Rends Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 In a single mission while watching the Action using F12 key i saw 2 Y-38 taking off from a Kiev class carrier only to hit the sea in the next moment. I'm not sure if i have already read about this problem but couldn't find more informations nor a fix Next on the Nimitz carrier deck i get very low fps about 10 or so. Just the second after leaving the catapult it jumps to 25+. Over iceland i get about 22-35 fps but i already read that the terrain drops fps but i'm more concerned about the carrier deck framerate. My system is a MacMini with 2.5GHz i5 , 16GB Ram and intelHD 4000. I know that the intel HD is the bottleneck but i guess the low carrier fps are cpu related because using the Prozess Monitor software i noticed that the game barely use all cores and cpu usage is around 25 percent when ingame. Just wonder if the "other" NA terrain will fix that carrier fps problem? I currently have EU the Exp2 and NA in a merged install if this helps. Rends Quote
Snailman Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 (edited) For NA try to install the IcelandNA terrain mod (gerwin?), the same one people use with Windows XP. That might help you with FPS. As for Yak-38 you can install my Vertical pack, which fixes the Kiev carriers catapult method.. and you get some more flyables as a side effect)))) Edited December 15, 2013 by Snailman Quote
MigBuster Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 (edited) Yes I use the Gerwin Terrain - you lose the new sea but the FPS will rocket up. The stock SF2NA terrain is 1 big 3D model apparently so it's not good even on my system. The FPS hit on the carrier is likely to be parked aircraft related I would say - so you might have to put up with it - again your hardware isn't up to the task for maxing this out. Rends Posted December 15, 2013 Author Posted December 15, 2013 Snailman, thx for the Yak! Seems to work fine :-) Will try out the other Iceland terrain later but must admit that i love the water. At the moment i reduced object detail to medium and it helps somewhat. Rends Quote
Rends Posted December 15, 2013 Author Posted December 15, 2013 One more question: how do you land at night? Shouldn't the carrier lit like a christmas tree? I hav't tried landing at night yet but at takeoff i didn't notice any lights on deck Quote
MigBuster Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Basically Thirdwire couldn't be bothered to add a little thing like lights - but if you wait a while Quote

MigBuster Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 btw lights and textures for the runways: http://combatace.com/files/file/13865-sf2na-runway-lights-and-textures/ http://combatace.com/files/file/13958-keflavik-nas-lights/ Quote
Rends Posted December 15, 2013 Author Posted December 15, 2013 Whow cool!!! Any idea when it will be ready? Can't wait. And thx for the runway lights link. Will try it out. Quote
Rends Posted December 15, 2013 Author Posted December 15, 2013 Just installed Gerwins Terrain using the mod enabler so i can easily switch between both. Now that's a hard decission. The TW one realy shines on the water and Gerwins on Iceland. Guess i keep both and make the decission mission based which one i use. About FR: On the carrier deck i don't see much difference. Once in air or over Iceland i get around 30 percent more using Gerwins version. Sad that the game doesn't make more use of the multicore.. If could run way better using all cores instead of one. Rends Posted December 18, 2013 Author Posted December 18, 2013 Btw: is there a way that AI use the Rescue Helicopter to take off and such things? Even one with rotating rotor randomly would fit my needs. Quote
MigBuster Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 You might be able to script such a thing in a custom single mission Quote
Rends Posted December 19, 2013 Author Posted December 19, 2013 Migbuster, Will the runway lights work with stock terrain too? Quote
Rends Posted December 19, 2013 Author Posted December 19, 2013 Just realized that the Yak Pilot is missing textures. He's all black. Rends Btw: noone answered me when the Carrier lights will be released... Quote

Snailman Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Just realized that the Yak Pilot is missing textures. He's all black. You have to rename a file... the texture for SovietNavy pilot. It is in the comments for the file, written in red. Or wait a few days and you can get the new version of the addon. Quote
Rends Posted December 20, 2013 Author Posted December 20, 2013 Did i say i can't wait? ...few days....2 weeks.... I can't wait!!! ;-) Rends Quote
