1. Cup of char, (or something stronger).

2. TrackIR primed and ready.

3. Pen, paper plus compass overlay. (for making notes and route planning).

4. Glasses on.

5. Make sure cats are 'not' in the room, (very important as a cat suddenly launching itself onto your lap during combat is not recommended.)

6. Headset on and launch BH&H2.

I like your number 5 point trooper about the cats. I have a Border Collie who sometimes comes in while I am flying and nudges my arm away from the flight controls because he is demanding affection

RAF_Louvert's Map, open on monitor 2 in GIMP with my flight path traced out

Headtracking set up

Stick and throttle plugged in (won't make that mistake again!)

Pipe handy for clenching between teeth or gesturing dramatically, as appropriate

Chocolate bar sitting in the freezer downstairs, to be retrieved when I'm at altitude

The most important things are ....

a) A swagger stick tucked under the left armpit.

b) A moustache cut to RFC regulations.

c) Ditto with the hair. Castor oil is good for the hair and skin.

d) A stiff upper lip.

e) Jutting chin.

f) Clenched teeth (with or without pipe).

Image is everything. All else is secondary. Die young. Look good.

I'm surprised that none of you aren't really taking this flying lark seriously enough!

It's a good look Troops but the gloves, in my experience, play havoc with reloading the Lewis via the keyboard. Or anything else, come to think of it.

Whattho chaps! New to this malarkey.

Wine to hand. Start game.

Leave game as have forgotten to turn on TrackIR.

Restart game and stare incomprehensibly at the screen trying to remember bindings I'd set a few hours previously on new HOTAS.

Remove hound from lying on rudder pedals out of habit, not necessary as actually I haven't figured how to get the things working in this sim yet.
