I would not bother waiting for any of my wingmen to land. You are the one who should be first in the landing pattern so once you come to a stop upon landing, aboard ship or on land you should just end the mission via the Esc key.

Thanks KJ...  but the problem usually accrues in battle, and when hes showboating when I order rejoin...or picking fights when un-needed, I usually just RTB him just to save his own life...or my record----or should I just say, MA im going home, do what you want. I guess im not responsible for him if he wants to do his own thing...

Edit: and since theres no edit...Im still nuts about the A-7---but going on a recon and maybe hooking up with 4 to 6 bogies with only 2 Aim-9s onboard---their kidding right. Is there a mod for this---4 Aim-9s would be the least---very least...   comments please...

In an A-7 your job is to bomb the target and bug out, not hang around and dogfight. If it is available be sure to try and call for a help flight to get some more friendly fighters involved. Being an A-7 fan have you done any flying in the F-8 Crusader?

Thanks KJ... I guess when you run just recon in the A-7 you take your chances cause theres lots of A to A and theres not much A to G... checking out the F-8 ASAP Sir...

You might want to try watching the video below first. Also I have been working almost exclusively on modding ground object data files for quite awhile. Given that I am going to try and get back into the cockpit and start flying SF2 missions again. That way I can be better at helping you out.

a lot of the AI behavior got borked in one of the patches, (can't remember which one exactly 2011? 2012??) because a bunch of whiney little skilless twats complained that they were getting killed out too easily. (the relevant posts should still be somewhere on the 3W site)

Said patch induced a lot of "stupidness" in certain AI behaviors

Of course, using a bomber like a fighter is a shortcut to the graveyard too. Choose to make history, not movies

True you only have 2 AIM-9s in load out but that's what makes it interesting. I like air-air  engagements where I'm in the "less capable" aircraft. A-7 doe not have the speed but I find it's a pretty solid angles fighter compared to early Mig-21s. Plus it's not as twitchy as the F-8.  For engagements in SF2Vietnam I like  being jumped by Migs during the egress . In bound ..that's a different story. In SF2NA, I leave the dogfighting  to the escorts unless I really have  no choice but  to engage .

EZ for you to say Sheriff--- your probably a great pilot...loosing a 9 to Gs or a bad angle was happening a lot (and now im down to 1)... but I like your attitude. Ill root for ya in your A-7....

Just flew a 2v8 recon mission in the A-7E against a flight of MiG-21PFV Fishbed-Ds.  I'll upload the video in a little bit.  I remembered flying against the Fishbed in a few 1v1s in the A-7 (page 18 of the DACT thread), and the Corsair isn't the worst plane to be stuck in if you get jumped.  Thing is, I've generally noticed the AI isn't very aggressive with the A-7 like it is with the A-4.  The A-7E is a fair enough turner, and it'll hold decent "g" at low altitudes and high subsonic speed, but with no afterburner, it takes a while to rebuild speed if you exchange energy for nose position.  One of the biggest weapons I had was low altitude.  Keep on the deck if you can, and it'll take care of a lot of your troubles.  The result of the 2v8 was all 8 MiG-21s splashed, 5 by crashing, 1 by AIM-9 and 2 by M61A1, with no Corsair losses.  My wingman basically turned into bait, but was able to evade the one missile that was fired at him.

EDIT:

Here's zee video:

The F-14 Super Pack v1.21 is the one I use.  Currently working with the team on updating it.  A word of warning, though, because it uses AvionicsF14A.dll, you need to have StrikeFighters 2: North Atlantic installed for it to work properly.  In terms of where/how I fly the bird, just check out the DACT thread, got a number of videos and typed reports in there with the Turkey.

Hope you get good results with the A-7!

Thanks Caesar... I put together a separate install called "Tomcat"...: SF2/NA/Tom121/Olnine-update, just to get my feet wet---I love the Tom, reminds me of the old Janes series. So how can I tell if the 1.21 is in there?

Edit: Got it---I see the new loading screen---how cool is that---ill be reading through that thread tonight---Thanks to everyone whos helped me re-engage...

Radar guided missiles do not create a "tone" - only infrared (e.g. AIM-9, AA-8, Python, etc.).  So, your fire cue for the AIM-7 and AIM-54 in the Turkey are the HOT TRIG light on the ACM Panel, and "IN SP" or "IN PH" on the TID Repeat.

HOT TRIG light on the ACM Panel, and "IN SP" or "IN PH" on the TID Repeat...ill try to figure that out, and I wouldn't ask if I had not bagged 5 birds on my first flight (norm-all-around)---I see the big circle but didn't notice any lights or ques---link to a diagram maybe?... im pretty happy how this ship fights...hella fun...
