well, there's kind of a problem with that ... assigning historical SAM units (types) to specific areas. Your RWR won't work. When placing correct/specific units (like I did for the Persian Gulf & Cuba maps) the game engine for some unfathomable stupid reason, can's "see" them with your on-board RWR gauge. You'll also get NO audio warnings either. It's been a glitch for, at least, 10+ years that I know of. So, we have to let the lame-ass engine populate by guess and by golly (not even going to mention NIKE radars showing up with HAWK or other Blue SAMS) -

yes and no. the userlist defines when Exported= is TRUE. So, if Turkey for instance, starts using S-300 SAMs, both the data inis for the launchers, radars, and missiles have to reflect that (Exported=TRUE) OTH, simply Blue or Red side WILL populate based on what year the mission is -
BaseSize parameter for carriers

which birds get parked are set in the airfield's ini, by wingspan. So, yes, you can have fer instance, an-12s or c-119 or that type on a runway 3 below, is from the runway3 ini (notaitons of acutal parking slots removed for clarity. also, the chance percentage has been modified by me to have more parked birds) -
BaseSize parameter for carriers
Wrench replied to Svetlin's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I would base it on flight deck size ... the stock Essex (SCB-125) is rated SMALL. This is correct, as they couldn't launch or recover Phantoms for various reasons (cat stroke, arrester cable strength) (had a friend who's dad served on the Coral Sea -- they even had problems launching at a full load) The stock Kittyhawk's (CVA-63) are classed as medium, as are the Nimitz class. You don't want to go Large, as that's for things like An-12s, B-52s, Tu-95s, etc The "rough fields" you taking about is the Runway3, is classed as SMALL -- and very stupidly created for this game. I mean, who the fuck is going to operated jets, with low-slung intakes just asking for FOD. (that's why I've repaved them on most of my terrain mods) runway 2, the part paved, part marston matt, is classed as MEDIUM, even though it's the smallest of those (1,5,6) So to conclude; if the CDG is near Essex size, use SMALL in the Entendar's data ini -

Wrench replied to Eagle114th's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
sometime you also have to edit the alpha channel of the gunsight tga, as it's not fully transparent in the "show though" regions. you can see on the image below, the shape is not pure white (0 opacity). Meaning: you have to redraw the lines to make it fully transparent -

ask away, brother, we're here to help! I'm trying o remember how I swapped out the secondary ADI on the F-104 pit and turned it into an RWR. I know it was a simple text edit of the cockpit ini, and adding the RWR bmp -

Speaking as a old dude (nearing my 7th decade), with crappy eyesight, I personally go for the brightest yellow possible. No matter how good our monitors are, there is always some loss. So, I'd rather give up some historical accuracy for playability. I've repainted many a gunsight tga simply for that reason -

SF2 no sound for add-on aircraft
Wrench replied to HantuLaut's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
don't forget, you'll need to extract the SoundList.ini from the Flight cat, then create a /Flight folder in your mod folder place it in there, and THEN add the new sound information. The .wav, of course, goes in the /Sounds folder (duh! ) -

SF2 Tu-16 Badger Pack by Pasko
Wrench posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
View File SF2 Tu-16 Badger Pack by Pasko SF2 Tu-16 Badger Pack by Pasko 11/1/2024 -For SF2, Full 5 Merged REQUIRED. Must Have SF2:NA!!!!!) -Another 1stGen Salvage Operation- This is a revamp of Pasko's Tu-16 Badger(s) from SF1 to SF2 "standards". This package contains the 3 variants of the Badger he and his team created 'way back in 2005. As stated above, a full-5 merged install is required; or at =LEAST= having SF2:NA in the merged install. This is because the Cruise Missile versions use the stock 3W cruise missiles (Although I've supplied the early versions). The 3 aircraft included herein are ... Tu-16 Badger-A (free fall bombs only) Tu-16K-10-26 Badger C (cruise missiles only; 1 centerline, 2 wing mounted) Tu-16G Badger K (2 cruise missiles, wing mounted only) A cockpit is supplied for each, with a working bombsight for the standard bomber. (See notes about the issues flying bombers in SF2). All weapons, execpting the KS-1 & KSR-2 missiles are stock 3W items (FAB, RBK, K10S). All markings are decals, and decal randomization is TRUE. All new Hangar and Loading screens have also been included, for you enjoyment. The aircraft are supplied with a number skins for the varying Air Force users. Some (re)use their original 1stGen decals, with a slight repaint to stop any 'fuzziness'. Many decals used (for Middle East and Soviet birds) are stock items. You'll get: Tu-16A: Soviet Silver Ukraine Silver (<1991) Egypt AF Silver (<1966) Iraq Silver (<1973) Indonesia Silver (<1961) PLAAF China Sliver (<1959) Iraq Green Stripe Camo (<1978)* Iraq Sand/Green Camo (<1980)* Tu-16C: Soviet Naval Aviation Silver (blue borts) Tu-16G: Soviet Naval Aviation Silver (blue borts) As indicated above, you can see the the SF2 "date switch" is active. The star (*) tagged above indicates these years are "best guess". When possible the original readme for all skins are within each skin folder, and notes are sometimes made on the textureset.ini. The PLAAF bird only gets 24 bort number decals, which are (hopefully!) historically correct and nearly the right color blue <grin>! Pilot figures are also included. For exact in-game usage for the C & G models, I'd suggest giving their data inis a looksee, as they have several Secondary Roles to fulfill. When in-game, on the Aircraft Selection Drop down you'll see: Tu-16 Badger-A (Pasko) Tu-16K-10-26 Badger C (Pasko) Tu-16G Badger K (Pasko) The (Pasko) differentializes these from the stock 3W Badgers (and any mods thereof). So you can't mistook them for anything other than what they is. As always fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them. All original readmes, when discoverable, are included. The 'Change Log' is of course, in the Notes section below. Good Hunting & Happy Landings! Question about cockpit.ini and 'firing cue' for accessbility
Wrench replied to Eagle114th's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
don't forget, you'll also need access to the cockpit MAX files to change things. Anything "physical" in the displays, with few exceptions, needs the ability to edit the LOD in MAX -
so, who wants to tell them we don't even HINT at any types of piracy? Grounds for perma-banning You want a better model, build one. That's how it works
