[Fictional] North American F-100N Sea Sabre for SF 2

Fictional mod of the stock F-100D_68 to make it look like a fighter plane for the US Navy.

 

YOU WILL NEED AT LEAST SF2:V OR SF2:E TO GET THIS PLANE RUNNING!

 

Skin depicted is the VF-102 "Diamondbacks"

1. Drop the folders into your Objects folder. If asked to overwrite, click yes.

Awesome idea but she needs some serious flaps (maybe flaperons) and leading edge slates and some fatter main gear tires. But great idea. Maybe there's some modifiers that could do the job.

ValAstur, these are some very nice hi res skins for the F-100D.  The old bird looks pretty hot when she's properly dressed.  Thanks for all your great hi res skins!

Not so sure about that last part as the Phantom had fatter main gear tyres in it's Air Force versions.

The US Navy's F-4J's undercarriage was strengthened and enlarged so much that it required the J's to have bulges incorporated in the top and bottom to accommodate the larger main gear. I think the E models got a little bit of a wider tire, but that fitted in the same gear hole.

No, the bulges came on the 'C' model due to the wider tyres.

Your correct the "C" did have bulges, but if you do the research the "J" had them as well. The C's got a wider rim and wider low pressure tire, while the J's whole main gear was beefed up to include the tires.

Yes, the 'J' got the bulges but going back to the original change from Naval 'B' to Air Force 'C' I quote World Air Power Journal's excellent book 'McDonnell F-4 Phantom - Spirit in the skies;

 

"The high tire pressure of the F-4B was unacceptable for USAF operations and the wheel/tire assembly was redesigned with lower pressure and the width increased from 7.7in to 11.5in.

 

That's the reverse of what you are suggesting so I maintain that wider tyres are not a necessity for operating from hard steel carrier decks.
