There is another way of doing this While in notepad right click file then select save as, in the Save as file type dropdown select all files, then in the file name use "(Quotation marks) in front of the name and at the end like this "MyMission.msn" select where ya want the file saved to then click save Learned this from writing config files for Q3 engine based games hope this helps MajBlunder -

I also have no engine sounds, same with the Tu-4, even tried changing the PropLoop to JetEngine in the planes DATA.INI..... Looks like i gotta extract the data files for the C-130 and take a look at how they are setup, maybe somethin in there might give me an idea of whats up with sounds... I found the info I needed over at SimHq in this thread http://oldsite.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/board...t=005745#000006 Used CALs DATA.INI info -
Practice your bombing with this mission
MajBlunder posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hiyas At the request of Dirtman I made a training mission to practice up on your bombing skills or lack off....hehe I have placed about every type of enemy ground unit available. NO AAA to worry about :) NO SAMS or radar, if ya want to see them, then grab my SEAD mission. YOU MUST stop in at the loadout as this bird is stripped. You also have the option to change aircraft. I also just figured out how to get the training missions to score a success, so look for the primary target. There are 2 target areas between wpt 4 and wpt 5 so have a look at both. Can you find the SCUDS? Here ya go http://mywebpages.comcast.net/MajBlunder/SFP1/bomb.msn Right click the link and select save target as, point it to your SF/Missions folder, then save If ya dont have a Missions folder make one in your main SF directory Enjoy -
Practice your bombing with this mission
MajBlunder replied to MajBlunder's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hiyas, Messing around some more with the missions I stumbled on this nice little feature. Currently the formations off all the ground targets has them spread out which makes it kinda hard to get a good strafe run or napalm attack going. Currently the ground targets are set in Battalion formation, if we change this to Convoy they get lined up all in a row. Open the .msn file with notepad [GroundMission001] GroundObjectType=T-55 Name=Tank Btn FormationType=TruckConvoy <-- Change it to look like this Size=15 <--if theres to many targets or not enough change this RandomChance=100 Position=373403.000,524983.000,0.0 Heading=270.0 <-- change this to make units face different directions. Speed=0.0 Alignment=ENEMY Edit any of the GroundMissions to your liking. -
Practice your bombing with this mission
MajBlunder replied to MajBlunder's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Its not a mission generator, its mission editor, I posted a link in the Radar Mission Topic in this forum the last time ya asked. I only use it to setup the mission, the rest of the stuff I add manually using notepad.. open up any of the missions I have made and posted here with notepad, you will see how the missions are structured. The hardest part is getting positions, to do that ya gotta turn on the debugger so that coordinates are displayed. When I first make the mission I remove all the waypoints and add a start position for a airbase I want to take off from, then I do alittle recon work flying around looking for places, pause the sim and write down the positions, this works good for waypoints. Setting ground objects is alittle more complicated. I will take off and fly to an area that I want to place these objects in, then I crash the plane and use the mouse to zoom around the area and record the positions. I then esc outta the mission and and go back to the start screen, alt+tab out and open the mission file with notepad and enter in the ground objects, 1 at a time, then save it and go back to SF and see how the ground object/waypoint looks. Takes alittle while but I have gathered lots of stuff now, and it only a matter of copy/pasting. I also had to use the extract utility to find the different ground objects that are available. IF your interested in making missions this way let me know and I'll try and help ya. -

Practice your bombing with this mission
MajBlunder replied to MajBlunder's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
the file must be saved as a .msn file check the file ya dl and see if it looks like this, bomb.msn if it looks like this bomb.msn.txt then it wont work. remove the .txt from the file and it should work. There was something i forgot to mention when dl. After ya right click and select SAVE TARGET AS, from the SAVE AS TYPE drop down select ALL FILES, then point it to your SF/Missions folder. My bad, I apploigize for any inconvience, -
SEAD mission for all to try
MajBlunder posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hiyas, At it again, this time made alittle something I think everyone will enjoy. Intel, Your Flight 2 F-4bs June 18,1970 Your base is under attack from enemy bombers, couple of Migs tagging along providing escort, small flight of F-104gs are engaging, launch when ready,(you start on the ground) and free to engage incoming bombers. watch out for friendly AAA. First targets are in the city of Mosak to the NNE(WPT#2), Light AAA can be expected. Secondary Targets can be found SW at Enemy Airfied P1(WPT#3), expect moderate AAA. ***NOTES*** Remember to stop in the loadout section of the hangar screen to make your last minute adjustments. Remember these enemy bombers have stingers in thier tails and can ruin your day. Right click the link and select save target as, then select your SF/Missions folder and click ok....ok? If ya dont have a Missions folder then make one in your Main SF directory get it here http://mywebpages.comcast.net/MajBlunder/S.../SFP1/SEAD1.msn Enjoy -
SEAD mission for all to try
MajBlunder replied to MajBlunder's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Thanks Fast Eagle, With each new mission I create I learn something new, My next mission will include moving ground targets. Maybe with some Migs tagging along to provide cover. :) Im also working on a Ship mission, cargo ships escorted by patrol boats that shoot at ya, but I havent figured out how to get the ships to float. Once I figure that out, rest assured I'll have it up for all to try. -
Hiyas, Made a Radar Mission using Keith Bedfords Mission editor, it nothing fancy, but will help those that seem to have problems getting radar lock on a target. Mission, You start out in a F-4e 15 miles behind 4 Mig 21s, your waypoints along with the migs are the same, so you can use autopilot if you run into trouble. Refer to the manual or the Radar Tutorial here at this site for Radar modes, ranges, and key commands. Then Migs will not engage you as long as you dont fly infront of them :) This is basically for Sparrows but if you close in on your target you can launch your sidewinders You can also go into the loadout section to change your plane, and loadout. Install: DL the small 2KB file and place it into your SF/Missions folder, if ya dont have a mission folder create one in your Main SF directory. Once installed start SF and select single mission on the left side select LOAD MISSION, then accept. Enjoy Get file here: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/MajBlunder/S.../SFP1/Radar.msn

Radar Mission
MajBlunder replied to MajBlunder's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Its BETA so beware that some functions are not working correctly. It includes a Readme.html file, this also is just basic info but the DL also includes a mission made by TK that will give an idea what a mission would look like. Note: dont try and add ground targets, theres a bug in this version that will overwrite the player aircraft. Adding ground units can be done manually though using notepad. http://www.freenetpages.co.uk/hp/keith.bed...ef/strikef.html I have also found out how to Start your missions on the ground from any of the Allied airbases. See the post here http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bb...TML/002964.html Disclaimer; I have no ties to TW or SF, using the ME is entirely your risk, so dont yell at me :!: Making missions can be addicting, Im not responsable for loss of love life or social life. -

Radar Mission
MajBlunder replied to MajBlunder's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
If some are having a problem with the dl, right click on the link above and select "save target as" then just tell it where. Also I have made a new mission that has AAA working its pretty hairy but if ya wanna try it to see how the AAA works here it is http://mywebpages.comcast.net/MajBlunder/S...SFP1/Bakdar.msn Use the same method to dl and install as with the radar mission Little intel on the mission, you start in air in a F-4E with a wingman, he wont engage, but makes a nice decoy :) Theres 40 targets ranging from the ZPU-2 short range AAA, ZSU-23 medium range AAA to the ZSU-57 long range AAA, there is also 3 SA-2 launchers but they wont fire. IF ya get smoked the first time dont worry just hit esc and then refly and try again, also you can change the aircraft and loadouts, this will also allow you to see how the ARM and Shrike missiles work on live targets. Enjoy -
