Baltika's Georgia Terrain?
Baltika replied to Spudknocker's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Hi guys, Thanks for the shout out... Still live and kicking, happily, though much more of a lurker round here than anything else, these days... Quite a few of my promised wip terrains still on the back burner, as a result of feature creep, overambition, RL, and, oh yeah, I've been reading up on Stary's 250m resolution mesh technique, that guy is awesome, but makes me want to retool some of these seriously... Will keep plugging away, they'll be here when they're done Slainthe! Baltika -

RED WINGS OVER DHIMAR Campaign mod for SFG by Baltika ******************************************************************** This is a very simple .ini edit to enable Red-flyable squadrons in the stock Burning Sands campaign for SFG. It is tested only in SFG with the Oct 2008b patch, although it should probably work fine in SFP1 as well, and the level of patch should not really be an issue. It WILL NOT work in WoV/WoE/WoI unless you have the stock desert terrain installed to those games, so be warned. Of course, I spent a day putting this together and then found the old Red Wings campaign lurking on a back-up of my old SFP1 mods. I can't remember where this was d/led from, and it certainly doesn't seem to be available now (maybe at avsim?). Anyway, the art of making Red-side flyable campaigns seems to have fallen by the wayside, so it's probably no bad thing that this version be uploaded for all to use. The campaign files will not write over the stock Burning Sands campaign, so don't worry if you have a modded stock campaign, eg with vinman's Burning Sands upgrades. This is a back-to basics mod. I run it on Stock SFG Patched to October 2008b No weapons packs or anything else. If you have Bunyap's pack installed, you may beed to edit the supply entries for each flyable air unit (in the campaign_data.ini) to get the correct weapons to show up. You will need to make the stock MiGs flyable - but if you are d/ling this campaign, you've already done that, right ;-) If not, you will need to install these pits:- MiG-19S Pit by ordway http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=6519 MiG-17F Pit by ordway http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=6469 Su-7BM Pit by Kukulino, modded from boopidoo's Su-15TM pit http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=6159 MiG-21F / PF / PFM pit by Paladrian http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=1919 MiG-21MF Pit by Paladrian http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=1745 I STRONGLY ADVISE that you DO NOT use the modded aircraft_DATA.inis supplied with some of these pits - they do not incorporate all the FM and AI tweaks to the stock FMs included with the new patch, so you will be busting your MiG down to a previous version if you do. Also, I have not included hangar screens or loading screens for the MiGs, but there are such things available if you want to add them in. I have set up the d/l package so it should be obvious where everything has to go. I have included a new mainscreen and title music, and Badger's Red-side Pilot Record Screen which is definitely Red-side orientated, so do not install the items in the SFG/Menu folder if you want to keep your existing mainscreen and title music. For that full-on Soviet experince, you may want to go the whole hog and install one of the Soviet comms mods available at CA. Any questions, give me shout on combatace. Balkan area on any existing terrains?
Baltika replied to MrGoTime's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Yup, this:- http://combatace.com/topic/74862-has-anyone-done-a-balkans-campaignnato/page-3 Sorry blaze, post #58 from 10 Dec 2013 represents the latest update on that map. I did drop Brain32 a line about his wip hi-res custom tileset, but it never saw the light of day. Maybe one of these days, I'll get around to finishing off this and a dozen other wips - like, when I win the lottery and quit my day job ;-) Meantime, best advice I can give anyone is to go back and read gepard's terrain building tutorials from the KB. Anyone wants to build a terrain, gepard spells out how to do it from scratch, step by step. http://combatace.com/forum/191-modding-terrainsenviroments/ All you need then is time (years!), patience (of a saint!) and lots of successful 1d20 save against sanity rolls. It will drive you nuts! Slainthe! Baltika -
Magnificent work, thank you sir! I have tested your new EAW140 single install in my Win7 64 bit desktop and Win 8.1 laptop, both running great, simple install and great performance. Brings back some old, old memories, looking forward to trying out the DAW campaign, which I missed out on first time around. Still missing horizon fog on my Win8.1 laptop, even though it has a Radeon card, but no worries, nglide works fine. (Would be nice to have native widescreen resolution, FOV and horizon fog in D3D, but I'm a retro gamer, I can live with the workarounds!) Slainthe! Baltika

Thanks to the CA staff for setting up this EAW section, got my interest in the old girl re-kindled, now I'm having a blast flying the new build. Now, for my question: I have the dreaded 7127 on any version but the 1.28B, but some of the campaigns I have tried are not compatible with that build. Sadly, Desert Air War 1.1 just CTDs in 1.28, and is unflyable on my system on the older builds because of UI/interface/settings issues due to 7127 error etc. So, really I have 2 questions. Any way to get DAW 1.1 running on exe 1.28? What campaigns are designed for exe 1.28? I already have the Mod Squad's BoB, great work to all concerned. S! Baltika

Battle of Britain FM Pack
Baltika replied to baffmeister's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
Hi Baff, Great work you are doing here on FMs. The old, old BoB campaign for SFP1 was what got me started on modding, and your suggestion of a new SF2 compatible complete BoB package has got me very interested again. I have an updated, unreleased version of the BoB campaign files gathering dust on my HDD, so count me in as a volunteer for your new BoB team. I will need to do some work to pull it all together for release, but if you want them, give me a shout. Happy days for me, made a lot of friends round here:- http://combatace.com/topic/19928-battle-of-britain-campaign-feedback/ Slainthe! Baltika PS Great Pics Geezer ;-)
