The Mortal Storm ... is it worth watching? (or in my case finish watching)
Nightshade/PR replied to Skyviper's topic in The Pub
It is worth it. -
Good Morning, The AF badge looks good, and I wore the uniform from 1977 until retirement in 1998.

I recently watched a documentary on the National Geographic Channel, and the synopsis is below: There is a neutron star headed our way, and we have 79 years to get this done. No if's; no but; no maybes; no extra time. This planet is going to die. And if we can't figure out how to save SOME of humanity, so does the species..... "If we faced a countdown to destruction, could we build a spacecraft to take us to new and habitable worlds? Can we Evacuate Earth? NGC's two-hour special examines this terrifying but scientifically plausible scenario by exploring how we could unite to ensure the survival of the human race." http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/channel/episodes/evacuate-earth/ The link to the full video on you tube is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7H54bpwANys A friend at work I convinced to watch this, and I were having a discussion on this, and he posed a very simple question. If you knew the world were coming to an end, and you knew when, would you tell the world? He said he would not, due to the ensuing social and civil upheaval. I disagreed, and the discussion ensued. So I'll put the question to you....... Would you tell them?

Just my 2 cents: Why not the standard "Hump" down the spine? -
I went with the 7 best for me..............Not ranked in any special order. El Dorado Blazing Saddles (it IS a western, just a completely foolish one) Silverado Open Range Lonesome Dove Quigley Down Under The Quick & the Dead

it may not "technically" qualify, but the funniest one I can ever remember for outright foolishness to make your sides hurt is "No Time For Sergeants."

U-571. As if the Germany Navy was ever that incompetent. And it was the British that captured the Enigma decoding machine in 1941. One sub being hit by torpedoes out of the night by another sub, and then the survivors taking over the attacking sub? You don't get to be submarine captain's by having the IQ of a turnip. A German Destroyer/Destroyer Escort/Patrol Boat/Minesweeper, whatever it was with what had to be the dumbest crew ever to sail the Atlantic... You roll up on a German Sub in the Middle of the Atlantic, and the Captain isn't the one doing the talking? And you let them train their guns on you? Not to mention that it was exceedingly rare to SEE a U-Boat on the surface outside of port, unless there was some sort of major issue/action going on. And a long litany of things that just don't make any sense whatsoever. If it were trying to pass itself off as a war movie, the title of "worst ever" would go hands down to the "Iron Eagle" series. They had to be the absolute stupidest scripts ever set to cellulite.

AGM-142 bug?
Nightshade/PR replied to RogerSmith's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Could it be the release delay needs editing, and the fusing distance / arming time as well? These are mine:I've never experienced premature detonation. Missed the target all to He**, but no wing detonations. ReleaseDelay=1.000000 FusingDistance=-0.500000 ArmingTime=0.500000 -

It's not the fear of social network tapping that worries people; that's the LEAST of anyone's concerns. It's the knowledge that if even 1 area of your personal communications is tapped, where will the intrusion in our lives stop? I for one, didn't spend all those years tramping around the globe in the name of "Freedom", to meekly give it up at home because so many of my countrymen are gutless cowards afraid of their own shadow, and are willing to give away what my wife and I risked our butts for in 2 conflicts on foreign soil, just for the illusion of someone telling them "it's okay." There's ALWAYS going to be a danger of some sort in the world, man-made, natural, or cosmic; so how is letting ANY agency read my personal communications going to help combat that? And I've heard the line "If you don't have anything to hide, what are you worried about?" Some of the worst abuses and atrocities in the world have been committed under the guise of "knowing what was best" for everyone else, by a select few. Making it legal doesn't make it right. I never forget that everything Hitler did in Germany was "legal." And if you consider that an extreme comparison, remember most disasters start with small events that people think "aren't that bad."

I KNEW it was a set-up, but I HAD to see what it was. Very Nice.
