  1. nope, unfortunately you have to physically cut the gorges by painting them on the exported height map bmp, then reimporting, checking in game, and repeat as necessary. And it's all guesswork One of the main problems, is a 1 pixel brush creates a 5km wide canyon on maps of standard scale water features is something the terrain engine doesn't handle very well. At all. Been there, done that, lost the hair, etc (example: Yalu river valley in Korea, Panama Canal)
  2. in case you haven't noticed, half the gauges in Wolf's pit don't work. At least on Kess's Beau pit, everything works and what's preventing you from posting your OWN screenshot? You just attach the jpg. jeez...

  4. File Name: SF2 WW2 PTO Douglas P-70 Nighthawk (DAT) Tweeks Pak File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 26 April 2015 File Category: Other SF2 WW2 PTO Douglas P-70 Nighthawk (DAT) Tweeks Pak 4/24/2015 = For SF2 (Any, but Full 4/5 Merged RECCOMENDED/REQUIRED!) ONLY = **This mod will -NOT- work in 1stGen game installs.** This pak contains mods for the Dev A-Teams USAAF P-70 Nighthawk night fighter, as seen in the SoWesPac in 1943 thru 1944. This is an INCOMPLETE aircraft mod, as the main aircraft lod is =NOT= included, as per DAT directives. If you cannot access their downloads, don't bother downloading THIS mod, as it will be of no use to you. All other parts are included. See "Change Log" in the Notes section for more details and full credits. This package contains 2 aircraft, each with 2 skins. While tagged for the 6th NFS, 18th FG, they should be considered 'generic' for all the squadrons (4, iirc, with never more than 6-8 aircraft each) operating in SoWesPac. All aircraft are finished in overall Black (or Night, if you will): The 2 aircraft are: P-70 (no suffix, with 20mm belly gun pack and 2 cheek 50 cals for sighting the 20s) P-70A-1/-2 (with 6-gun A-20G type nose) The Skins are: Early, star-and-ball Late, star-and-bar (after 10/43) All markings (insignia, serials, etc) are decals. All skins are in jpg format. There are NO nose arts or other distinctive markings. All new, 100% historical serial number decals were created. Both skins for each aircraft use the same pool of 18 serials. Decal randomization is TRUE. The serials, while historically correct for the 2 versions depicted, should be considered generic in nature, as it's impossible to run down individual aircraft to a particular squadron. The Late skins for both uses the SF2 "date switch", and will automatically turn on in October, 1943 (although, the early A model may have been withdrawn from service eariler, or converted at local modification centers to the 6-gun "G" type nose). All skins are tagged as "6th NFS", even though at least 3 other units were operational in SoWesPac. Consider this a 'representative' unit. Operational dates have been adjusted to closest whole month. The P-70 has an end date of 1/1944, and the A-1/-2 has a start date 7/1943 through 5/1944 when P-61s were deployed in theatre. The radar "arrowhead" transmitter and "H" fuselage and "V" wing antennas have been added via the fake pilot method. The cockpit hatch opens with the Standard Animation Keystroke, Shift/0. My 'box art' style Hangar screen is included, now is SF2 format. When in game you'll see on the Aircraft Selection Dropdown P-70 P-70A-1/-2 This is to diferentiate the cannon equipped version from the 6-gun nosed version. As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. PLEASE read them!!! It is HIGHLY suggested you unzip this archive FIRST, and =READ= the install instructions BEFORE installing this mod. So you know EXACTLY what to do. Of course, read the Notes section for notes, enlightments, and so forth. Good Luck! Wrench Kevin Stein Click here to download this file

  6. no guarantee at all. the game engine ™ generates parked aircraft completely randomly, and never where you expect them. they're also generated by the terrain's nations ini, if LimitedNations is set to TRUE, and by the parking allotments in each airfield ini you cannot target parked aircraft because of this, only 'terrain objects'.
  7. the 2 previous posters have shown the actual entries from the types ini by default, types inis are NOT in the *name-of-terrain* folder on stock terrains, and will need extraction from the relevant terrain cat although, personally, I think Colmack got it right
  8. don't forget, in SF2 ANY aircraft that's set as Exported=TRUE MUST have a userlist ini defining the user nations (even if the same country, like USN & USMC), and all the Export dates must be set up in the data ini. Said nations MUST be in the games Nations.ini already, or in the case of US Army Aviation, added. Something Like This (example only from A-4B): [MissionData] NationName=USN AircraftRole=ATTACK AircraftCapability=DAY_ONLY ServiceStartYear=1957 ServiceEndYear=1965 Availability=RARE Exported=TRUE ExportStartYear=1957 ExportEndYear=1965 ExportAvailability=RARE As to weapons, when changing the aircraft within your flight, said aircraft will ALWAYS be unloaded, requiring you to hand-load any weapons for them on the loadout screen. Standard game glitch since 2003
  9. all TERRAIN objects can be destroyed (barracks, oil tanks, etc). The only ones with minus points (penalties) are 2 mosques. If you look at the terrains _types ini, all values are spelling out. only trees and the small building that are built into the tile via it's TOD are immune to all destructive effects
  10. pull the MessageSystem.ini from one of the cats -- iirc, the FlightDAta.cat. Place it in the /Flight folder (create if you ain't got one) and edit the top section. Make sure you HAVE the font you want, as the game engine searches for it. Again, iirc. If you remove ANY stock aircraft or objects of any kind, ALL stock campaigns will turn to junk
  11. destroyed a mosque (or 3), maybe? they incur a large point penalty
  12. got 'em! Thanks! here's the 6 gun nose, no gondola, with the antenna. still waiting for the new set, that moves the "H" recievers in about 6 inchs still have to do the correct serial decals if lucky, both birds ready by Sunday, maybe??
  13. MS Paint? didn't know that was even still around!!!
  14. the 20mm guns & pod was removed, for several reasons: 1) the guns weren't worth shit 2) switched to 50 cals -- 3) weight reduction. 4) all the above I have my own home-built template from 2007. But I llike the "dustiness". Can you generate a completely blank, no markings black skin, and shoot it too me? I'll add the markings via decals the A-1 and A-2 are the exact same aircraft -- the only difference is if the 50 cal nose was added at the factory, or modification center. Data ini tweeks are nothing job. raven is tweeking a new antenna set, and I'll have to the new serial decals. Looks like 2 separate aircraft will be needed.
  15. Raven tells me you also want the A-1 version, with the 6 50s??? Take a bit longer, as I'll have to rebuild from the G's data in for the guns. I also have to add back the 2 cheek 50s on the original, as it used them for "guide/aim markers' for the 20mms
  16. yes, they did. there should still be one in the SF1 downloads section
  17. it's also NOT set up for CV usage, as explained in the readme
  18. ok, Raven sent me the bits and pieces, got them all set up. Have some data ini tweeks to perform (fine tune), and finish the new historically correct decals. And remove that hideious nose badge, that's way off scale. and one more antenna to place give me a couple of days, and I'll have everything ready. All but the aircraft lod, as per usual, will be included, so a semi-complete aircraft in most respects
  19. Geary, just use the Beau pit we've been using. it's the "best closest fit". You'll need to have the "on screen" radar display active in the upper right corner. That's the only way it gonna work, If you haven't updated any of the Havocs, you'll need to fiddle with the cockpit ini to remove a bunch of stuff. Most of this has been posted in one thread or another in the WW2 Fourms in the data ini, the Fuselage section: ShowFromCockpit=FALSE in the cockpit ini, the position is: Position=0.00,2.5,1.2 at the top section add: at the bottom the ini, add it should look like this below (albeit I've zoomed back a bit, and it's an A-20G)
  20. no, there most definitely WERE G and K models G is the 'hard nose', with mg - the definitive attack model. Wish I still had my geen-u-wine Douglas aircraft company artwork litho that a much younger version of me destroyed in the 1960s... official R.G.Smith artwork. It depicted a G, flying over a snowy forest, with burning Panzers, firing it's guns. These prints now run into the several hundreds of dollars, and I had ALL of them! for all Douglas birds. So sad... heres a poor quality image of it.. http://s162.photobucket.com/user/rtb1980/media/Douglass%20prints/EbaySales005-1.jpg.html (the price ain't too bad, either! and framed!) K (and J) were 'glass nosed. iirc, export version (K)? I'd have to look it up the J would be the definitive bomber variant, and was used to lead Gs to target, and the "bomb on the lead" procedure
  21. no, I was actually asking "where they be??" (the ww2/korea era Essex).
  22. <cough> straight deck Essex??? <cough> ??
