Wrench posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
File Name: SF2 WW2 Focke Wulf FW-190F Jabo Pak File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 10 January 2013 File Category: FW-190 SF2 WW2 Focke Wulf FW-190F Jabo Pak -- Something for the WW2 ETO players -- = For SF2, Full-4/5 Merged ( Full-5 Reccomended/Preferred) = *There is a possibility that this mod may work in SF/Wo* 1stGen game installs. However due to the excessive modifications made to fit into the SF2 environment, not all features will be avaliable.* *Note X2: this mod is designed for use =ONLY= in the ETO envrionment.* Mods, rebuilds, reskining/redecaling for Wolf's FW-190. This is the next of a series of FW-190 upgrades, that will cover those models (while still based off Wolf's original LOD), that were/are available from the 1stGen SF/Wo* mods previously released. With required upgrades for SF2. This mod is designed to REPLACE any 1stGen variant you may have in your WW2 ETO/MTO intalls. It is reccomended you delete the aircraft and decals folders of the originals, as to NOT cause any conflicts with THIS mod. This package contains 2 variants of the FW-190F as deployed in Western/Southern Europe, and North Africa/Med regions. Skins/Decals in this pak are: 9/SG4 (Western Europe, crica 1944) I-SG4 (MTO desert camo, as based on Sardinia) *Please note, you should =NOT= mix/match the ETO and MTO skins in an ETO only install (or MTO only install). See 'Special Install Notes' for further instructions* All Skins are in jpg format, and decal randomization is set to TRUE. A (semi) compliant SF2 FM was cobbled together from various sources. As always, while it works quite well, further fine tuning is required by Experten. Sounds, pilot figures and weapons are included, as well a new SF2 version of my "box art" Hangar and/or Loading screens. As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. PLEASE read them!!! Also, the "Notes" section for other important stuff of interest. When discoverable, all original readmes are included for historical purposes. *Due to the age of the physical model (LOD), this mod is being released "as is"; PLEASE see the Notes section for more info* Happy Landings! wrench kevin stein Click here to download this file -

iirc, it's a 'virtual' hook. there was something in AD orignal readme, but I can't seem to find it! edit: okk, the hood itsefl is NOT animated at all (and it's not like we really need it ... none of the 3W runways have the emergency arresting gear) however, if one hits the "H" key to deply it... something interestering happens (and this is not listed ANYWHERE in the data ini!!!) the AFR probe deploys!!! hey, that's kinda neat! edit: ok that 's the EF 105 and 105F only with probes... the 105G don't work edit x3 .. to make the probe work, change ARRESTOR to ARRESTER. wieird s**t!! -
Pasko Ju-87B SF-2 Update
Wrench replied to baffmeister's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
another thing... since we don't actually HAVE a destroyed model for the Stuka, this is what I've been using: DestroyedModel=Bf109FDest.LOD DestroyedEffect=VehicleFireEffect it's kinda close enough for wrecked & burning bird the destroyed lods are somewhere in the SF2 downloads section. -
File Name: What If... SF2 Lockheed (Y)F-12A Starduster by Veltro2K File Submitter: Wrench File Submitted: 07 January 2013 File Category: What If Hangar SF2 Lockheed (Y)F-12A Starduster by Veltro2K =For SF2, Any and All (Full 5 Merged Prefered/Reccomended) Re-release of Veltro's F-12A Interceptor. This is the FULL aircraft, with pretty much everything needed. If you have the original release, it's advised you delete it and use ONLY the items supplied herein (been some changes, doncha know!). This package also includes all the various 'tweeks' from my 2011 modification pak. The skin has been converted to jpg, and decal randomization is set to TRUE. Weapons, sounds, pilot figures, etc, from the Tweeks Pak are included. And a NEW SF2-style hangar screen. This assumes a fully operational aircraft, so when in game you'll is listed as F-12A Starduster On the aircraft selection drop-down menu. As always, fairly easy to follow, detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them! Veltro's original and my 'tweeks pak' readmes are included. Upgrading stock campaigns: Northern Sabre...any other ideas?
Wrench replied to macelena's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
is someone forgetting HOW SAM batteries work???? Leave the SA-6s alone ...they have to be laid out around their respective radars, just like any other SAM battery. Doing as mobile AAA will negate their effectiveness or completely shut them down. They'll just sit there like big dumb blind yahoos, and do nothing. the 6s are NOT like SA-8, that are integrated into the vehicle with search/track/ radars and the launcher. That why SA-8s can be classed as Mobile_AAA (in fact, someone a few years ago actually fixed the SA-8s .. might want to check the SF2 Objects downloads. that mod allows you 2 kinds of 8 - one as Mobile_AAA, and the stock version as Mobile_SAM) -

moved to the correct Forum WATCH where you post threads; the original post was in a forum for issues with the SITE (combatace.com), NOT with downloads. That is handled in the appropriate game forum -

Soviet Kittyhawks?
Wrench replied to Capitaine Vengeur's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
so, it's like my VVS Airacobra .. blue background, with red star. In all 6 positions? it's a DAT only aircraft, so .... it has to come from them. It should be still available from there ??? I guess!! You can always ask Ceaser! alternatively, if folks have WoA, and can just copy/paste the relevant file (all the inis, cockpit, etc) to use the new Sov skin -

So, at the very least you MUST have either SF2E, or SF2V to gain access to said destroyed model. Hence the Full 4/5 Merged reccomendation* Some major upgrades to ArmorDave F-105F Thunderchiefs, bring them more in line with SF2 at the Full-5 Merged/Latest Patch level, as of July 2012. This mod is desinged to REPLACE any eariler SF2 update/upgrade versions of AD's aircraft that may be availalbe. The package contains 2 complete aircraft: F-105F (standard NM finish) EF-105F Wild Weasel II (SEA camo) Skins remain in bmp format (as they're not excpetionally large in size), and Decal Randomization is TRUE. Damage textures are the older tga versions. Both data inis have all new FM parameters, loadouts have been 'adjusted' for Game usage (and may not reflect Real World situations, but =WILL= reflect Game World situations). New engine sound, and some other small tweeks. New SF2-style Hangar screens are included. No weapons are included, other than the drop tanks, as I've referenced all stock 3W items. See the "Notes" section for more info on the changes. When 'in game', you'll see on the Aircraft Selection Drop-Down Menu F-105F Thunderchief (AD) EF-105F Thunderchief Although the F-105F as used in the Wild Weasel configuraion never actually "officially" recieved the "EF" moniker, I've done so here to diferentiate it from the standard or garden variety F model. As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. So, please - READ- them. Also, give the "Notes" section a read too for futher explinations, clarifactions, illuminations and so forth. And notes about any SF2V campaign that may use this aircraft; some slight editing of the campaign ini may be necessary due to the 'name change'. A full listing of credits, as always, is below the Install Instructions. Good Hunting! wrench kevin stein Click here to download this file

Modified Stary cockpit for Hellcats
Wrench replied to Coupi's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
something wrong with Geo's Hellcat pit?? (not that Stary's pit isn't great...just saying) those 'grab bars' (no hand hold) would never been seen on a Naval aircraft due to 'crash protection' for the pilot ... even during arrested landings there was the danger of hitting one's head on the panel/gunsight. Having THOSE in the way increase the risk of injury -

no problemo!!... make the corrections to the relevant drop tanks data inis, either post them as a 'field fix', or shoot them to me and I"ll add them to the F-105F pack that's in the works!! take only a few seconds to add the camo tanks to the pak (as they're used on the EF-105F too!) -
Vampire 9 template
Wrench replied to slick cowboy's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
there are on templates available for 3W aircraft, other than what's been user made. Unfortunately, the Vamp ain't one of 'em there ARE 3 types of skins readily available for it in the various objectcats... RAF camo Natural Metal and possibly a desert (look for EAF versions) -
Setting up For WWII
Wrench replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
the latest Phillipines (and Okinawa) should have some NA upgrades around here someplace... if not, I can upload them carriers work fine in my PTO install on those terrains (well, excepting IJN on Okinawa ... there shouldn't be any CVs left!! historically. but they DO work if one 'adjusts' their death dates) Oddly, when I put the 'CVzones' on the PI map, I inadvertenly placed the IJN zone where Ozawa's carriers 'decoy' force was in the real world! as to there still being a future in SF2 of ww2... i think there is. Of course, we have to see what Exp3 brings -when and IF it finally is released. But I believe the game engine is as a (relatively) stable point, but we do have to 'wait and see'.
