Operation el Dorado Canyon and Gulf of Sidra Incidents

Recommended Posts

Installation: SF2 full merged

Path: D:\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 El Dorado

Problem: Airplanes expolding inside carriers upon loading the mission in campaign

Campaign working: Yes

Air unit of the campaign: All of them

Plane used by the air unit: All of them

Any clue?. I guess something with carrier's ini. but not sure exactly what...

In which carriers are you having troubles?

In which carriers are you having troubles?

It happens with USS Saratoga and USS Coral Sea. Instead on Saratoga I get placed inside USS South Carolina, and instead on Coral Sea I get placed inside USS California upon loading, and thus exploding.

Also, what SF2 title .exe shoud I use to create the copy for the mod file for this campaign? Or it doesn't matter at all?

Extrange. Send me a copy of the campaign files in a PM.

The .exe shouldn't matter as long as you have SF2NA-

I can't. Even when zipped, campaign file is  too big for PM to send it (4MB is the limit). Perhaps on your e-mail...

Awesome mod and at first it seems to work just fine, but:

Installation you have: SF2 +NA+E+V

Path: D/SFII (custom folder) - mod folder: C/Users/Local/Saved Games/Third Wire/Eldorado Canyon & Gulf of Sidra Incident

Type of problem: Libyan MiGs and SUs both  don't have the engine sounds  and neither an aferburner visible ( MiG regained its sound after I moved some MiG engine sounds from other folders into the mod sound folder) and SU somehow engaged visible afterburner effect, but niether engine nor afterburner sounds are present)

Campaign working (YES/NO): flew a CAP mission over Tripoli with a F/A-18 Hornet (Wildcats sqdn?), received ground fire and a mission was accounted as successful although the Tomcats did the job, returned to the carrier, landed and on exiting the mission the game crashed to desktop

Air unit of the campaign: Wildcats sqdn?

Plane used by the air unit F/A-18 Hornet

Any thoughts? Eager to play it. Thanks a lot for that.

Which one of the SF2.exe's  should I use as the base and should I remove all the files after running it first or just the objects folder? I'm not sure what you mean by clean mod. I have all the SF2.exe's merged. Had this working fine on a nother computer a few years ago. Putting it on a new one. Thanks!

any install should work so long as you have SF2 North Atlantic as part of your merged install.

clean mods folder just means basic stock folder, nothing added before this

  • Thanks 1

Cool, Yeah I use a separate mod folder for each one.  Off topic but since you replied, how do I load the same weapons on all my wingmen at the same time in the loading screen?  I know someone told me how before but can't remember.

if you have the mission editor, just select the desired loadout for the flight

I give up, I've tried installing this 6 times. The campaign doesn't show up in the list. I've tried manually putting the info in the options.ini to no avail.  Directions need to be clearer, especially adding all the stuff before the mod.  1. Do you add the mod first, then put all the other stuff like Ticonderoga and the others in and over write? I added all the other stuff first overrode and then put the main mod in.   2. Am I supposed to delete the objects file first or leave everything to be overwritten?

go back and read trough this whole topic. it may or may not help your issues. but this does seem to be a problem plagued mod

as for installing in general, when it says "clean install"

create a new install, never before ran * run it, then turn it off. dont worry about a mission. this creates your mod folder * goto the location of your mod folder, usually "user/Saved Games/ThirdWire/StrikeFighters2CHOSENVersion". * open it so you see folders like "Objects" and "Screenshots" * open the folder for the mod you want to add. again you see folders like "Objects". * cut or copy all the folders from your new mod, and add them to the CHOSENVersion folder * allow overwrites if needed * fire up your install again * go flying and enjoy

this should work for most any mod needing a "clean install"  like this one or ODS30AE. if you get just an aircraft mod or any mod that doesnt specify "clean install" then skip the first two steps
