Wrench replied to ValAstur's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
even thought the radar dish is inside that, it's actually called the "intake shock cone", and moves in and out (on the Real Life one and the TMF Fished) with airspeed, to control airflow turbulence in the intake duct -
Start dates for awards
Wrench replied to Sheriff001's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
you have to list the start date, as well, iirc look at the other nations, in particular the ex-USSR ones -

I assume this is what you men by WxH in the main ini: [Display] Screen-Width=1024 Screen-Height=1050 Fullscreen=0 Enable_Targets=1 Enable_Movement=1 Enable_Radius=0 Modify_Tags=0 Tile_Scale=2000 when I do so, and click the exe to start, I get a failure message: Unable to set graphics mode -
Yes, I know --- once again, I'm requesting something from sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo far out in left field.... You all know my fondness for Easter Eggs on terrains, and I thought THIS would top them all... even the one on the Kamchatka terrain (well, maybe not as eldritch evil...) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFQqmHQMJBY more detail on this one... (10 minute video) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=javwT9eyR9g after all, this does have the distinction of being the ONLY giant monster movie every created in Scandanavia (and if you've ever seen it, you'll know WHY!! ). Actually, if one has ever seen it, there IS some cool stuff with the Danish Army and Navy. I'd like to put it offshore of Copenhagen Thanks!!! (man, I can't stop laughing as I'm typing this!!!

Kamchatka Terrain for SF2 (by Baltika, Ver 2) 7/26/2013 = For SF2, FULL 5 Merged - SF2NA REQUIRED!!! = This is a rebuild of Baltika's Kamchatka terrain. It has been rebuilt (almost) completly, and is designed to REPLACE, in total, the original 1stGen Version. The Targets and movements inis have been redone, and are more reflective of the Real World . Place names have been changed to local spelling (where discoverable, spellable and pronounable). The Original Easter Egg is still intact; several others have been added, as expected. This terrain was (re)built and tested within my SF2:NA mods folder. It makes use of the various statements and bits (water bmps, etc) that are =REQUIRED= for proper CVBG and SAG operations. It is suggested that it =ONLY= be used in a pure NA environment. It will NOT work properly in ANY 1stGen install; so don't even bother asking. NA is also required, as several 'in port' ships are stock items. Like the Original Release, it is a "2 Season" terrain. Winter and Not Winter. It should be noted at this time, you =WILL= be needing all of WhiteBoySamauri's Soviet Ships, JMSDF ships, JGSDF ground objects, and any JASDF aircraft you can lay your hands on!! To say nothing of "the usual suspects" US and Soviet ground objects (trucks, tanks, APCs, AFV/IFV, even more ships, etc). Some are provided, but the rest you'll have to locate yourself. Geophysical Disclaimer: some rivers and other water features may not follow their Real Life courses, be placed in their Real Life locations, or exist at all (read: there are NO rivers on this map. See Notes for more details). Several cities and other physical features, and target areas will also fall into that classification. Some target areas (cities, etc) exist only as named places, with no strategic or tactical values. Just someplace to fly over. As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended you read the document through after unzipping, but -BEFORE- installing. As always, the Notes and Other Nonesense section may make for entertaining reading, as it explains a few "oddities" you WILL experience! Please also read and -OBEY- the New Standard Usage Discalimer, as it's been changed slightly to reflect a change in my policy. It's listed at the bottom, in the Legal Statement Section, with the URL back to the CA post. *Please Note: there are a few items still missing from the terrain, as well as a new tile set. It is being released "as is", with the caveat that when the new ground object and new tiles are ready, there =WILL= be an Update Pak. Until then, enjoy!* Happy Landings! Wrench Kevin Stein -
Cannot extract cat file
Wrench replied to hrc's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
do you have the WoI expansion pak? that might be the issue (due to inclusion of some sf2 coding) also, the old extractor seems to have gone tits up in Win7 (if that's the case - at least for me it has!) Gerwin's works fine; the only issue is it extracts the ENTIRE contents, not just the one or 2 files you need. But, OTH ... then you have them all readily availalbe -
that is just AWESOME!!! my wife loves it!!

RADAR WARNING LISTS
Wrench replied to ignacioc91's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
they got locked away over a year ago. for reasons that have never been made clear search the downloads for one of dtmdragon's mods, that has a bunch of them -
yes, indeed. I feel you pain. There is MUCH to be desired with the 3W terrain engine, and the tiling system. you can always edit the height field via the ***.bmp, (export height field as bmp, then paint the desired region to a lower altitude color --which is a HUGE trial and error work-maker), import height field from bmp, reflatten ALL the airfields, and test in game. Repeat until desired result is obtained. LOTS of times... Doing this now with the fjords in Norway for a ww2 map

Val, just post them in the CA Gallery, and use the 'link back' feature when posting in threads. Works a charm! -

Myasishchev M-4 Bison skin by X-Ray,does someone have it?
Wrench replied to casias111's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
all of Veltro's stuff was deleted a couple of years ago. Some have been re-upped for SF2 usage. since the Bison is/was a beta, it's highly unlikely ANYTHING remains of it, as ALL the original MAX files were also deleted by their author. -
Long term project...
Wrench posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
always wanted to have something this far north. (and needed too! not just for WW2 maybe?) Something for our Scottish members! (and to give the Banff Wing something to do, as we've several skin sets for Beaus and Mossies...) no date, expect a LONG lead time ... as, of course, the frakking TE auto tiles with fukloads of road tiles where farms and forests should be, the entire coastlines are done in the R series, and the whole triple cursed thing will have to be hand tiled for it's entire acerage (square kilometerage??) To say nothing of cities and rivers and the like. also, can you imagine the fjords??? (Slarti, where ARE you? This is YOUR specality!! LOL) Or placing the airfields in Norway?? oh boy ... what did I just do to myself??? -

Long term project...
Wrench replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
already crossed my mind -- as I had to watch the movie 2 days ago to try and figure out the location of the fjord (thank YOU DVD pause and zoom on the briefing sequence!!) As we already have their Mossies.... according to the map seen in the briefing, Sutton Craddock looks to be between Middleton St. George and Leeming. wish I had the last 4 books in the series; only have the 1st 4 -
