. I will try to look at it this weekend but I am getting ready to release the F-4E-35-MC, the short gun faining F-4E for those who dont know.

I had similar issues with the 'built for myself to see if I could do it' mod of the AD-4N version. There seems to be some strange numbering sequences. Had a hell of a time trying to get the "radar" pod {actually the Ekco pod from the SeaHawk} to show up on the correct pylon. It's only for show....the radar/avionics are from the A4E.

Since Bpao is doing a full version of this, I never released it. I just did it to see if I could. Just as an experiment

Here's a shot:

As you can see, the radar pod is just there for looks.

Can't wait for the real one!

But the loadout and data ini sections for loadout do need some help.

I grew very fond of the A-1H while making the MiG Killer missions for it. So much so that I improved the MarcFighters' skin to be far more correct and released my custom ini at Avsim to make the cockpit usable for air-to-air combat by changing back to the A-4 pit and using a more transparent prop TGA.

This is an outstanding aircraft that deserves to be modeled as well as any other rather than the "officially" released mess.

I got your stuff too Streakeagle and that is what I use most of the time when I fly it. I think all it needs now is the weps fixed and it will be a very very complete package.

Strikeeagle, cool! I didn't know about your released modifications ... I also reverted to the A-4 'pit , the one that come with it is not too usable (yet) ...

Wrench, your Spad looks good :)

I really love that plane, you have such a feeling of "power" when flying it ...

BTW, have any of you found of a way to hide the nose view from the 'pit, but keep the props? It's quiet hard to see

anything when carrier landing ....

I never intended to be an A-1H fan and certainly not to release any mods for it. I was trying to do Vietnam missions for all of the famous MiG kills for the DRV terrain. For some reason, I started with the Vietnam A-1H MiG kill missions and really got into the history.

In the process, I realized how flawed the skin was. I have always been disappointed with MarcFighters' skins lack of decals. The way the A-1H was mapped only amplified the problem: AK would be mirror imaged, so Marc used AA! I spent many nights experimenting with different decal combinations trying to overcome the mesh limits by consolidating decals while not filling up my video ram so much that the game was locking up. I couldn't make it perfect, but I am very happy with the final skin. I got as close to the photos as I could given my limited skinning skills ;)

During flight testing of my missions, I found the A-1H practically unflyable due to cockpit visibility considerations. How are people supposed to fly a plane in combat if they can't even seed through the gunsight/canopy/propellor? Until someone does a proper pit, I find the A-4 pit plenty good enough for hunting MiG-17s :)

Of course, at the time I was doing all of this, I noticed that the latest versions of the A-1H weren't even available for download anywhere. So, I posted the last version released by DO, my revised skin, my solution to the cockpit visibility problems, and my mission packs all around the same time. DO responded promptly with the "5.0" package. I haven't messed with that version at all. Maybe I should do some research and release a 5.0a mod to clean up the remaining problems? Anyhow, it is nice to know someone was actually using my last release :)

When WOV came out, I was disappointed that it didn't come with the A-1H :( It also put a damper on my enthusiasm for making missions. Some day, I will get around to adapting my historical Vietnam mission packages to WOV and finish all the other ones I had planned.

Didn't even touch it, not very motivated at the moment. Kind of bored with SF right now.

Because of the campaign bug? Thanks anyway, when you get a chance to look into it.

There were no credits in the boxed version's manual. But there are in the front

of the Digital Aspirin one from the late Nic Cole.

Yeah, I'm in that one. :)

I like my position in the FB manual better. Right after Stormin Norman...
