SF2 WW2 MTO Lockheed P-38J, 1st FG 3/1/2014 -- Something for the WW2 MTO players -- = For SF2, Full-5 Merged (Reccomended/Preferred) = This is a 'remod' package, fully revamping some earlier 1stGen skins by Gocad for Wolf257's P-38J Lightning. This is the full aircraft package, with all the goodies included (weapons, pilot, sounds, cockpit, etc). This package represents the 1st FG during late 1944 through war's end, as based in Italy. This is all 3 squadrons: 27th FS 71st FS 94th FS All new skins (now with rivets!!) are in jpg format. Each squadron has the correct plane-in-squadron numbering sequence, and squadron color flashes. All aircraft use a 'pool' of Serial numbers, and they should be considered 'generic' in nature, but ARE for the model variant depicted. All markings are decals, and decal randomization is TRUE. Each skin is represented by the WW2 squadron patch, as seen on the Loadout screen selection drop-down menu. When in game, you'll see: P-38J Lightning (W) The W is for Wolf257. This will diferentiate this P-38J for any other you may (or may not) have. As always, fairly easy to follow, highly detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them! Good Hunting! easy enough to be safe: make a backup copy * open the data ini, and "save as..." call it ori-*terrain name*_data.ini then, you can edit with impunity, as you have the original as a backup *the first thing one learns is modding SF/FE series: make a backup of the ini being edited

check the shader statements in all terrains' data ini ... very similar to what was happening in SF/Wo* and SF2 some info here: http://combatace.com/topic/34221-running-any-thirdwire-sim-in-windows-vista-by-usafmtl-column5-jtin/

SF2 WW2 PTO P-38F/G Lightning Pak

This pak replaces my SF/Wo* 1stGen 'generic' PTO P-38F. It is designed to represent P-38F/G model Lightnings as seen in the SoWesPac Theatre, in particular the Solomons Islands. The aircraft carries the markings of the 339th FS, 347th FG as seen in late 1942 through late 43. This is pretty representative of all early Lightings in theatre at this time frame. This is the full aircraft, and is complete with everything needed (except bombs & guns; you should have these already). The skin is in jpg format (now! with rivets!), Decal Randomization is TRUE. Damage textures are DDS format. When In Game, you'll see P-38F Lightning (W) The (W) indicates this as a Wolf257 aircraft, and will differentiate it from any other P-38Fs you may (or may not) have. As always, fairly easy to follow, highly detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them. Remember -- these are very old models, so they "are as they is". All original readmes, when discoverable, are included. Good Hunting! Wrench Kevin Stein Click here to download this file -
SF2 WW2 RAF SEAC Douglas Dakota Skin Pak

File Name: SF2 WW2 RAF SEAC Douglas Dakota Skin Pak File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 20 March 2014 File Category: Other SF2 WW2 RAF SEAC Douglas Dakota Skin Pak 3/20/2014 -- Something for the WW2 CBI players -- = For SF2, Full-5 Merged, + Expansion Pak 1 (REQUIRED!) = *You must have SF2:I Exp Pak 1, as this mod REQUIRES the stock 3W C-47* This pak contains Skin/Decal mods for the Stock 3rd Wire C-47A, representing RAF Dakota's in WW2, in the India/Burma (SEAC) theatre. None of my research has turned up an information if they were camoflagued, so the aircraft is in standard OD/Grey. Supplied are 26 plane-in group letters and RAF serial number decals. The serials, while correct for the Dakota, represent no particular unit and should be considered 'generic' in nature. There are NO squadron codes. Decal randomization is TRUE Also supplied is an updated/edited/adjusted C-47A User list, with many corrected dates. *NOTE: this skin pak is for RAF Daks in SEAC =ONLY=!!! Read: your CBI mods folder.* This little mod comes about as I'm sick and tired of seeing Dakota's parked on my terrains, with incorrect WW2 theatre markings (while not perfect even WITH this, they're a LOT closer!) Help with these questions?
Wrench replied to darkknight505's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
yes, indeed. after installing a patch or DLC aircraft, most (if not all!!) modified inis will be overwritten. as to the weapons, do they show up on the dropdowns for the hardpoints? (they may not, if their type -EOGB, for example- in not or no longer stated in the aircraft's data ini, due to the overwrite) -
SF2 WW2 DLC #28 S-99 (Bf-109G) Mod Pak

File Name: SF2 WW2 DLC #28 S-99 (Bf-109G) Mod Pak File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 10 March 2014 File Category: BF-109 SF2 WW2 DLC #28 S-99 (Bf-109G) Mod Pak 3/10/2014 -- Something for the WW2 players -- = For SF2, Full-5 Merged (Reccomended/Preferred) = *You =MUST= have DLC #28 to gain access to the stock 3W S-99 Lods* Some modifications to the DLC Avia S-99, 'backdate' it to its WW2 beginnings. The aircraft has had several modifications, not the least of which is the renaming to BF-109. The skin is a 'base' light grey (RLM 81?). All new panel and rivet lines have been drawn in. There is NO camoflague pattern, nor are the control surfaces fabric lines drawn in. The templates I created ARE included, in the hopes someone can make use of them and finish off the aircraft. Due to the resolution of the stock skins I used, I was unable to see the control surface lines well enough, or to find a drawing that matched well enough to try drawing them. Several ini mods add a 'fake pilot' belly rack, so the drop tank or single bomb will have something to attach too (as the Lod does NOT have this mesh). Some modification to FM statements try to bring it closer to published data. It may need further tuning by experts. Canopy opens with the Standard Animation Keystroke (Shift/0) The skin included is a 'base' Luftwaffe (albeit, again with no camo). The markings represent 11/JG 77 in late 1944. All markings are decals, and decal randomization is TRUE. When in-game, you'll see: Bf-109G10 (3W) As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. So, please =READ= them BEFORE installing this mod!!!. With any luck, one of our Expert skinners will grab this, and give us some nice Luftwaffe skins. Happy Hunting! SF2 WW2 DLC #28 S-99 (Bf-109G) Mod Pak
Wrench replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
if someone finds a later model cockpit, go for it. I just basically wanted to get the templates out, so people much better than I at LW camo, can have a wack at it! Unless we can bribe Stary to make one .....?????????????? AFAIK, all we have is Russ' Emil and Wolf's Fredrick -- which is VERY old!! (and may even be an FW pit!!) -

File Name: SF2 DLC #28: F-104C (61) Starfighter Skins/Ini Pak, Part 1 File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 17 March 2014 File Category: F-104 SF2 DLC #28: F-104C (61) Starfighter Skins/Ini Pak, Part 1 3/15/2014 = For SF2, Full-4/5 Merged, =WITH= DLC #28 (Full-5 Reccomended/Preferred) = *DLC #28 is REQUIRED for this mod!!* The pack contains some remods of Daves skins/decals that were originally seen on Anjundair's F-104C. Now that we have a better model (DLC #28), it behooved me to update it. Please note, this pack is set up for the F-104C_61 variant from the DLC pak (WITH refueling probe). However, with a simple rename of the skin maps, it can be used on the standard or garden Variety F-104C included in DLC 28. It is NOT for use on the F-104C_66. That will be covered in another mod pak See "Notes" for more information on skin renaming. This pack contains skins/decals for the following units: 479th TFW, George AFB: 434th TFS 435th TFS 436th TFS 476th TFS (all in stateside full-color markings) and 476th TFS, as seen at Da Nang, RVN in 1964 (called 476_E, with tail TAC Badge) All aircraft are in 'Natural Metal' finish All markings are decals, and decal Randomization is TRUE. The inis included are: Data.ini (operable canopy, Standard Keystroke, Shift/0) Loadout ini main ini Hangar screen (an SF2 revamped version of the 1stGen's F-104G) Loadout image (bmp) Avionics. ini (with non-historic audio-only RWR) Cockpit.ini, (with working secondary ADI and oil quantity gauges, ala F-104G) Please note, the cockpit itself is =NOT= included -- you'll have to find the F-104G's pit on your own. When in game, just to be sure, you'll see "F-104C Starfighter (61) (3W)". This will differentiate it from the 1stGen mods (see below, as an added safety precaution) When installing, just allow the overwrite of the inis. I've fiddled with the skin listing order, to make them more user friendly. Also included is my (patent pending) 'One Click Restore Main Ini' for when the game engine rewirtes it. Also, if you have ANY of the original Ajundair F-104Cs ported over to SF2, you are ADIVSED to rename ALL the folders (aircraft and decals), back them up or remove them from your mods folder BEFORE installing this package. There is a distinct possibility that this mod may merge with them, and really and truely foul things up! *REMINDER!!! You =MUST= have DLC #28 to access the aircraft's LOD.* As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. So, please -READ- them!! Happy Hunting! Germany terrain rework (Wip)
Wrench replied to Rends's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
the ship's destroyed effect is set to one of the nuke blasts. They go up like small nukes. all it takes is a rapid release/collapse of the pressure vessel, and any little spark will set the aerosols off. Hence, no destroyed model needed <evil grin> ------ that's Ras Laffan , Qatar, on the Persian Gulf terrain (where the ships are too -- in the included /Ground object folder) -

I know I did the SF2 GR.1. I don't think there's much difference in the mapping, other than perhaps the nose map? It might be adaptable?? EDIT: only the _6 map is different, as the GR1 doesn't have it. that must be the nose. all the other 5 are the same (checked against my templates here) -

Movement.ini questions
Wrench replied to Rends's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
all routes run in both directions. this in normal, and controlled by the game engine so, for instance your anti-shipping mission, the route runs from Cuxhaven to Hamburg. Sometimes the ships will run from Hamburg to Cuxhaven. Same with trucks. meaning: the start and end points are switched at random in single missions oh, and to answer the "how many routes can I have", iirc, it used to be up to 999 (!!!!), so there's no worries there :) -
