  1. Outstanding, Raptor! I started taking lessons early this year, but had to quit abruptly, because I found out I owed the IRS Commies too much money. If it works out that I can afford it, I plan to resume lessons. Quite an achievement, Raptor! Navychief
  2. Well, I downloaded the file from AVSIM, and, as I mentioned on the Sim HQ site, I get constant CTDs when I get close to the carrier. Frustrating, to say the least. There were no installation instructions included with the file from AVSIM. I assumed that all files were supposed be placed into the Objects folder, which I did. Anyone have a fix for this? Navychief
  3. I went to AVSIM to download the Taiwan terrain, but could not find it posted there. Am I looking in the wrong location? Navychief
  4. Hey, I look at it this way. Think of computer games from ten years ago. Would you have imagined that they would have evolved to the state they are presently in? The graphics are so intense, and the realism is amazing!!!! No matter how long it takes, I am confident that my idea of Carrier OPs will become a reality for SFP1. This is a GREAT SIM!!! Thank you modders.......thank you from the bottom of my heart! Navychief
  5. My friends, I had to say goodbye to my little buddy, Armand, this morning. For the past few weeks, I watched him seemingly recover from his illness - only to see him get sick again, and quit eating. Last night was the worst I had seen him. He was so weak, he could not walk without falling down. It hurt me to see him in such a state. My once proud Siamese cat, who used to "rule" the house, could not even manage to walk across the room. After talking to our vet, and trying to decide what was best for Armand, I had to let him go. The next step would have been to put in a feeding tube, and the vet said that he might not have tolerated the sedative, as his physical state was so weak. It broke my heart to say goodbye to him. I kissed and held him, crying all the time, and so did the vet. Armand was my closest friend for quite some time, and he got me through a very rough time when I went through a divorce. I will miss him terribly. Losing a pet is something I have not had to do, personally. When I was younger, our family dog was put to sleep while I was on leave, so I was not there to deal with the grief. It wasn't until I came home, that I learned of her passing. And so, my decision to let Armand go was not easy. If I had let them do more testing, feeding tube, etc..., there was no guarantee that any of those measures would have worked, and indeed, would have caused Armand more and more stress. I would have been keeping Armand alive for me, and that would be selfish. Sorry I have rambled on so much. Thanks for being my friends when I need the support the most. Navychief
  6. I agree with Posting Freak. The list of recently added messages was a great feature. I miss it too. Navychief
  7. I agree, Redburn; this sim is great, even in its present state. The aircraft are beautiful, they handle great, and this sim is a lot of fun to play, period. And all the modders, with all of their talent, keep making in better all the time. I thank you all. Navychief
  8. If the US Navy didn't teach me anything else, it DID teach me how to be patient. Years and years of waiting in line tends to teach one that it does no good to get upset, because the line didn't move any faster as a result. For those who are upset at waiting for The Patch; well, I put my trust in the talented people who say it will get here. Good things come to those who wait. Navychief
  9. Congratuations, shipmate! And welcome back, even if but for a short time period, eh? NC
  10. I was just thinking how great it would be, if and when Carrier OPs become a reality. Just imagine it, the entire aft end of the flight deck, covered with aircraft, turning and burnin' getting ready to launch. One by one, they taxi to the cats. The JBDs go up, the jets go to AB, and launch from the bow and waist cats. Awesome! And then there's the recovery. F-4s in the pattern, with their telltale smoke trails; in the "groove", coming in for a trap. A-7s, F-8s, RA-5Cs......all the powerful, yet beautiful USN/USMC warbirds from the Vietnam era, coming back to the deck. Perhaps this will never become a reality, but I sure can think about it. Carrier-based missions would be such a thrill, don't you agree? Carry on, shipmates! Have a Great Navy/Marine Corps Day! Navychief
  11. Thanks, Dagger; I will be waiting to hear what you think! NC
  12. No kidding, Beer, we really ARE looking forward to your next music video. The first one was a hit!!!! Navychief
  13. I have a USB CH Pro Combatstick 568. Love it. Also, the CH Pro Pedals, and Throttle are great! Navychief
  14. AD, Your work is simply supberb! The IC-2 ESCAPAC seat was so simple to work on, and it was a proven performer. Removing the seat for maintenance took no time at all. What took the most time was disconnecting the canopy actuator, to allow the canopy to be raised straight up so the seat would clear the cockpit. Thanks AD. You are definitely bringing back memories. 15. Hey MJ I agree with Scout51 about wanting to contribute. I too, don't have much use for PayPal, but the money order route would be fine, if credit card payment is not available through some other avenue. I visit your site many times a day, and I really enjoy the atmosphere on it. So many knowledgeable, and friendly folks! I have nothing but good things to say about Bio Hazard Central! I have learned a great deal about flight simming from your site, and I will be more than happy to contribute to it. Navychief
  16. Hey Dagger Do you know anything about Project AI? http://projectai.flight1.net/default.htm From what I saw on their website, it is a collection of free addons for FS9. The thing is, there is so much available, and I do not know where to begin. I downloaded the installer program, but have no clue what files to start with. Have you seen this site? If so, have you installed any of their addons? Let me know if you can help. I like the idea of adding a bunch of aircraft traffic to the airports. It is eerie at the airports when there are no other aircraft there. Navychief

    Ouch...

Well, I can sort of identify with your "not knowing how you got there" feeling. I was on liberty in Antalya, Turkey. I had made friends with a taxi driver who could not speak English, but knew German. I knew enough German to get my point across, and I told him I wanted to visit some local bars. I offered him a zippo lighter from my squadron, and that is like gold to them. He not only took me to his favorite bar, but paid for all my drinks. The next morning, I woke up in my rack aboard the USS Saratoga, and had no idea how I got there. To make matters worse, my wallet was missing! I panicked. I immediately got dressed (with head hurting worse than I had ever felt), and began looking for the squadron Master Chief to tell him my wallet, including my ID card, was missing. Not a good thing. While stumbling down the passageway, one of my fellow CPOs met me, and said, "Hey Pete, do you want your wallet back now? You gave it to me for safekeeping last night." Talk about relief! I never got drunk like that ever again. That scared me. Anyway. Enjoy the partying, but try to protect yourself too. Once you start drinking heavily, all your common sense takes a hike. Navychief
  18. I like it, Dagger. I like it a lot! It'll be a blast to soar through those clouds. Should get some great screenshots. Thanks. Navychief
  19. Rule number one around pools: Do NOT RUN. Navychief
  20. Hey Snapple Yep, I too, am waiting for the infamous Patch #2 to come out, and then I plan on a lot of flying in this sim. I have received a couple of messages from folks, wanting to join the squadron. I haven't responded to the most recent one. No sense in doing any more, until the patch is released. How is school going, by the way? Enjoy the partying now. Real life has a way of taming ya. Navychief
  21. One of the skins for the soon-to-be-released A-7 Corsair is in VA-83 colors. I would like to know if the modders would consider doing another VA-83 skin, based on a later time period. Just bein' curious. Thanks. Navychief
  22. Hey FE You made a brief appearance a few weeks ago, and then vanished again. Just wondering if you are still around. Navychief contact me at: retnavycpo@hotmail.com
  23. I was on the way back from the dry cleaners with my Khaki CPO uniform. I am retired, but my soon-to-be wife wanted me to be in uniform for our wedding, the next day. As a result of the events of 911, we were'nt certain that the local courthouse was going to be open for business on the 12th! As it turned out, it was, thank goodness. At first, I thought (as did most people) that it was just an accident. And then the second plane hit. I don't care how long it takes, but terrorists must be made to understand that they will NOT win their war against the West. There will always be people who dislike our way of life. Fine. I can accept that. But killing innocent people is NOT the way to express such disdain. Personally, I wish they would dispense with capturing the terrorists, and simply shoot them on sight. Maybe THAT would send a message to the idiots that we are not going to put up with them. Navychief
  24. Hey MrMudd I have the same Nvidia card as you, and the overclocking sounds great; except which file do I download? There seemed to be more than one, and also, is it necessary to buy a new fan or leave the cover off? I have a lot of cats, and the amount of dust/hair is bothersome. I try to keep the case clear of it. Navychief
  25. Anyone have experience with this flight sim network? Please let me know. I just joined it, along with the Vitual US Navy Aviation network. Talk about serious flight simming! Whew! Anyway, I would appreciate any tips. FS2004 is definitely going to provide me with a platform for learning a LOT more about piloting. Navychief P.S. My wife and I are celebrating our "big" 2nd wedding anniversary this coming Friday.
