  1. Hey folks! I'm pretty new here and still learning the ropes. Could anyone help me out with a graphic glitch on the aircraft? Even though this is my first time modding planes into the game, I made sure to double-check everything so I copied and pasted all the files into the right folders. I'm using yakarov79's Hercules 1.0.0 mod. Everything works almost perfectly, except all the C-130s are missing engine audio (I couldn't find a sound file in the zip), and while the other C-130 variants look fine graphically, the AC-130 is glitched out. I carefully checked, moved files around, and reinstalled it a few times, but I still can't fix it and have no idea what I did wrong. There's one more issue with the helicopters. I'm using guuruu's Helicopters flight model 1.0.1 pack. Everything from the weapons to the helis and sounds is awesome, except... the third pilot is sitting out of position. Sometimes his legs and lower body stick out under the helicopter's belly, or he just hovers in front of the Mi-24's nose. I hope someone can point me in the right direction to fix these bugs. Thanks for reading!
  2. Man, I love this mod! It's awesome, thank you so much . Sorry if this is a dumb question, but it's my first time modding a game. Everything works completely fine and runs perfectly, except... the sound. Yeah, none of the vehicles have any audio, and I couldn't find any sound files included in the download. I'm not sure if I messed something up on my end? The AC-130 still plays the gunfire sounds when shooting, but none of them have any engine audio at all.
  3. Yeah, sometimes a simple, lightweight game that just focuses on flight mechanics and keeps things basic for casual fun is all you need. You could say this is truly the Counter-Strike or Left 4 Dead of the flight simulator world, despite the outdated graphics and being released so long ago, it still has its own dedicated community and is going strong to this day.
  4. Regarding the aircraft hangars, everything is completely stock. I have never modded anything into the game, so it's safe to say the entire game is in its original state. Joining this forum is actually my very first time intending to mod SF2, and as of the time I'm writing this comment, my SF2 is still basically 100% stock. I experience this on almost all terrains like Vietnam, Europe, Israel, Desert... Just panning the camera towards the hangar during takeoff drops the framerate, but if I look in another direction, everything is fine especially when I zoom in close on the aircraft with the hangar in the background. And as I mentioned above, the framerate takes a massive hit, dropping below 20 FPS, when the area I'm flying in has bombers or attackers performing ground strike missions in a custom campaign. This happens even though I don't include more than 40 aircraft total (counting both Red and Blue forces) in the battle (it affects both sides). Furthermore, if I fly near positions with multiple KPV/ZPUs or ZSUs firing simultaneously, the only way to describe it is an absolute disaster for the framerate. Yet, other AA weapons like the KS-19, no matter how numerous, do not cause this issue at all. It's incredibly strange because this FPS drop seems to happen selectively. As for my specs, I have 6GB of VRAM and 16GB of DDR4 RAM. Regarding VRAM, I'm not sure about the remaining capacity while the game is running, but monitoring software shows the game doesn't actually consume much system RAM. In fact, it runs lighter than when I'm using Google Chrome or opening Discord.
  5. Hi everyone, I’m experiencing the exact same issue even though my hardware is more than capable of running SF2, even at the lowest performance settings. My specs are an RTX 2080 GPU and a Core i7 CPU. My monitor has a 240Hz/3ms refresh rate. In most campaigns, my FPS stays well above 200. However, during takeoff, if my camera is close to the aircraft and facing toward the hangars, the FPS drops immediately. It gets much worse on the North Atlantic map; when taking off at the airbase there, my FPS plummets to under 20. On top of that, in my custom campaigns, the FPS drops to just 8–14 whenever multiple ZSU-23 or ZPU AA guns fire (strangely, this doesn't happen with KS-19 AA guns, no matter how many hundreds of them I place). Furthermore, whenever any AI aircraft attacks ground targets-ranging from B-52s dropping bombs to other attackers strafing the ground; my FPS takes a massive hit, tanking down to a miserable 4–6 FPS. SF2 obviously shouldn't be a demanding game for my rig, considering my PC handles The Witcher 3 and RDR2 on max settings perfectly fine. It’s baffling why the FPS drops so drastically in those specific moments. I used to think it was a graphics setting issue, but after double-checking, I couldn't find any errors and made sure the game is definitely utilizing the dedicated GPU. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If possible, please share your graphics settings so I can use them as a reference, since I'm not very tech-savvy.
  6. Thank you for approving me, and thanks to everyone in this community for keeping Third Wire's games alive. This game was a huge part of my childhood; I first played it back in 2008 when I was 14, and it had a massive impact on my passions and my life from then on. I definitely wouldn't be a military flight gear and field gear collector today if it weren't for these Third Wire titles. To me, it was more perfect than any other flight sim of that era, like Lock On. The Wings Over series and SF2 hit the perfect sweet spot between casual gaming and realistic simulation with just the right amount of authentic aerodynamics. That’s what has kept me hooked for the past 18 years, regardless of other, more advanced sims like Microsoft Flight Simulator or DCS. Sometimes I just want to take a plane out for a quick spin around the map for some casual fun, and SF2 does this incredibly well. Since it’s a piece of my childhood and has shaped so much of my life, this game will always hold a special place in my heart. I'm so glad I found this community, even if it feels a bit late for me. Knowing that so many people are still dedicated to this game warms my heart and makes me truly happy. God bless you all.
  7. Hello everyone! I’m a military aviation enthusiast and have been playing Third Wire's Wings Over... series since 2008. I’m from a Southeast Asian country, and it looks like there are many others here from Southeast Asia just like me. I joined the community hoping to download some aircraft mods to expand and diversify my collection in SF2.
