Wrench replied to simonmiller416's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
there are a few high rises, but they're 'objects', placed via the target ini. Not very convienent to use (frame rates?), as there's only 5 or 6 different ones *** All the other building are 'built into' each tile, just like the trees and bushes They do effect frame rates. And honestly, they're not really necessary. Unless we're building Manhattan Island... *** check the Persian Gulf terrain by yours truely, modded from the original. -

Question about legality of using .LOD art assets
Wrench replied to snowburn's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
IIRC, "LOD" is just a format of exported 3d created items (Level of Detail). If that is true, it's not different than jpg or bmp or whathaveyou. In my view, I'd like a LOT more clarity as to the ultimate goal of the question proposed... What I"m reading it as ... what is the legality of using items the same or very closely related formats as the 3rd Wire Engine (tm) uses for it's object and terrain rendering, along with the various software controls used (dll??) used to run the SF/SF2/FE/FE2 series in their various iterations. Not a lawyer, but it if voilates and EULA and 'hacks' open (so-called) sealed libraries within the game's OS, that in my understanding is illeagle. But again, a LOT more claiffication as to the End Goal is needed -

SF2 F-86F Sabre, 461st FDS, USAFE Skin Pack

View File SF2 F-86F Sabre, 461st FDS, USAFE Skin Pack SF2 F-86F Sabre, 461st FDS, USAFE Skin Pack 11/27/2024 -For SF2, Any and All (Full Merged Recommended) This is a NEW (well, rebuilt) skin for the F-86F-40 Sabre. It is designed to be used on the SF2 F-86F-40 pack available here at CA. As this unit served in Europe (USAFE), it's recommended for a SF2:E installed Sabre. This set represents the 461st Fighter Day Squadron in approx 1956, when they use the "Euro Camo" (dark green/dark gray uppers, PRU blue unders). This skin will replace any earlier versions, as a small glitch at the aft wing root has finally been fixed and repainted. You get 24 historically accurate decals. Meaning: those marked with a star (*) have been postively ID'd as have been used by the 461st. All the others, marked with the cross/plus sign (+), while having served in the 36th Fighter Day Wing, could not associated with a particular squadron. The skin is in jpg format, and decal randomization is TRUE. The SF2 date switch is NOT used. A new skin specific Hangar Screen is also included. As the 461st is a 'stock' squadron, the squadron displayed name is activated via my (patent pending) fake SqTail decal. On the skin selection menu, on the Loadout Page, you'll see: 461st FDS, 36th FDW USAFE (Camo) As is always recommended, unzip to a temp folder or your desktop to give easy access to the rest of this readme for it's install instructions. SF2 F-86F Sabre, 461st FDS, USAFE Skin Pack

I used a more OD color; the image is more green, and I believe closer to what they actually used. IRL, it was only used for less than a year. It's nice to see a REAL one that still is flying around!!! -

def like the 'stock' look better. I'd just like to mention the higher contrast of that will give a much better picture when used at night (where a LOT of intercepts were expected to happen -- expecially in the High Arctic) I went checking my books of PDF; have the Aerofax on the F-89, plus the pilot manuals for B/C, D, and H models. But they don't show the radar screen imagery. (sorry!) Still think the Phantom pit I used would be the best bet -- It's got the needed twin engine anuniciator panels for engines and such. Some of later missile controls can be easily 'moved' out of sight -

as that's the F-106 pit by Pasko, "smoothing polys" was not a thing back then (expecially on his work) Didn't Eagle use Stary's F-94 pit for Scorpion? -
I saw that too ... thought it looked really cool!!!! Nice modeling job, that
