  4. anybody else notice, that when dropped/shot rockets and bombs are no longer exploding when hitting the ground??? Or water? they used to explode and leave a crater, even if you missed the target (which I do a lot....). Now, they just disappear under ground or into the water (when you miss). No explosions, no craters, no splashes from near misses. when a 'target' is hit -- usually!!! there's an explosion sound and effect and crater. Even runways aren't reacting as before. At first I thought it was the terrain; checked even the stock Desert in NA, and the same thing is happening.

  7. ok fixed it!! the whole frakking weapons folder, and all it's contents must have gotten corrupted somehow. I took the weapons from one of the working WW2 installs, and now things work like they're supposed to. even when you miss, the bombs and rockets go off. such nonsense...

  9. yes, hotfix was applied MTO and ETO are BOTH ok .. with the exact same weapons (weapons pak HAVRs and 500 lb bombs). All 3 are built from the SF2NA exe. EVERY SINGLE TERRAIN IN THE PTO MODS FOLDER IS EXHIBITING THIS -- from the bombing range, to the stock 4 terrains. this is just getting to be much... maybe I should try the plane-jane SF2 exe? But the carrier coding is needed from NA for Okinawa, Phillipines, Marianas.

ALL the PTO terrains I've been flying (in particular the Phillipines, but solomons, new guinea also...haven't checked okinawas or burma)... haven't check MTO and ETO yet. should state I'm on the 7/13 patch. even the stock 3W 2 ww2 bombs, and stock HVARs are doing this (tested with 3W Mustang). Checked all the weapons' data ini, and don't see anything "odd" remember, to test the 'disappearance', don't aim at the target, shoot short or long. just so you hit the ground

  12. I wonder why I had so few problems...?? now, oth, the Persian Gulf map, even WITH correct _water bmp, and (more or less) correctly placed zones, will still generate the occasional Elric "Ship That Sails Over Land and Sea"

I'd like to add the Japanese bases on Formosa, and the US bases at Manus and the Palaus to the Phillipines 44 map (as a great number of the Heavy Bomber groups operated out of them, and some mediums too. Formosa is obvious for the Tianan (sp?) AG). can someone explain how this works, in particular "locating" them. I've looked at the IcelandNA_Targets.ini, and while the statements are (somewhat) clear, how it works not so much example: I can see that Location3 is Scotland (and very obviously off-map!!), as I can assume (oh! that word!), that I'd need to add the locations for Formosa, Manus Island and Palau. But the actual X/Y coordinates are what's throwing me Do I put them at The Wall, in the 'general direction' of their location, or behind it?? TIA!!

  19. 2 way to create water bmp... the hard way is take the planningmap3, and repaint it in colors that match the 3W ones. The bitch is when converting to index colors, Windows format, sometimes the colors go wonky. the easy was is Gerwin's TFD tool. It generates the *terrain name*_water.bmp, and then you just paint in the colors for the red and blue side CV/SAG zones but don't forget to convert to Index color format
  20. saw that on FB yesterday. good to know Ron's fixing the shadow issue! The cockpits are WORTH the price of admission. Even thought I have them, I'll be buy them again, just to get the updated stuff!

  23. still getting freezes. oddly, it seems only with DAT aircraft. was testing a new skin for the A-20G, in an anti shipping mission, got stupid and shot down. game froze. also, has anyone noticed the lack of 'bomb water hit splash thingy effect'??? when you'd miss, there'd be a splash in the water. not now. and, no -- my pto mods folder don't use any aftermarket effects (except for the IOWA's 16inchers). all other effects use STOCK items. Or, -please no- it just may the Phillipines terrain....
