stupid question
Wrench replied to Gulfwarfighter's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
you mean folder. maps have nothing to do with weapons! -- gundata ini are no longer required, as each gun has their own data ini within their respective folders. Said folders go in the /Objects/Guns folder -
Strike Fighters 2 Screenshots

something I've been experimentating with, on and off, for the last few years ... getting motivated a bit more! (very much WIP - needs more corrective work on the panels, and something is wonky on the tail meshes.) -

Anyone read German?
Wrench posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
and, yes I know we've plenty of native German speakers I just came across the official 1944 Luftwaffe manual for the FuG-217 radar on pdf. (see below) meaning: if Veltro is going to give us 262B-1a/U1, we might as well get the avionics right!!! (and yes I know it carried the 218 Neptun, but this is damn close enough!) -

installing SF2 ww2 eaw -euro-terrian
Wrench replied to deanklef's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
no nononono!!! ALL add-on go into the mods folder (ie: saved games/...whatever). NOTHING ever goes into the 'core install' in the C:/Program Files (x86) section. you need not ever touch the original terrain cats right from the readme: also, remember, it's designed for WW2 useage only! That's how the targeting is set up (to say nothing of the bases and stuff). Running it in years post-1946 may have some "issues". -

SF2 WW2 & Post-War Spitfire XIV Skin/Ini Pak
Wrench posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
File Name: SF2 WW2 & Post-War Spitfire XIV Skin/Ini Pak File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 31 March 2014 File Category: Spitfire SF2 WW2 & Post-War Spitfire XIV Skin/Ini Pak 3/31/2014 -- Something for the WW2 ETO (and post war) players -- = For SF2 ONLY, Full-5 Merged (Reccomended/Preferred) = *** DLC #29 REQUIRED for this Mod!!!! *** A reskinning of the stock 3W DLC 29 Spit XIV (14), adds a WW2 skin, and 2 early post-war RAF skins. They are: No 130 "Punjab" Squadron (as seen in the ETO in late 44-thru wars end) No 60 Squadron (Malaya, 1946) No 28 Squadron (as seen at Tengah, 1948) The Squadron Crest for each is used as the 'paint chip' seen on the loading screen. Included are modified data and loadout, userlist & main inis. For you viewing pleasure, a brand NEW SF2-style Hangar screen. The assumption (oh! that word!!) is being made that you've already made the aircraft player flyable, so no cockpit bits are included. However, my "One Click Restore Main Ini" (patent pending) is. No weapons (bombs and guns) are included, as all stock items are being used, but a drip tank is. The canopy has been activated via the Standard Animation Keystroke , Shift/0. All markings are decals (excepting SEAC bands), and decal randomization is TRUE (but is acting quite "oddly" for some reason). *Please Note: if you have PauloPanz's EXCELLENT Spit 14 skin pak, you may want to backup and compare his data ini to mine. You may also want to create a NEW One Click Restore ini , after it automaticly adds his skins -- See notes for changes.* As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them. Also, give the "Notes" section a read too. Happy Landings!! Wrench Kevin Stein Click here to download this file -

Mod Folder Location for Windows 7 (SF2NA)
Wrench replied to markkyle66's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
NOTHING goes into the core files (C:\Program Files (x86)\ThirdWire) except official 3W patches and 3W DLC addons. So to answer the question, yes you're putting them in the wrong place! from the SF2 Knowledge Base: http://combatace.com/topic/62302-what-is-the-mod-folder/ -

Decal bleeding : does it bring issues?
Wrench replied to Cliff7600's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
are these your decals (ie: made by you?) try switching to the stock 3W borts (there are blue ones, too) if it still bleeds with the stock decals, you have an open mesh. nice idea ... carrier based mig-15. -

without the OUT, it's one at at time Even with the OUT, and they're named "oddly", you have to read it like a tree, with the expanding branches, and try to use some logic to see where the child meshes attach to the parent (in this case and most, fuselage) Been there, done that. -
SF2 WW2 ETO Short Stirling Tweeks Pak
Wrench posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
File Name: SF2 WW2 ETO Short Stirling Tweeks Pak File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 28 March 2014 File Category: Other SF2 WW2 ETO Short Stirling Tweeks Pak 3/26/2014 -- Something for the WW2 ETO players -- = For SF2 ONLY, Full-5 Merged (Reccomended/Preferred) = Some tweeks for Veltro2K's recently released Stirling Mk.I. What this pack does, is activate ALL the included Squadron Code decals by creating skin folders for those squadrons. If you don't have it already, you can get the aircraft at the following link: http://combatace.com/files/file/14668-short-stirling-mk1/ (in other words, install the aircraft 1st, THEN this Tweeks Pack) As the decals and the ini in the above release are set up for the as-yet-to-be-released ETO All Inclusive mod by the DAT, we are missing the necessary files to create the selection drop down to choose which squadron gets what. This mod creates new skin folders, albeit with the original skin maps (more on that later), and activates the squadron code decals for the following RAF Bomber Command units: No. 7 Squadron No. 15 Squadron No. 75 "New Zealand" Squadron (original NCamo skin) No. 90 Squadron No. 149 "East India" Squadron No. 214 "Federated Malay States" Squadron No. 218 "Gold Coast" Squadron The Squadron crest for each is used for the 'color patch' as seen on the Loadout Screen. My (patent pending) "Box Art" Hangar and Loading screens are included, as are new DDS damage textures. You will be moving (read: copy/paste) the original skin maps to the MAIN aircraft folder (ala Brain 32's trick). As all BC aircraft of the time were painted the same, this creates no issues. As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. PLEASE read them after unzipping, but BEFORE installing, and FOLLOW them exactly as I've written them!!! Caveat: BE ADVISED, THIS MOD IS =NOT= TO BE USED WHEN THE DAT RELEASES THEIR ETO PAK. IT IS DESIGNED FOR USE ONLY BY THOSE END USERS THAT CANNOT ACCESS THEIR DOWNLOADS. IT IS DESIGNED FOR USE IN A STANDARD OR "GARDEN VARIETY" WW2 ETO MODS FOLDER, =NOT= FOR THEIR ALL-INCLUSIVE MOD. Happy Landings!! Wrench Kevin Stein Click here to download this file -

you can't make an OUT; that's only generated by MAX. what the Search does, is give you mesh names, if said name are "known" (or guessed at) -

XVI 32 is what I use. since I made my post above, I've been looking 'into' the lod, trying to figure it out. Not one of the 'usual suspect' is showing up (boom, probe, refuel, etc) animation-wise, it's definitely linked to the landing gear (it extends when the gear retracts), but doesn't help with removing it. At first I thought it might not be in English, but "left" and "wing" and "fuselage" all show up. -
