The F-35 is many things: a totem of all that’s wrong with the military industrial congressional complex, a technological marvel, a black hole that sucks in cash, and a weapon system that is now in service. But can it do the job? Hush-Kit spoke to the Royal United Services Institute’s Justin Bronk to find out more.

May I add that (nearly) any machinery is built according to a certain philosophy / understanding; The F-15 (even though I do not really like it) may have been the ultimate realisation of the American one: big, complex, heavily armed, good survivability, high costs, low numbers.

This aircraft was incredibly successful, as were the other teen-fighters.

I, not being an expert in military aviation, suspect a point of technical complexity has been reached where "the best" does not provide sufficient advantage over the "good", and an aircraft, which may be flawed (as were many before), has no vital benefits over older, or simpler, aircraft. It's just not worth the effort.

Just my two cents,
