Dillon Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Does anyone know why the forward flaps on the Super Hornet 3.2 version will not retract? Thx. Quote
Fubar512 Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 (edited) Are the slats extended when the aircraft is on the ground? Are they extended when in level flight at cruise speed? Or are they extended when maneuvering during high AoA flight, or when experiencing mid to high G loads, like the Super Bug in the image below? (Notice that the trailing edge flaps are also deployed) Edited December 29, 2014 by Fubar512 Quote
Dillon Posted December 29, 2014 Author Posted December 29, 2014 (edited) On the ground before takeoff the forward flaps are extended as normal. After takeoff and in cruise the forward flaps are never fully retract like they should. I saw this reported in the file's download comments section but haven't seen a resolution. The leading edge flaps function properly otherwise it's just they don't fully go up in place flush with the wing like they should. Edited December 29, 2014 by Dillon Quote
EricJ Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 (edited) It's game logic, not anything wrong with the jet itself. It's automatically set per the aircraft's AoA so blame TK, not anybody associated with the Super Hornet Team. However I'll see if I can't muck with it but if not it is what it is. Dillon Posted December 30, 2014 Author Posted December 30, 2014 Open the appropriate aircraft's data.ini and replace the original values with this: Eric, I have a version of the Super Hornet who's file name is 'FA_18EWoX'. I swear these things fly more realistic than version 3.2 (BlkII). I flew back seat in the 'A' model and when you turned that thing it moved even with a load of mock weapons and fuel tanks. Granted it wasn't the 'E/F' model but I can't imagine the new birds being under powered and sluggish. Getting off the deck with after burner and a full load is a struggle for the 'BlkII' model. The WOX model's fuel tanks don't show just like what I originally saw with 'BlkII' model (same model it seems minus a few things). The 'Tanks480' folder that came with the 'BlkII' file is not compatible with the 'WoX' bird and the 'Tank482' folder that came in the 'WoX' file doesn't work. If you have any suggestions concerning why the tanks don't show up on the WOX model please let me know. The 'BlkII' model seems harder on framerates and it's handling is too heavy when loaded with weapons. Yes there's some degridation in performance with a load but not that much. Turning shouldn't loose as much speed as seen in the 'BlkII' version and the engines seem underpowered. I know logic suggests these birds should be sluggish with a load and that may be true to some extent but the 'BlkII' model over did it. Again I only flew in the 'A' model and the 'C' simulator but I thought I'd let you guys know from someone who's flew in a real F/A-18. For the record the virtual A/B/C/D models seem fine in SF2 NA. EricJ Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 No no no don't do that stuff man.. the old WoX version is for Wings over <Name> and NOT for SF2.... Please don't bring the WoX version into SF2... the flight model is as you noticed different and frankly I just don't recommend bringing that into SF2. The reason is that SF2 is a different setting and the tanks are not setup for SF2, which doesn't use the weapondata.ini as SF1 did, but is more "modular" that SF1 (and quite honestly saves a boatload of time) isn't. 1 Quote

That's interesting because your new VFA-94 paint works perfectly with it. The only anomaly I see is the canopy texture on one side but that's only with your new paint. All weapons work without issue, it totally works flawlessly. It was the 3.2 version that I saw an issue in which the forward slates would not fully go up (thanks for the help on this) and the performance hit in the sim is noticeable. We can't be talking about the same version? The file name is 'FA_18EWoX.7z'... There's an E/F version that looks to be a slightly older version than v3.2. Like I said your new paint works with it. EricJ Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Okay yeah the mapping for both versions didn't change so you can still use the SF2 versions on the older version no problem. It was just the file structure that changed that's all. Quote

EricJ Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 You'd have to adapt the tanks (which I thought you got sorted already?) for SF2, which I think is the issue you're having. There's an SF2 version for SF2, so I'm scratching my head why you're using that version for SF2. Quote

The SF2 version (BlkII) I have is working just fine thanks to your help. The only problem is upon landing the main flaps aren't adjusting once the gear is lowered meaning I need a faster approach speed to the deck. I know the Block E/F are supposed to have auto flaps but they aren't working on approach. Another thing is it's a performance hog both it's ability to carry a load and have the desired thrust and maneuverability (this is without fuel tanks and set for AA) and in sim performance graphically compared to the WoX version. I meant getting the drop tanks visible on the WoX version. Edited December 30, 2014 by Dillon Quote
EricJ Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 (edited) Okay, what you need to do is add the entry in the Readme to the Weapondata.ini as it's one LONG list depending if you have a weapons pack involved. So for the tank you'll have to add the tanks which should be sequentially next in number. Edited December 30, 2014 by EricJ Quote

EricJ Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 (edited) Could of sworn... Anyway you see the block of text for the Drop tanks yes? If so open the weapondata.ini (it's been so long since I've played SF1...) and copy, and paste below the entries via Notepad or Wordpad to open the weapondata.ini file. Remember to number them sequentially after the first one, and so on. Once you're done open the Weapon Editor (may still be available at the ThirdWire site) and see if it's there, if so save it and open the game and check. Edited December 30, 2014 by EricJ Quote

EricJ Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 (edited) The weapondata.ini is part of the game, not so much part of the aircraft mod. I'd recommend downloading Bunyap's weapons pack and installing it, and then adding the tanks to the list. And the pack is one of the best for that series (the SF2 version is just as good, but I recommend updating the GBUs with Ravenclaw's models) and has a larger assortment of weapons to play with.
