Hello fellow WOFFers,

Thought I’d open this separate thread for a future mods-compatibility list for the ver. of BH&H 2 (WOFF) that will be released soon. Becker is welcome to make use of this thread for his long mods-compatibility list that is currently hosted on the WOFF threads over on SimHQ. I will also use this thread to update regarding my FM mods., GPU Tuner Patch, etc., in the future and time-permitting.

For convenience and simplicity, I encourage everyone who is a member/user of CombatAce to post mods-related questions for BH&H 2 WOFF under this thread, since it will be easier to find mod-compatibility info. that way. While most WOFF-related mods. are available via Sandbagger’s site for WOFF addons, this thread will hopefully prove helpful for compatibility questions, info. regarding release of new mods. not hosted on Sandbagger’s site, etc. - and ideally will become a centralized hub for mod-related topics since there are too many mod-related threads over on the SimHQ forums for WOFF and it becomes confusing/discouraging to navigate for new WOFF fliers who might wish to load up quickly on WOFF goodies and fly.

OBD, feel free to delete this thread if you will be posting a separate stickied thread for mod-compatibility questions, etc.

For those interested in downloading my FM tweaks packages for the Ultimate and Platinum Eds. of WOFF, as well as GPU Tuner Patches for the Platinum Ed., including for WOTR Phase One, and the small FM tweaks package for WOTR Phase One - please see the link included immediately below. Those WOFF-related packages are not compatible with the latest, BH&H 2 edition unless otherwise indicated in this thread. I am currently busy with work and other duties, so my limited modding time will be devoted only to First Eagles 2 for the foreseeable future.

Tweaks Packages for Previous Eds. of WOFF, etc.

EDIT: to find my previous and current mods packages for WoFF/WoTR, click on my propeller icon here on CombatAce to go to my main profile page. Once there, click on the "about me" tab to find all relevant info. and mod download link(s).

Cheers all,

Thank you @VonS !

You have mentioned all necessary things. I'm new on CA, so let's find the best way for the user to get an overview about the BH&HII-mods.

Greetings

Hello fellow WOFFers,

Just a quick update to this mods-compatibility list thread - namely, that Redwolf is currently testing my WOFF GPU Tuner Patch and it is most likely compatible with the BHAH.II edition. Time-permitting, he will also be testing the WOTR GPU Tuner Patch in BHAH.II, and results will be released as to which one is better, for those who are interested in patching/modding  the latest WOFF on their rigs.

In terms of my FM Tweaks Packages, they are incompatible with BHAH.II. To explain, FM changes in BHAH.II operate "under the hood," so to speak, while stock FM performance data across the xfm files is identical in UE/PE and BHAH.II editions of WOFF, and therefore continues to be moddable. However - seven or eight extra "scrape point" entries have been included in the xfm files in BHAH.II (total of 18 or 19 scrape points), when compared with the 11 or so scrape-point entries in UE/PE WOFF. Scrape points provide ambient rumbling sounds and other goodies when taxiing, ascending, alighting - they also provide aircraft contact points with the ground, further additions to the damage modeling, etc.

So, in short, 7 or 8 ambient sounds may be lost while taxiing, and aircraft may also lose the ability to belly land, to lose wheels/gear assemblies, and so on, with my FM mods loaded - my recommendation therefore is to fly stock BHAH.II FMs for the foreseeable future. Currently I have no time to update the xfm files since it will require copying-over of the extra, 7 or 8 scrape point entries in the newer xfm files into more than 500 tweaked xfm files (11 xfm files per aircraft, total of about 50 tweaked aircraft in my FM packages).

EDIT: Important changes included in post above, Apr. 9, 2021. (Thanks Pol for the extra info.)

Happy flying,
Von S

Thanks VonS and Redwolf for testing,  I love the new sounds so for now I’m keeping stock.

also I feel even though I lose a few FPS, the whole experience feels smoother than ever so I don’t even notice the loss. Cheers again guys.

Adger.

Originally posted on simhq:

I can confirm that v. 2.02 of the Historical Weather mod is fully compatible with BHaH2! Activate the usual way, with JSGME.

I have also looked at the OCM, and it also appears to be compatible, although a few features will not be fully implemented until JJJ's Mission Editor is made compatible with BHaH2. OBD also made a few minor changes to a few cloud files, but that does not appear to affect whether the mod works or not.

Now that BHaH2 is out, I also plan to update the OCM in another of my continuing efforts to cut back on the annoying cloud popping and flashing. For this, I would like to benefit from your assistance. The next time you fly a campaign mission where you encounter significant cloud popping or flashing, whether you use the cloud mod or not, please reply to my Optional Cloud mod thread at simhq, briefly describe the problem, and then attach a copy of the OFFDynamicMissionWeather.xml file to your post. This will help me to identify the clouds which are contributing the most to this problem. Just make sure to copy the file before you fly the next mission, because the OFFDynamicMissionWeather file changes when you click the button to start your next mission.

This will really help me to solve this nagging problem. Thanks to any and all who participate.

Great stuff BOB, your cloud mods are fantastic, quick question..in cloud fog off or on in workshop? Does it make much difference regarding any popping / flashing ? Cheers pal.

Cheers, Adger!

I do not believe the in cloud effect has any effect on cloud popping, so it should just be a matter of preference. It might take a point or two off of frame rates, if any, but no more than that, and I haven't tested that, so take what I just said with a pinch of salt.

BTW, how was that pint of Guinness? :drinks:

Hello WOFFers,

For those interested in a ReShade imitation of my SweetFX shaders tweaks done previously for WOFF 4.18 and earlier, see the post below:

[link removed]

The ReShade package is for WOFF 4.21 and higher but may be used in earlier variants, and is also AMD-vid. card friendly (took a while to get it working on AMD but all is well now in the land of simulated emerald meadows). More info. and instructions at the link included.

EDIT: see top post of this thread for relevant download link(s), etc.

Hello again WOFFers,

Those interested in improving FPS in BH&H 2, eliminating blue triangles when flying at lower alts., also other little things like improved glass reflection in cockpits, etc., might want to check over the "FrankenBHAH Enhancement Package" linked under the following post ("Read Me" file included in the package):

[link removed]

Info./instructions for how to install BH&H 2 both in WineSkin and Windows, on a Mac, are now available under the long WOFF-on-Mac post on SimHQ, as well as in a separate thread here on CombatAce. (Also, the base FrankenBHAH Enhancement Package has been updated to Ver. 1.1 on Nov. 9, 2021.)

Hello WOFFers,

Another brief update to this thread - was enjoying BH&H2 further today and, on a hunch, since it reminds me so much of the venerable UE 4.18 for stability - I installed the "Full Tree Populated Airfields Mod (Version 3.0)" by Panama Red into it, via JSGME - and from what I could observe it works well - does not jar too much against the stock BH&H2 landscape.

And the other good thing is that it is lighter on resources than the big "Consolidated Airfields Mod.," thereby preserving higher FPS in BH&H2 - anyway, something to think about if you would like to have airfield figures and various aircraft at 'dromes, but without the overhead of the big, consolidated pack - I'm running the consolidated pack in my FrankenWOFF 4.18, but the lighter variant mod. seems a good choice, among other mods., for BH&H2 - couple of representative pics. below.

(Also included one pic. to show what mods. I'm currently running in BH&H2 - so far they have not popped up any errors - and the install is stable. Those individual airfield mods. you see loaded are also from the UE-era of WOFF: some are still available on Sandbagger's website, others have been incorporated into the big consolidated airfields mod.)

Happy flying,

Von S

And one more small update to this thread - the FrankenMiniTuner Ver. 1.2 (add-on) to the WOTR and BH&H2 Enhancement Packages is now included under this post. Install directions included there. The MiniTuner helps to squeeze out a bit more FPS when loaded after the base Enhancement Packages - JSGME-friendly versions of the MiniTuner are included both for BH&H2 and WOTR in the relevant zipped file.

And, yes, one more even smaller update to this thread - the FrankenBHAH Enhancement Hardcore Addon Ver. 1.15 for the BH&H2 Enhancement Package (not for the WOTR Package) is now included under this post. Install directions may be found in the "Read Me" file that accompanies this very small addon. In short, the Hardcore Addon makes for more challenging regular flying, and dogfights, in BH&H2 (more engine failures, more wiry opponents, etc.).

Technically not a mod. update - but I have now included my tinkered/subtle settings files, for BH&H2/WOTR and WOFF UE (up to 4.18) - and that I use with FaceTrackNoir (Ver. 2.x.x) - under the following post. More info. provided under that post, as well as in the included "Read Me" file.

Brief update to this thread - a small FM Addon Package (Ver. 1.2) has been included for BH&H2 under this post. The package includes an early variant of the Aviatik B.I (replaces the stock B.I and is a bit more historical with regard to top speed, etc.). For the WOFF UE/PE version of the same addon, please see the relevant link under this post in the same thread.

Latest update to this thread - a small FM Addon Package (Ver. 1.3) has been included for BH&H2 under this post. The package contains a Fokker-built D.VII with the Mercedes D.III(au) engine of estimated 200 HP, and which replaces the stock D.VII in WOFF/BH&H2. Load either the 200 HP variant or the early 180 HP variant - not both at once. The tweak is also available for WOFF UE/PE - see the relevant link under the BH&H2 FM post to get to the other post in the same thread for WOFF UE/PE FM downloads.

And one more, probably final update to this thread - please find at the following link an AI-tuner mod. that attempts to bring in and/or combine some of the AI routines and maneuvers of the WoFF UE/PE generation with the BH&H2 series.

On another note: it's finally time to hang up the modding hat and to do other things - I will of course continue flying the excellent WoFF series by OBD, but I think there are now plenty of GPU Tuner mods., AI-routine mods., and of course FM mods. too, available for the WoFF series, and to keep everyone entertained in the (un)friendly skies in our favorite sim.

EDIT: see top post of this thread for relevant download link(s), etc.

Brief update to this thread - instead of opening a separate post, I thought that it would be best to bump this particular thread up with fresh(er) technical info. regarding WoFFing on AMD-vid cards. Those who are sometimes troubled by flashing and/or dark terrain tiles in WoFF on AMD video might wish to have a gander at this article located at the bottom of the WoFF FM and other mods. support thread, wherein I outline an X79 server build and a few tips/tricks that might help to resolve any oddities if WoFFing on AMD GPUs. Will also update regarding this under the relevant AMD thread on SimHQ if I have not already done so.

EDIT: see top post of this thread for relevant download link(s), etc.

Cheers all & good WoFFing to you,

Apr. 17, 2023 Update - Please find, available at the link below, my previously released mods. for RoF United Ed. - this time as a convenient, consolidated package that has been updated with the latest tweaks. Do read the included "Read Me" files, where available, for more info., particularly the "READ_ME_ROF_General_Info" file that is located in the root folder of the package when unzipped. This package is provided "as is," with no active support beyond the included explanatory files. The "Consolidated Mods. New" Package contains the latest AI mod. (ver. 1.4) for RoF United, as well as mods. previously offered separately, such as the "M-S Type H Campaigning Tweak," the "PWCG modulations" files, etc.
Apr. 29, 2023 Update - Included below the link to the "Consolidated Mods. New" package is Ver. 3 of the PWCG "modulations" files (to be installed manually in the PWCG ver. 16.3.1; see directions included in the larger, consolidated package). Ver. 3 of the "modulations" files increases wind and turbulence settings, as well as provides greater chance of encountering more capable AI when flying PWCG campaigns, especially if used in conjunction with my newer AI mods. for RoF (such as ver. 1.36 or 1.4, included in the big consolidated package).
Important Note: if using the Ver. 3 PWCG "modulations" files, instead of the Ver. 2 ones included in the big consolidated package for RoF -- make sure to change settings, if you choose to change any, from within the modulations, i.e., the RofCampaignSpecific, files themselves -- otherwise, tampering with relevant settings from within the PWCG advanced menu options will automatically delete extra entries for the AI that I've included in the Ver. 3 modulations. This note does not apply to the Ver. 2 modulations since those don't contain any extra AI settings.
Feb. 6, 2024 Update - RoF AI mods. vers. 1.36 and 1.4 have been upgraded to vers. 1.37 and 1.41, respectively. The new versions have tweaked the AI's ability to follow commands more quickly and/or properly. Ver. 1.41 also contains further tweaks to safe alts. for the AI, to minimize unnecessary crashes and very low-level dogfighting. The entire consolidated package has been renamed from "Consolidated Mods New" to "Consolidated Mods New V.2" (i.e., Version 2).

I created a deck to use with the Matric Android app to control WINGS OVER FLANDERS FIELDS: BETWEEN HEAVEN & HELL II.
      Intro
I'm so new to the game that I still don't know just what I don't know about playing it I have a little bit of flight sim experience in the past but having recently read the remarkable book Marked for Death  byJames Hamilton-Patterson I used google to learn more about WWI flight, found WOFF and jumped in running. I've never been fond of using a keyboard to enter sim commands I'm grateful for this forum, it's been instrumental in helping me get started, my thanks to everyone who has contributed. I'm not affiliated with Matric app in any way, I'm just a guy trying to figure things out The Matric App
Their Website http://matricapp.com/ All edits are done on the desktop app that is a free download  The mobile app communicates with this desktop app to work with your game (Or photo editor, videos, music, etc. etc. Matric is useful beyond gaming) Google Play Store on Android phone or tablet to get the mobile app.  Cost for the app is scaled based on what you can either afford or how much you value it ranging from $12.99 to $19.99 you choose how much you  pay. I use a Kindle Fire tablet that I found a work around to get the Play Store on How I use Matric in WOFF
I set up my deck to have everything I didn't have set up already on other devices (you may see buttons you don't need or need more but this is easily editable)  I use SmoothTrack Face Tracking App on my Android phone with Opentrack on my computer so I didn't need the eye movement commands As an aside, I have tried many setups and this is the best inexpensive solution I have found for face tracking I had trouble with my VKB Gladiator NXT Joystick so I pulled an old Logitech Extreme 30 Pro joystick out and started using it.  I think the Gladiator issues are related to some setup I was doing for IL2 and not related to WOFF, I will dedicate the time later to getting it going in WOFF but the Logitech works fine for now. the Logitech has a few commands on it, these are not on my Deck I changed a handful of commands while playing around with setup, please be aware if you download my deck that the following are not standard WOFF commands: Fixed Views Toggle Control+NumberPad5 Select Next Weapon Conrol+NumberPad2 Right Rudder Trim Control+NumberPad6 Left Rudder Trim Control+NumberPad4 Increase Time Compression Control+Semicolon Quality Control If you find an error in my deck, please share it here, I haven't even pushed every button in game yet. Future Plans
I expect my decks to change quite a bit as I learn. Some buttons will be removed, some changed in look or groupings.  Dedicated decks built for given plane types that have identical or very similar commands, removing commands that do not apply to those planes Move buttons that are needed to access quickly (Combat) in sizing and location to fit my needs as I learn I already have Blip button and unjam guns at the edge of the screen and large in anticipation of needing them quicker I can see moving or copying the Wingman commands to the Weapon and Combat page to access them in the heat of battle without changing pages Decks for realistic flying without any navigation buttons, just the bare basics after I get competent Add maps as pages to decks, they will not be scrollable, but multiple pages that are static maps (images) can be added.  Area around landing field for sure As much of the engagement area as possible as additional pages I hope that some of you here use Matric and contribute your work so that I can implement your improvements into my own setup. If there is another option for this type of tablet based game control that is inexpensive I'd love to hear your experience. For now I can't think of anything that would make me change but I try to keep an open eye as to what is out there. Get my Deck for Free if you have Matric
Kodokushi WOFF BHAH2 Flanders Field 1.1.2022 Deck • Matric (matricapp.com) Or seach 'Kodokushi' from the desktop Matric app  I plan to date my decks as I update them and will try to keep on top of removing the older decks if they seem obsolete compared to newer efforts

Hello, gents. Although I prefer to keep discussion of the OCM to my thread at simhq for now, I have several pics of work in progress I would like to post, and combatace.com is much friendlier with images than the other site, so I thought I would post them here. Keep in mind that these are all works in progress and may or may not show up in the mod. Of course, all questions and comments are welcome. Overall, I am making progress on the mod and hope to have something by the middle of next month or so.
ALL PICS ARE WORKS IN PROGRESS
      Old light haze

      New light haze

      Old thick haze

      New thick haze

      New Fog

Let me know what you like and don't like about the pics. The main obstacle to getting any of these new clouds into the sim is the flashing issue. Although I have been able to reduce it some, no matter how I try, I can't seem to completely eliminate it, especially for haze and fog clouds. That's why you see so few of these clouds in vanilla BHaH2. However, I haven't given up hope yet!
      Cheers!

A new campaign with the 94th Aero in France!

I don't really have the system as yet for the latest version of Wings over Flanders Fields but I was inspired to start this campaign after seeing some of BladeMeister's screenies of the Nieuport 28 in a certain other new sim, over on SmHQ. I've always liked the N.28 ever since making the newly-issued Revell 1/72 kit back in the 1960s. I'm no big fan of SPADs so I decided to start with the 94th Aero 'Hat in the Ring' Squadron in late March 1918, before the SPADs arrived.
We're based at Villeneuve les Vertus near Reims, which latter is behind the Lines to our north. I'm leading a patrol of four. We're new to this game and are starting out by getting used to the area, and to combat flying in general, well behind the front. So I'm not really expecting too much to happen today.

Here I am, ready to start up.

And there are the boys, shortly after doing so,  engine smoke blowing away in the propwash. As well as my foursome, A' Flight is putting up a pair of Nieuports to patrol the same general area.

As befits the flight leader, I'm first off the ground, into clear blue skies.

Time for a quick look at my map, I think.

Then up and away we go again.

I throttle back slightly and begin a gentle right turn to help the boys catch up.

I reckon that's Epernay, down there. If not, then I've wasted no time in getting us lost.

Right, now for the boring bit, the long climb for height, before the patrol really begins.
      ...to be continued!
