  1. there is an upper limit to solid and alpha objects in the TE. The Desert (the 1st version) of the TE can take LESS TOD objects than the WoE/V/I version. Which is why I converted one of the later to Desert only. It's much better (and that ain't saying much!!) the white halo, iirc, may a tga artifcat. Double check the terobject_tree.tga for unpainted sections. You might have to flood the non-tree sections with a dark color (black??) Yup. Terraforming's a frakking nightmare, isn't it???
  2. File Name: SF2 WW2 ADF Loop Antennas for CBI Usage File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 16 December 2013 File Category: Pilot Mods SF2 WW2 ADF Loop Antennas for CBI Usage 12/14/2013 -- Something for the CBI players -- = For SF2, (Any and All) = *Note: may also be usable in 1stGen SF/Wo*; 08 level probable. 06 Level unknown* Two versions of Russo's ADF loop antenna as used by US aircraft in the China/Burma/India theatre in WW2. One is standard Olive Drab (for standard OD painted aircraft) The other is Natural Metal (for non-painted, NM aircraft) These are added via the "fake pilot" method, as seen on the recently released P-40K-5 mod and the P-47D Razorback for China. The "fake pilot" is included as well. The psd template, for those that want any other colors, is provided in the OD Loop's folder. As always, relatively (speaking) easy to follow, but highly detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them. Also, give the "Notes" section a read too. Good Homing! Stary's lighthouses come in real handy sometimes!!
  5. THAT Is the wrong location. NEVER TOUCH NOTHNG IN THE CORE FILES!!! Dhimar and Paran are NOT listed in the game's Nations.ini. They only exist in the Desert_Nations.ini, located in the Desert.cat. The game automatically reads that for the Desert stuff. like Cocas said, use Baff's Desert Plus
  6. continuing in the same vein... having spent the last 5 days (and we're talking 12-14 hour days) fiddling with the old Burma map. It just NEEDS so much re-working, both in the height field for the various river flood plains, and retiling to 'make it look right, I think I've decieded that a completely NEW version of the terrain is needed, that greatly expands to the west to include the Ganges delta and Calcutta, along with all the important bits in east Bengal (Bangladesh), and Burma. And the various Allied bases along the coast (Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Akyab, etc) The hard part is, the E60-N40 dem gets cut off in the middle of Thailand; which is kinda important, for the Japanese airfields at Bangkok, and the central plain (found a map!!) are located there. To say nothing of the large bases in (French) Indochina. What I did, as you can see, with the E60-N40, cut off. what I'd REALLY like, is seen in the grey/blue one, outlined in white. I made the (gif--> jpg for posting) by putting the 2 gifs together from the E60-N40 and E100-N40 dems. This would give the region required, with the possible exception of NOT having Kunming in China (not that big a deal, really), but covering Indochina, Thailand, Burma and eastern India. Side effect, the Andaman and Nicobar become (semi) usable (on a side note, the 'curve' of the bay down near where Bangkok would be, has painted in. For some reason the top of the Malay peninsula and the bay were square. DEM issue, I'm sure) So, the main question is ... how the hell the hell do I do this!!!! For all the TE/terrain work I've done, I've never stitched 2 together before and successfully imported them! any and all help is appreciated! The WW2 players could use something like this, and it has the side effect of being updatable for 'modern' scenarios (India vs East Pakistan, etc and so forth) thanks!
  7. my terrain is NOT designed for use with that mod. why it don't work with that, couldn't tell ya.
  8. Somebody must not have Geo's WW2 Ground Object Paks. Japanese AAA is in there since 2008. Look to the 1stGEn downloads (iirc, that's where George uploaded them when he closed his site)
  9. well, the mustang had the lead computing k-14. I don't think the Jugs did (but not sure at all!!!)
  10. cool! does it switch between them, like I did for the Mustangs? (long ago, for Wolfs') [GunsightFront] HasGunsight=TRUE GunsightMilSize=50 GunsightName=USK-14_sight.tga AGGunsightName=USK-14b_sight.tga LeadComputing=TRUE MinLeadRange=100 MaxLeadRange=500 DefaultLeadRange=250 MaxDepression=0 DefaultDepression=0
  11. has this been done? Does it work? ( know the 1stGen doesn't -shaders? effects?) Does anyone have one that DOES work?? would like to see the chutes in my ww2 mods thanks!
  12. need a little help here...on the Hurricane IIb I can't seem to find where these to anti-glare shields are mapped to (as you can see, they come out a little reverse painted!!) Nose? Fueselage? (even looked in the UV sections for clue!) failing that, what are the mesh/node names, so I can "component remove" them??? looked in the OUT, but can't figure it out!! <grin> thanks!!
  13. and the cockpit ini, too, is some cases
  14. because the Earth does NOT have 60 degree axial tilt!!! (Neptune anyone?) wonder if Stary is/was modeling the wobble in our planet's axis??
  15. yes, early IIBs as sent to India/Burma in early 42 --- I cheated on this, and instead of repainting (cause I'm lazier than the average guy), just component removed them. Worked perfect! Most of these IIb/IIC/Trops in India & Bruma don't seem to have had the glare shields (at least according the photos from the Osprey books) have to redo the serials in black, but 98.6% done!
  16. sorry for issue! how odd that it worked for me "as is" better recheck the directionality of my back and/or forward slashes from now on!! edit: also, double check the statements for the STAR; it seems that I messed up, and left them pointing to another skin's decals folder!!! They should read: I must be getting old/senile ... I don't usually make mistakes like this!!! Sorry guys!
  17. File Name: WW2 Eastern China Terrain for SF2 File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 13 December 2013 File Category: Full Terrains WW2 Eastern China Terrain for SF2 11/18/2013 - For SF2, Any & All (Full-5 Merged Reccomended) = For Adventures in The Far East = *Note: This pack is designed to REPLACE, in total, any eariler versions of this terrain.* **Note2: IMPORTANT! Make sure you have the WW2 ground objects!!** This map repsents Eastern China (mainland), Formosa, the South China Sea regions from Chan-Chiang (Fort Bayard) in the south to Shanghai in the north, Taipei in the East and Chungking in the west. It has been COMPLETLY rebuilt from the original; almost nothing from the original remains, excepting perhaps the shapes of the land masses and oceans. The map depicts the region in approximately mid-late 1943. Some Friendly sites were eventually captured during Japanese operations in late 44. To that end, I've left 2 maps in the "extra bits" folder, showing the Japanese routes, for any campaign builders. The LimitedNations statement is set to TRUE, allowing only for the regional powers that took part. The terrain also makes use of the 'Allowed Missions' statement, as there are NO Friendly shipping routes for IJAAF/IJN forces to attack (although I wish we COULD use the rivers for such...they're just a bit too narrow). All other missions statement, for both sides, remain intact. LOTS of new tiles and their associated TODs have been created, and match the GH3 styling. There is also, as expected, a few Easter Eggs. Also included are several GroundObjects, (repaints/repurposing of 2 of Kesselbruts' Zil truck for IJA usage) and etc seen in my other terrain mods. These are designed to REPLACE any pre-existing ones I've done. Be advised, you'll still need many of the other WW2 PTO objects I've included in other terrain mod paks. Make sure you have them!!! REMEMBER: you will need the latest WW2 weapons and Guns pack! **Geophysical Disclaimer: some rivers and other water features may not follow their Real Life ™ courses, or be placed in their Real Life ™ locations, or exist at all. Several cities and other physical features may also fall into that classification. Some cities exist as 'named places' only. Some exist only as 'city tiles' sitting on the landscape. Some airfields may not be in their historical locaitons or headings due to Height Field and other tiling restrictions.** As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended you READ this document through after unzipping, but BEFORE installing. As always, the Notes and Other Nonesense section may make for entertaining reading. Please also read -and OBEY- the New Standard Usage Discalimer, as it's been modified to reflect changes in my policy. It's listed at the bottom, in the Legal Statement Section, with the URL back to the CA post. Good Hunting! wrench Kevin Stein Click here to download this file

  20. weird that you have to have 5 season on these virtual planets!!??
  21. in truth, it's a fuckload of work to repaint the water on ALL the tgas .. you go rivers, all the transitions (city to, grass to, jungle to, and then the sea/land transitions along with the 2 S tiles (s1 & s2) not something for the faint of heart

  23. File Name: SF2 WW2 P-47D Razorback, 91st FS, 81sth FG, CBI, Skin/Decal Pak File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 12 December 2013 File Category: P-47 SF2 WW2 P-47D Razorback, 91st FS, 81sth FG, CBI, Skin/Decal Pak 12/11/2013 -- Something for the WW2 CBI players -- = For SF2 ONLY, Full-5 Merged (Reccomended/Preferred) = **Note: this mod is designed for use =ONLY= in a WW2 CBI-Centric mods folder. In fact, research seems to indicate this unit (81st FG) operated only over China from mid-1944* New skin and decal set for Wolf257's P-47D-20 Razorback Thunderbolt, recreate the 91st FS, 81st FG as seen in China from mid-1944 thru war's end. The included data ini has several changes (listed below in "Change List") The skin is in jpg format, and decal randomization is TRUE. The serial numbers, while 'generic' in nature, ARE correct for the model variant depicted. In the folder "for china usage only", is a theatre-specific data ini, with the approximated start date/month of P-47 operations in the CBI. You should ONLY use that one. OTH, the other ini, in the main aircraft folder, can be used for any of Wolf's Jugs for ETO or MTO usage (after removal of the ADF loop statements, of course!) REMINDER!! Jugs in the PTO (ie: SoWesPac and Central Pacific), did NOT use the DF loop; it is a CBI thing only. Once again, making the point of having a CBI-only Mods Folder. As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. PLEASE read them!! Good Hunting!! Wrench Kevin Stein Click here to download this file
