Pre-purchase Trailer video

The AV-8B project was born in the early 1970's as an effort to address the operational inadequacies of the AV-8A first generation Harrier, aimed to dramatically improve the capabilities and performance of the early AV-8A's. The AV-8B made its maiden flight in November 1981 and entered service with the United States Marine Corps in January 1985. It later evolved into the AV-8B N/A (Night Attack) and AV-8B Harrier II Plus.

First flight of a modified AV-8B in the night attack configuration was on June 26th, 1987. Deliveries to the USMC began in September of 1989 to VMA-214 at Yuma, Arizona. Follow-up units based out of Yuma received their Night Attack AV-8Bs by the end of 1992.The AV-8B N/A variant (originally known as the AV-8D) had its first operational development in 1984 and included use of the NAVFLIR (Navigation Forward-Looking Infrared camera, consisting of a GEC-Marconi FLIR system mounted in the nose) for night operations. Additionally, GEC Cat's Eyes night vision goggles were provided to the pilot as well as a revised cockpit with color MFDs, a wider field-of-view HUD display, a color CRT digital moving map, and a complete "heads-down" operation capability. The AV-8B N/A also sports four Tracor ALE-39 countermeasures dispensers along the top of the rear fuselage, in addition to two ALE-39 dispensers along the lower rear of the fuselage. The AV-8B N/A also fields an updated version of the Rolls-Royce Pegasus 11-61 (F402-RR-408) vectored-thrust turbofan engine.

4-238.jpg 10-238.jpg 19-238.jpg

The subject of this study level simulation is the AV-8B N/A Bu No's 163853 and up which are the latest variant of this very capable AV-8B version.

Last week we discussed the many aircraft projects that will be under development in 2019. Today, let’s look at some of the non-aircraft projects. As mentioned last week, we cannot promise that all of these will be released in 2019, but they will all be under focused development.
      Ships

Although we released a greatly improved and free Nimitz-class aircraft carrier at the time of the Hornet release, we are also working on a separate Nimitz-class aircraft carrier module. This product will have an incredible level of detail and include such features as a detailed and operable LSO and Air Boss stations, detailed modeling of the hangar, animated deck crew, briefing room, and control of the carrier.
Once this project is complete, the team will finish up the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer and then return to and release the updated Kuznetsov-class aircraft carrier.
      Combined Arms
No combat environment is complete without a good solid ground game, and we continue to improve on and add to your abilities to control ground forces either from a commander position or behind the controls of a single unit. As with 2018, we will continue to address issues and look at new features to improve Combined Arms, based on your feedback, throughout 2019. We will continue to add new content in the form of new units both to the core sim and the WWII Asset Pack, as well as exciting new missions and campaigns. We are currently at work on new CA-related effects like main gun fire, dust trail, localized damage, and smoke grenades, while also working on improved ground unit AI like line-of-sight issues, pathing, and more intuitive control.
      Radio Communications
The biggest radio communications task are the aircraft carrier communications that includes CASE I, CASE II, and CASE III for departure, marshal, approach, and the Landing Signal Officer (LSO). Once this massive task is complete, we will move on to an overhaul of the airbase radio communications.
      New Maps

With 2018 we saw the release of the DCS: Persian Gulf Map. For 2019 we and our partners are working on two new World War II maps, a Syria map, a Falkland Islands map, and a new free map that we’ll discuss later in the year.
In parallel, we will be finishing up the Persian Gulf map with the addition of Liwa Airbase and Ras Al Khaimah airport; Al Ain Air War College; ruins near Shiraz, Kerman, and Bam; and fix remaining bugs. Once complete, it will be the largest DCS World map as measured from airfield to airfield.
      Dynamic Campaign
While a hangar of great aircraft is certainly a wonderful thing, having an engaging, exciting, and dynamic combat environment is equally important. We have been developing the inner-workings of a dynamic campaign system which will continue into 2019. Based on the strategic goals and tactical situations, the systems will create dynamic Air Tasking Orders (ATO) that players then join to help their side to victory. This work is non-trivial, but we believe the addition of this system should be exciting for DCS users.
      DCS World Multiplayer

In the closing weeks of 2018, we made the Dedicated Server software available to a handful of trusted 3rd party online servers. Based on their feedback, we have been tuning and expanding the software to best suit customer needs.
One aspect of the Dedicated Server we are also exploring is the availability of free maps to Dedicated Server hosts.
In addition to this new Server software, the team has also been at work developing an integrated Voice Over IP (VOIP) system for DCS World which is based on the growing Web RTC standard. The first phase will allow users to use and create “rooms” and the second phase would integrate the VOIP into in-cockpit radio controls.
As mentioned in last week’s newsletter about Modern Air Combat (MAC), we also plan to include leader boards, rankings, and other online statistics for DCS World online players.
      DCS World Foundation
In parallel to all the above, the team continues to work on the foundation items of DCS World like air and ground artificial intelligence, performance optimization, more detailed damage models for all unit types, Vulkan implementation, improved VR optimization and improved Touch Controller support, aircraft wake turbulence.
DCS World Steam Edition to DCS World e-Shop Transfer
You can now transfer modules purchased on Steam to your DCS World e-Shop installation. Note that this only applies to Steam DLC that uses Steam protection, not StarForce keys. All DCS World DLCs released on Steam from 12th May 2017 can be transferred.
Here are some modules released on Steam after 12-May-2017:
DCS: M-2000C DCS: NEVADA Test and Training Range map DCS: Spitfire LF Mk.IX DCS: AJS-37 Viggen DCS: Normandy map DCS: WW2 Assets pack DCS: Su-33 for DCS World DCS: AV-8B Night Attack V/STOL DCS: F/A-18C Hornet DCS: Persian Gulf map Please see this link for complete directions
Given that Steam no longer accepts our 3rd party license keys, binding of keys purchased on the E- Shop cannot be transferred to the DCS World Steam Edition.
      Hornet Missions of the Week
In our quest to bring more and more great, new content to the Hornet, we are now providing a Hornet Mission of the Week! The first two missions can be found here:
River Run Strike Fighter These missions will also be integrated into the Hornet Instant Action list of missions.
      Sincerely,
      The Eagle Dynamics Team

DCS: P-51D Mustang and World War II Update
We are pleased to update our first Warbird for DCS World, the Mustang! This week’s update includes both a complete overhaul of the cockpit to include deferred shading and physical based rendering technology, as well as a more detailed 3D model and textures.

In addition to a huge update to the cockpit, we have also greatly improved the external model and added the option to fly the P-51D-25-NA version. This was the most common P-51D for the European Theater of Operations (ETO) with its primary difference being its radio and IFF systems. This is most visible by the dorsal antenna.
As notes in prervious newsletters, both the Bf 109 K-4 and Fw 190 D-9 have also gotten outstanding improvements to their cockpits and external models to bring it to DCS World 2.5 standards.
With the huge updates to the P-51D, Fw 190 D-9, and Bf 109 K04, and all the time and resources invested, the price of each warbird will return to $49.99; however, all three aircraft will take part in our Winter 2018 sale. These are free updates to existing owners.
DCS: P-51D Mustang DCS: Spitfire LF Mk.IX DCS: Bf 109 K-4 DCS: Fw 190 D-9 These are free updates to existing owners.
Coming next year, we have new AI air units like the P-47D, Ju-88, Fw 190 A-8, A-20G, C-47, Bf 109 G, Mosquito, C-47 and others taking to the skies of DCS World War II. Of these, we are already at work making the P-47D, Fw 190 A-8 and Mosquito flyable. In parallel, the new damage model system is now being applied to all our warbirds.

We also have a new and exciting World War II map in development.
DCS: P-51D Mustang - Blue Nosed Bastards of Bodney Campaign
Developed by Reflected Simulations, this campaign is the perfect setting to fly the newly updated Mustang!

      Purchase from DCS e-shop
Become a member of the most famous fighter unit of the USAAF, take part in escorting large bomber formations, support the ground troops after D-day, or engage the Luftwaffe over the snowy hills of the Ardennes. The Blue Nosed Bastards of Bodney is a semi-historical campaign for the P-51D Mustang. It follows the 352nd Fighter Group from May 1944 through the Normandy landings until Operation Bodenplatte in January 1945. This campaign has a plethora of details and Easter eggs to make you feel like a young American flyboy in the Army Air Forces in 1944.
      Key Features:
14 semi-historical missions focusing on the 352nd Fighter Group A detailed background story, mission contexts, checklists and encounter reports Detailed briefings and briefing images, including separate PDF mission files Unique kneeboard graphics and checklists for each mission Hundreds of specially recorded voice-over messages and radio broadcasts Historically accurate custom skins A wide array of missions including fighter sweep, bomber escort, armed reconnaissance and ground attack DCS: C-101 by AvioDev Update
This week, AvioDev is proud to make available the Enhanced Flight Model (EFM) for their C-101EB version and launch the more-weaponized C-101CC version.

      Purchase from DCS e-shop
DCS: C-101 Aviojet module includes both the C-101EB and C-101CC models. The C-101EB model is the primary jet trainer and aerobatic display aircraft of the Spanish Air Force, whilst the C-101CC model, with its 7 hard-points and uprated engine, is a versatile light attack aircraft that has seen combat with the Honduras Air Force against drug traffickers. It is also in service with the Jordanian and Chilean air forces. The two models of the C-101 have many similarities that include cockpit layout, core-systems operation, and aerodynamic design. This commonality brings something for everyone to include lead-in jet training, advanced aerobatics, and light attack.
      Features of DCS: C-101 include:
Complete electrical system modeling Complete circuit breaker simulation with correct failed systems behaviors TARSYN gyro system replicated with exacting detail Accurate flight director system Custom air data simulation (airspeed/altimeter behaviors, etc.) Custom navigation system simulation Complete fuel system modeling Complete hydraulic system modeling Flight controls/landing gear can sustain damage if poorly handled Accurate pressurization system Accurate oxygen system Icing model Fully adjustable cockpit and exterior lighting A quick trailer on C-101EB/CC w EFM is here

View File AV-8B Night Attack Harrier II - SF2. ver.2018
      AV-8B Night Attack Harrier II.
This is my humble rework of old AV-8B.
Basic modding skills are required to run this mod.  (copy/paste, mod folder structure etc.) Fake pilot is needed to run this mod.
It is designed for and works only in SF2 series.

Around 2 years ago - January 2016 -  KillerBee approach me with the possibility of updating bobrock's harrier.  An working on Night Attack version.  After some time, we had prepared the updated file ready for upload. Small changes here and there corrected few things. And great skins by Killerbee.
And then KillerBee disappeared from CA forum. Honestly, up to now, I have no contact with him. last - 4th May 2016.
So harrier stayed on drive waiting for his comeback. But .... I couldn't resist...And iI started to mod this again. Since I had no KB skin templates I had to do all new skins...and more.
So now I am here...My standard AV-8B Harrier is already available for download and now its night Attack model.
New cockpit and a whole set of new skins and decals on whole remodeled 'old' Harrier. - there is no single part of an original model that hasn't be touched/remodeled etc.
First of all...If you want to count rivets...Do not.
Many things could be done other way....but I did it my way. So you have to bear with it.
All skins are in 4096x4096 format. So you can easily resize down.  Generally, it is just a few skins.
Decals are based on my and KillerBee research. All serials are correct for the Night Attack version of Harrier II. Not always (but mostly) correct for a unit/year of service etc. But as always aircraft are rotating between units so its hard to track them down really.
      Animations:
      1= canopy open - close
4= refueling probe - beware of a speed limit
3= night vision mode - not really helping but it is there - inside and outside animation.
      ************************************************************************************
Included optional data file where gun pod is still gunpod but always loaded via weaponstation-7 so additional slot for chosing loadout is available - usefull with asymetrical loadouts (on station 2 and 6).
AAQ-28 can be loaded only on station number 5 and centerline - in real - centerline come to use later and some units (VMAT) also moded wiring for use on other pylons. Nut in this mod only station 5 and 4 can carry AAQ-28.
ECM also activates RWR on digital display indicator - even if ECM pod is not loaded.
If you have my AV-8B Harrier already  - some files are same so simply overwrite. I think I did not put equalizer sound file now. It is same as in previous day Harrier.
for proper sound work you should add these lines into soundlist.ini

DCS: F-14 by Heatblur Simulations Available for Pre-Purchase

      Pre-purchase and save $10 from

The DCS: F-14 Tomcat by Heatblur Simulations is now available for pre-purchase with a $10 discount. Early Access release of a feature-complete F-14B will be this winter.
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat was a two-crew, variable geometry, maritime air superiority fighter that served with the US Navy for 32 years and continues to serve with the IRIAF in Iran. The F-14 was the US Navy's frontline fighter from the 1970s until the mid-2000s. Over the course of its long service life it also became the US Navy's premier precision ground-attack platform and lone airborne reconnaissance asset.
Outstanding features of the aircraft are the swing-wing configuration, crew of two, and the powerful AN/AWG-9 Weapons Control System (WCS) and radar. The AWG-9 allows employment of the powerful AIM-54 Phoenix air to air missile while the LANTIRN pod allows the ability to carry out precision ground strikes using laser guided bombs. The F-14 Tomcat was present during many pivotal historic moments such as the two Gulf of Sidra incidents, Operation Desert storm in Iraq, the conflict in Yugoslavia, Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and Operation Iraqi Freedom. It was also immortalized in the iconic motion picture, Top Gun, and starred in several other feature films including The Final Countdown, Executive Decision, and others.
In addition, the Tomcat was also a vital player in the Iran-Iraq war during the 80s, flying for the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force which had acquired the F-14A from the US prior the Islamic Revolution of 1979.

The Heatblur Simulations F-14A/B Tomcat aims to simulate this iconic aircraft as a high-fidelity module for DCS, being the culmination of several years of research, coding and modelling.
Special points of consideration amongst the many features are the external and internal graphic model created using laser scanning and photogrammetry from real Tomcats at various museums, the detailed modelling of the AN/AWG-9 and the ability to fly as a two-crew aircraft in multiplayer.

MiG-29 for DCS World Available Now
This is a free update for Flaming Cliffs 3 customer, or a separate purchase option from DCS e-shop

This week we bring you the long-awaited update to the MiG-29A, MiG-29S, and MiG-29G! This is the last of the major updates to DCS: Flaming Cliffs 3 (FC3) line of aircraft. As with the other updated FC3 aircraft, the MiG-29 now incorporates a Professional Flight Model (PFM) that will continue to undergo development and improvement during the early access period.
Additionally, the MiG-29 cockpit and external model have been greatly improved, and other changes have been made like:
Option for casual gamer flight dynamics that prevents departures to stalls, automatic angle of attack limiter, and a G limiter. While the PFM for the MiG-29 is very realistic, some player may prefer a more forgiving aircraft to fly. As part of the PFM, we have tuned the available angular velocity of roll. The braking effect of the braking chute has been increased. The fuel level in internal fuel tank 1 has been increased. The MiG-29 "Fulcrum" is a Russian-designed, twin-engine, supersonic fighter. First operational in the early 1980s, the Fulcrum is a "light weight" fighter, comparable to the American F/A-18 Hornet and F-16. Designed to work in conjunction with the larger Su-27 Flanker, the MiG-29 is armed with an internal 30mm cannon and both infrared- and radar-guided air-to-air missiles. For air-to-ground tasks, the MiG-29 can be armed with a large array of unguided bombs and rockets.
In addition to a sophisticated pulse doppler radar, the MiG-29 is also equipped with a passive Infrared Search and Track (IRST) sensor that allows the Fulcrum to detect and target enemy aircraft just based on their infrared emissions. This allows the MiG-29 to make stealthy attacks with no warning!
The Fulcrum is a highly-maneuverable fighter in a dogfight, and when paired with the helmet mounted sight and the AA-11 "Archer" air-to-air missile, it is a very lethal adversary. The MiG-29 has also been widely exported and has served in many countries that include Germany, Iran, Ukraine, and Poland.
Key Features of the MiG-29 for DCS World:
A professional level flight model provides unmatched flight physics that allow you to truly feel what it's like to fly this amazing aircraft. Designed and tested by a former MiG-29 pilot! A true model of the MiG-29 flight control system that allows you to perform the "cobra" and other "out of the envelope" maneuvers. Highly detailed, six-degrees-of-freedom (6 DOF) cockpit. Accurate MiG-29 Fulcrum model, squadron markings, and weapons. Includes instant action, single missions, and a campaign. Battle the Hornet in head-to-head combat. Note: The MiG-29 for DCS World is identical to the MiG-29 in Flaming Cliffs 3. Owners of FC3 do not need to purchase.

The main differences in the new PFM against SFM MiG-29
SFM had very basic stability/controllability model, where stick deflection defines required g-load (1 g auto-trim system).
In real life, the MiG-29 is a plane with natural positive stability without any g-load feedback (as Su-27, for example) with additional longitudinal stability augmentation system (LSAS) and dampers.
MiG-29 PFM carefully models real plane longitudinal stability and controllability characteristics of the plane itself as well as LSAS algorithms.
Lateral and directional stability and controllability were tuned as well.
The true effect from leading edge slats was added.
To model the distinctive features of the plane aeroelasticity effect were added for ailerons together with the limited ability of the actuators.
Roll rate is dependent on AoA and dynamic pressure and is very close to the real prototype.
The plane has a very pronounced effect of ground proximity to its longitudinal controllability, which is modelled.
Stick limiter algorithm is fundamentally changed in comparison to SFM to have it like the real thing.
Autopilot modes are made closer to the real.
      What to do:
Fine tuning of lateral and directional stability/controllability Engine fine tuning to adjust thrust for 70-80% rpm range High AoA and post-stall effects and behaviour tuning DCS World 2.5 Open Beta Update
This week’s Open Beta release saw some key changes that include:
Introduced the updated MiG-29 Increased range of the new HY-2 Silkworm anti-ship missile to 100 km Added the reload times of the SA-2 SAM and HY-2 Increased launch rate of the Ticonderoga Improved AI taxi logic on the carrier deck Flight model improvement of the drag curve, motor performance, and dynamic launch zone of the AIM-9L/M Sidewinder Several AJS-37 Viggen and MiG-21bis fixes and improvements Corrected Hornet TDC moving to stow position after target breaks a lock, aerial refueling Instant Action missions, adjusted TCTS pod drag value, radar B-Sweep no longer moves outside the tactical area, the B-Sweep returns to normal scan after the radar loses lock (B-Sweep hang after an undesignate key break lock already fixed this month) You can read the complete change log on the DCS forum
We are on track to have the JHMCS with AIM-9X, FPAS page, fixed antenna logic, and AGM-65E and AGM-65F for the Hornet by the end of this month. In parallel, the HARM and ATFLIR pod are being developed, but these are complex tasks and will take longer.
