Not sure it is real. You use a airframe of the 50's and pack it with technology of 21st century and expect to be rugged and cheap?

rugged yes. cheap? well cheaper than the F-35 anyhow. and look at Brazil's AF-1s, also known previously as the A-4 Skyhawks for example of how it is being done already

Maybee they are running out of money and having to go for the cheaper option.

This was an April Fool's article that did the rounds... looks like this site posted it up a little while after...
