Indeed. One should make the basic assumption that DAT mods do NOT exist. Those with the ini dancing skills can add them themselves. There are plenty of freeware ships readily available. A note on armed merchant ships: unless they're specifically a naval vessel (ie: an AK/AP/AO etc class) are illegal by international maritime law. They could be, and in some cases ARE, considered pirate vessels, and accorded the same treatment as any militant/combatant or naval vessel would be. The precedent was set in WW2, when for example, our Liberty and Victory ships while still carrying civilian registry, carried USN gun crews, keeping with the treaty conventions. These are still in place. That's the main reason we terraformers THINK in 100 year spans for terrain mods, and build accordingly. With FULL terrain mods and your moored ships are STILL backwards in their slips. For an accurate representation the Canal Zone and it ports, I'd suggest the "Eastern Med" map (modern rebuild of the ww2 North Africa). You'll see what I mean, when flying over the ports- 3 replies

Indeed! I think these "patrol bombers" are just something fun to have; seeing them loitering around the sky, or parked on the ramps. Player usage is exceedingly limited, unfortunately, as are all Heavies. -------------- 99 Squadon Wimpy's (mk.X), Burma 1942 -

it's not a "what if". 220 Squadron, Coastal Command, Fortress IIA. Flew from N.Ireland on North Sea/Atlantic patrols before moving down to Lajes in the Azores, and then transitioned to Liberator GR.VI & VII Some mapping issues with the cowl flaps, and I can't seem to get the 'up-swoop' on the fin quite right, but it's nearly 100%. Still have to do serials. Missing the ASV's Yagi antenna, but that's a minor matter, really When the other E models are done (ETO & PTO), I may release this. It's got NA coding for Naval_Search and Naval_Strike. (ETO 17E's are under the 4th FG Spit in the screenie below) -

it's not like we haven't already converted the SF2I Netz to the F-16A. but having the MiG-25 and F-5 would be a instant seller. Even without cockpits; which is 5 minutes work to install -

Port Said population
Wrench replied to ignacioc91's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
WHY do people constantly insist on mooring the ships ass-backwards??? Anything over 50m length is going to be moored BOW IN to the slips. Just look at any Real Life port. That's what tugs are for (getting them out into the basin, and turned to the stream). The only difference, might be RO-ROs; and even then it depends on the angle of the offload ramp. Also, wouldn't it have been better to split Port Said and Port Faoud (on the east side of the canal)? all in all, not bad! -

There's a Scandanavian Front "password protected/members only" forum already. I think JRL is in charge of that one. -

Bomber Formations
Wrench replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
there's a ww2 nations ini, that has the various statements for formations, and the ww2 formation ini. I swapped out the "stock" (first listed USAF) formations, and it still only give 2 aircraft when player flown. This is in, of course, a dedicated ETO mods folder. yours definitely looks right .. flights of 3 each. Let me experiment more; without using the ww2 formations ini. I'll rewrite the ww2 nations ini and return everything to stock, and see what happens below is a screenie of what most of us are getting -
Bomber Formations
Wrench replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
They're all in the ww2 downloads section, Harold .... any USAAF or RAF bombers. me wonders if it isn't a formations issue or AircraftRole= (I assume -oh! that word!- the Spirts are set as BOMBER, not ATTACK?) hmmm..... in the ww2 formations ini... we have this (note the bold) this is the STOCK 3W formation set further down, we have this for WW2USBomber: which is more like it. I'm going to try an experiment, and use these numbers in the 002 setup, and test. Hopefully, we'll start getting the correct bomber formations. BTW, there's statements for mediums and attack as well To say nothing of Japanese, German and Italian formation statiements.....hmmm....interestering.... -

Escort missions give you full squadrons as well. gotta be something in the base coding that's not allowing it on Player Controlled bombers -

SF2 WW2 PB4Y-1 (B-24D) USN Liberator, ETO Pak by Veltro2K 4/28/2014 (Full 4/5 Merged Reccomended) **Having a merged install is reccomended, as the destroyed model references the stock 3W An-12's destroyed lod.** This pack contains a NEW aircrft, by Veltro2k; the US Navy's PB4Y-1 (B-24D) Liberator as seen in the Atlantic theatre (both North & South). This aircraft uses some SF2NA 'mission statements'. It is designed for use =ONLY= in the North Atlantic/ETO. Research has not turned up any data about USN "D" models being used in SoWesPac or CenPac. Or in the Med. The unit represented herein are: VPB-105, as based in the UK. The aircraft is finished in "Atlantic Sea Search" camo, and while 'assigned' to VPB-105, is representative of pretty much all USN VPB Liberator units as seen from Iceland to Brazil, and all points in between. The skins are in jpg format. All markings are decals (excepting the wing national markings). The BuNums are 'generic' in nature, as they represent no particular aircraft within a specific unit, but ARE for the model variant depicted. Decal randomization is set to TRUE. There are NO nose arts. Weapons, pilot figures and guns are NOT included; you should have them already. Damage textures are in DDS format. When in game you'll see PB4Y-1 (D) Liberator (v2k) The (D) expresses that this version is based of the B-24D model, NOT the J, L, or M. All USN/USMC/USCG versions were called PB4Y-1, regardless of what sub-variant. As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. PLEASE read them!!! PLEASE read the "Notes" section for other important notations, in particular for in-game usage. Happy Landings Wrench Kevin Stein -
