Mirage Milan S

Mirage Milan S

The latest variant of the basic Mirage III/5 family is the Milan (this name does not refer to the Italian city, but to a bird known in English as the "kite"). It is similar to the Mirage IIIE, but is equipped with retractable fore-planes - these being nicknamed "moustaches". This innovation was developed jointly by Dassault and the Federal Aircraft Factory, of Switzerland, and leads to radically improved take-off and low-speed handling characteristics. Each foreplane has a span of 0.8m and features fixed leading-edge slats and slotted trailing-edge flaps. The whole installation is extremely light and only takes up a small amount of space forward of the cockpit.

Foreplanes were first tested in a fixed installation on a Mirage III during 1968; then followed a retractable installation on a Mirage IIIR, this aircraft being shown at the Paris Air Show in June 1969. Finally, a definitive prototype, known as the Milan S-01, was converted from a Mirage IIIR and first flown on May 29, 1970. The Milan S is powered by a 7,200kg SNECMA 09K-50 and has a greater external load capacity than the Mirage IIIE. It also has improved avionics, including the navigation/attack system developed for the Anglo-French BAC/Breguet Jaguar.

No orders for the Milan had been announced at the time of writing (May 1971) but Dassault has said that deliveries could be started in 1972. Switzerland is being strongly wooed with the type and it is reported that South Africa has been discussing a possible order with the manufacturer.

I searched the forum but didn't find a guide on how to do it, nor a description on what it even is. could you explain?

ok, you all made me look.

this read me is terrible!!!  It tells  nothing about how to install the aircraft, AND is missing the fake pilot, pilot. I'm disappointed, as Deniss is usually pretty good about these things!

here's how I would do it:

unzip the contents to to a temp folder or desktop or someplace that easy to find.

take the /Objects folder and copy/paste it directly OVER the existing /Objects folder. Allow the overwrite.

now, you'll still need the fake pilot, which for unknown reasons was LEFT OUT of this upload

so, attached is the actual FakePilot. Unzip it, and drop the /FakePilot folder into your /Objects/Pilots folder.

that should cure the problem

Dennis, if you read this, if you could please update the contents of this upload, add the fake pilot, and perhaps give some instructions to people?? That's be great! Thanks in advance!!

Thanks for the quick reply!

I overwrote the existing Fakepilot folder (from another mod) and now it works.

It's nice to see that a game this old still has such an active community

View File Mirage F1CR standard F5/6
      Mirage F1CR F5/6 standard
When it became clear that the Mirage F1 was becoming a successful production aircraft, Dassault began investigating the possibility of a dedicated reconnaissance version for its most important client, the French Air Force. However, the escalating cost of fighter aircraft meant that add-on pods for this purpose were a more economical alternative. Many French Air Force aircraft, as well as those of some export clients (such as Iraq's Mirage F1EQ), did indeed have a variety of reconnaissance pods available, which were attached to the underside of the main fuselage. However, the development of a tactical reconnaissance aircraft for the French Air Force continued, and the first Mirage F1CR flew on 20 November 1981.
