SF really lacks a good user friendly strike planner.

Recommended Posts

The first thing I see wrong with Strike Fighter is the lack of a good user interface for strike package planning. The best I've seen so far is Graphsims F-18 Desert Storm and Korea Gold editions, probably the finest user friendly interface for creating diverse and complex strike packages and it allows for the use of drones and other forms of deception warfare that are now a vital part of strike planning.

Hands down you can't beat SF for graphics, realism and all around performance but the SF games need and have needed a better mission editor for some time.

The mission editor was created by TW for SF2 after several requests but I gather didn't sell very well once it was done so that was the end of that. It would only include things up to about 1982 anyway because that's as far as the series went.

The Mission editor is very good for creating historical missions and for testing mods I find.

I would definitely try the Mission Editor, If you have SF2 NA it adds a few different support missions like escort jammers etc.

SF series games are really geared toward 50's-80's in mind really so swarms of target drones are out haha but with a little creativity in the mission editor you can make some great scenarios!

SF has the distinction of being between Arcade and hard core DCS/Lockon which is why I think so many people love it!  Its not gonna be 100% realistic but its still great for bombing Iranian nuclear bunkers or dogfighting over the Yalu...

So i would def try playing with the mission editor and seeing what you can come up with!
