  1. Outstanding download! I installed it, and tried it for a few mins. Great sound too. NC
  2. This may not be a topic for this site, but this is the "Pub" forum, and I consider you all my friends. Perhaps not all of you are cat-lovers, but so be it. I have a siamese cat named, Armand, that has been a loving companion of mine for the past 3 years, and he is dying. He took sick about three weeks ago with an upper respiratory infection. I have given him all possible medications, but Armand is so weak, I don't think he will pull through this. Please keep him and me in your thoughts. I am trying to give my little companion all he needs to survive, but it is as if he has given up on himself. Pets are a gift from God. I am thankful, so very thankful that Armand has been part of my life. Navychief
  3. Hey Striker I just wanted to say thanks for your efforts. You obviously spent a lot of time setting the site up, and I appreciate it. I plan to visit it and give you some feedback, once I have time to read it all! Navychief
  4. Ok, for the second time now, I have installed a addon for FS2004, and it is NOT showing up on the menu of available aircraft. This time, it is the Global Hawk. All of my files are in their proper place. Can ANYONE tell me what the problem might be? Please, no jokes. This really has me pissed off. Navychief
  5. Here's two pictures of it. It is a very small head. The other wall has a darken-ship light, and a porthole mirror, the same diameter as the one in the picture. The sink is stainless steel, and came from the CHENG's stateroom of a scrapped destroyer. The ID plate outside the door isn't exactly what I wanted, but my source is still looking to get me a CPO Head ID plate. navychief
  6. I think Dagger made a post about that. There is a download for it, and I have it, but have not looked at it yet. NavyChief
  7. No, I won't be bidding on it. Much as I like F-4s, I have WAY too much stuff in this small house as it is! Navychief
  8. My neighbor alerted me to this item on EBAY. I thought some of you would be interested: eBay item 3142786961 Go see it. Navychief
  9. Hey Ranger Heck no I don't care! Of course, my interests are obviously in favor of Naval aviation though! That Global Hawk looks neat. Is it fun to fly? Navychief
  10. Here's one taken just after takeoff from NAS Cecil Field in a thunderstorm. By the way, I noticed there is a screenshot gallery, but how do I submit to it? Navychief
  11. Hey Seawolf Thanks for the picture! Yep, a lot of tiedowns required for heavy weather. Seems like I recall that as many as 32 or 36 were sometimes used per aircraft! Tiedown chains were a major pain in the arse for me as a Line CPO. I had the ultimate responsiblity of their inventory, and the blue shirts on the carrier were always throwing them over the side. I caught one of them doing it one night, and I damn near threw HIM overboard! I took his scrawny butt to his Div. CPO, and let him take care of it. Grrrrr. Navychief
  12. Took this while circling NAS Whidbey Island, WA GO NAVAIR! Navychief
  13. Nope, keep with the 60s and 70s era. That is the main reason I like this sim. So many memories from that time of my life. Navychief
  14. A BAM, for those who don't know, used to be a acronym that meant "Broad-Assed Marine" for female Marines. It isn't used today to my knowledge, ...but I found the following story about a female Marine on the Fox News Website, and wanted to share it: NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana — A Marine received 14 months in a military brig for using a military credit card for an unauthorized six-figure shopping spree that included a car, a motorcycle and breast enhancement surgery. Staff Sgt. Sherry Pierre worked for Marine Forces Reserve Headquarters Command in New Orleans when she made $129,709 in improper purchases in 2000 and 2001, military officials said. Pierre pleaded guilty to stealing from the government in a court-martial proceeding held in New Orleans in June, Capt. Jeff Pool, a spokesman for the Reserve, confirmed Sunday. Pierre also received a bad-conduct discharge, a $30,000 fine and a reduction in rank from staff sergeant to lance corporal. The verdict is on appeal, a process Pool said occurs automatically in such courts-martial. What an idiot! Have a great NAVY/USMC DAY! Navy Chief
  15. Ok, so when is everyone meeting on HL? I am on Eastern time. Also, I know that the mods cause problems for MP. I have installed a lot of them. Does that count me out for MP? Navychief
  16. That's too easy. San Francisco bay.......Alcatraz Island. navychief
  17. I just downloaded and installed a Super Connie, and it is magnificent! The sounds, everything! Highly recommend it. It is a FS2002 addon, but seems to work just fine with FS9. Navychief
  18. Hey Dagger Yes, when I initially installed the aircraft, it gave me the option of not installing the features that weren't supported. Well, I chose to install them anyway. I tried uninstalling the aircraft, and then reinstalling, but it is not giving me that option on the second time around. Any ideas? Still no landing gear. navy chief
  19. I finally found an aircraft I have been looking for; a US Navy Aries EP-3! It was made for FS2002, and I figured it would work ok in FS9. Wrong. Oh, it installed ok, but the landing gear are invisible. Great looking aircraft, otherwise, and the panel is good too. Can anyone tell me if there is a fix for this? Should be. Everything else looks fine. Main reason I wanted this particular aircraft, is because VQ-1 is the squadron I retired from, and this aircraft is modeled after the one that the Chinese brought down a couple years ago. I didn't actually fly in that aircraft, but my division took care of maintaining it! Navychief
  20. Hey Howling Well, I am afraid I don't have the answer, but am sure glad you asked the question. I would like to know how to do the same thing! Navychief
  21. Most of the other static display aircraft were moved to NAS Jacksonville. Here are pictures of some of the aircraft at NAS Nax now on display. The S-3, I think, had already been with a squadron transferred to NAS Jax when it was retired to display status. The Crusader and the Skyhawk were at Cecil originally. There are other aircraft there also, including a P-2V Neptune, and another Corsair. http://www.nasjax.navy.mil/index2001b.htm I am not sure if all of them went there though. I will do some checking on it. Quite a few of my fellow shipmates from my tour with VA-15 still live in Jacksonville; specifically in Orange Park. I'll have an update for you soon. Navychief
  22. Anyone who visited NAS Cecil Field, Fl when it was still operational will remember seeing the familiar site of the A-7 Corsair that was the base "gate guard", perched on a pedestal by the front gate. When the base closed, I always wondered what happened to that aircraft, and I only just recently found out. It has a new home at the Don Garlits Racing Museum, located in Ocala, FL. I emailed Don and asked if he had some better photos of the aircraft besides the one on his website, and here is what he sent back. This particular aircraft used to be at Pax River, MD. I was a Plane Captain on it during the early 70s. Navychief
  23. Welcome, Big John! I am not a modeler, but one who appreciate the efforts of those who are! You will like the group here. We are all very interested in making SFP1 better, and better. Bring on the "Sky Whale"! I have to tell you that when an A-3D (All Three Dead) would come in for a landing on a carrier; everyone would head for the catwalks! Navychief
  24. I will admit that I look forward to the addition of a "bird farm", but I am not humilitated about not being able to land on one. It sure will be nice to have that option, though! It is so encouraging to see the interest being generated in Navy aviation squadrons! Of course I have a, shall we say "somewhat biased"?, view on things; but the forthcoming release of the A-7 Corsair, with the various Attack Squadron markings, has defiinitely got me spending a lot of time on this site! All of the modders are contributing enormously to SF, and as predicted, this sim is becoming something truly great! Here's some USS Independence pictures. One of Indy's LSOs, one of a A-3 Skywarrior, or "Sky Whale", as we called them, and one of the Indy off the coast of Grenada. I was with VA-15 onboard the Indy at the time that picture was taken Go NAVAIR! and Have a great Navy/Marine Corps day! Oooohrah! Navychief
  25. Hey thanks, Dagger I plan to download and install soon. FS9 is quite impressive, eh? I was able to take only a few flight lessons before the cash ran out, darn it. So flight simming is the closest I will get to the real thing. Thanks. navychief
