  1. Due to my inability to wrap my head around the importation of the physical object needed for creating a GreenHell style (or Germany Forest) TOD, I need someone Expert In Such Things (ok, Brain 32 or Stary -sorry guys!!) to create a new jungle tile for the item seen below. Creating the new tile (bmp and tga) was really only the work of a few minutes ... I can add 'regular' trees, but not the thick jungle/forest type needed. While not a perfect replacement for the GJ-Riv transition, it's MUCH smoother and looks a hell of a lot better in game. So, I'm reaching out here....this is needed for the Okniawa rebuild, and I'm sure will also find it's way to other terrains using the VietnamSEA tile set (along with a few other new tiles I've done) TIA!! wrench kevin stein
  2. There are 5 air bases in the Okinawa area, several of the 'expansion' bases have a 1946 start date as we're assuming a non-historical 1946 start for the invasion (as opposed to November 5, 1945 as was originally planned for Olympic) This mostly because 06 level games don't support specific date start times for terrains and other objects (aircraft/ships/vehicles/etc) So, non-historically, Kadena is a Runway4 (the large one) for bombers, Ie Shima has it's original Runway3 with a Runway2 expansion (a small medium base), as does Kadena - Runway3 then in 46 the expansion Runway2 appears as if by magic (or hard working SeaBees) This dosen't include the carrier station surround Okinawa, including the BPF off to the southwest more or less between (off the map) Formosa and Kuyshu. Obviously, there need to be carrier stations (and the troop/supply convoy stations) off Kyushu and Shokaku for 46; these I haven't added as yet -- since we're missing any kind of APA ships (assault transports for those that haven't seen the movie "Away All Boats" - which is great film!!) It's also been delayed in getting it ezlead, as I' keep discovering errors that need straightning out -- city tiled areas with no 'city' attached to it, and the addition of several new area. Fer Instance, in reading 'Broken Wings of the Samauri" this weekend, I discoverd that we're missing Omura city/airbase -- this is majorly important as Omura Naval Air Station is/was an important seaplane base, and more to the point, the main base for 343 Kokutai, the "Squadron of Experts". Unfortunatly, I can't get it close enough to the water (it's on the eastern side of the bay, opposite Nagasaki) for the seaplane base ala Otsu/Lake Biwa so, I"m plugging away at it ... so ezlead, when you read this -apologies for the delay, I'll get it to you as soon as I can!! I also need a custom jungle tod for a new grass/river/jungle tile I made, but can't do the addition of the 'items' in the TE. A post to that HELP!!! will be in the Mods/Skinning fourm wrench kevin stein
  3. Yup, Ant is right!! I'd forgotten that; with the caplock or /shift, a different letter/number comes up wrench kevin stein
  4. modern style font? amrillo usaf is the one is use (got it simmerspaintshop, too!) not stencil, but good nonetheless. i take you've already got the 'usaaf code' and 'usaaf_stencil'??? SPTiberian is the Hebrew font I have (unfortnately, I've forgotten how to read it!) wrench kevin sten
  5. TNT: use the "edit" button in the lower right corner of the post ... you'll get "Quick Edit" or "Full Edit". Either one will work just fine wrench kevin stein
  6. Since it was done by bunyap, it's still at his site: http://www.bunyap2w1.com/ follow the link in "Airplanes" wrench kevin stein
  7. Interestering concept, excepting it's not working ... CTDs right back out, with singlemision.dll fault or no message at all. You've missed some VERY essential items that are REQUIRED for all terrains: 1) Planning maps -- at least 2 are needed 2) Movement ini -- it's just the GermanyCE one. Needs rebuilding to reflect the Blue/Red sides; and a) friendly and enemy bases shouldn't be so close together; I'd have placed them on opposite sides of the map, like I did with the Fighter Bowl terrain. 3) Nations ini -- needs both sides defined (location001 and location002) and the nations listed. 4) Mission types: you can't have a strike mission (as stated in the readme -even CAP was CTDing for me) without TARGETS!!! Items of some targetable value MUST be placed somewheres on the map, otherwise CTDs ensue. If you want, I will be glad to give it a "once over" and straighten out the issues. Only if you want, of course! I'm already fixing mine... wrench kevin stein
  8. The Abrams in the ODS mod were complety revamped, armor-wise when we released it. Armor also changed to TITANIUM, as it's MUCH stronger than steel. Right now, the M1's will take 3 direct hits from a T-72 before brewing up. Didn't do anythigh about the gun, however. Don't forget the allowed armor types: wood glass aluminum steel titanium that's all we're given. Obviously, 25mm of titanium is MUCH 'thicker' than 25mm of wood. I can post the sections with the values, if anyone is interested, and don't have ODS, wrench kevin stein
  9. Nice art work! The only other time I've seen that is a b&w drawing in my Fancillion book -- it never leaves the computer's side!! Timmy, you'll know we'll take anything we can get!!! I wonder who we can tap for FM data ini work??? We could also use some Allied Landing craft....since I just added the 3 main landing beaches to Kyushu (LCM, LCVP, LST, etc). I could adapt the DAT barges as LCs, but don't want to hassle with the permission issues. ezlead wants to have a go at creating a what-if campaign, so I'll be sending him the terrain VERY soon!!! Just have to work on the movements ini for the GA routes from the new beacheads. also to several NEW custom tiles!!! Lots of NEW targets (buildings and such), the aforementioned rivers, the target ini has been 95% completely revamped, as has the terrain itself (tilewise) wrench kevin stein
  10. Is it safe for one to assume that the terrain inis would also need conversion to Unicode??? wrench kevin stein
  11. The Terrain Editor Thread

HERE HERE!!! Crosseyed, crazy but still able to load my pistol or rifle or shotgon..or or...or..... Personally, I'd reccomend a semi-jacket hollow point, in your favorite caliber thats LARGER than .38. Or a 12 gauge.... Or anything that leaves are REALLY big hole.... wrench kevin stein
  12. Mix and match reskin for the B-36B. Needs more serial number decals, of course, and I'd like to change the painted on circle-w to a decal, but really don't want to make a new template for just the tail region wrench kevin stein
  13. Project Supercar (USAF)

TX: nope, Gerry Anderson's "Supercar" ... google it. I remember watching the show (and all his other 60s stuff as a kid -Fireball XL-5, Captain Scarlet, etec) wrench kevin stein
  14. Can't quite make out what's happening in the first screenie, so I'll leave that one alone. On to the second... You mean Duster's can't swim???? To answer the question, rebuild the targets.ini; first to be checking the EXACT locations of the objects in the varying target areas -ie: where are they now, and them move them to spots NOT in the ocean. It's a known problem with terrains where the targets have been laid out with a 'copy/paste' style of populating. This is most prevelant with cities; as these need (ok, REQUIRE) a custom, indvidualized layout for their objects due to the differences in tile shapes/type used. Something I'm all tooo familiar with!! For an easy cheat to check EACH target area, see this post in the KB: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showt...mp;#entry317500 Honestly, I don't know why no one ever thought of it before!!! It's a fraking life/eyesight/mind saver!!! And works like a charm!! wrench kevin stein
  15. lately, terrains and targetization, with the occasional skin/ini mod. I can leave it to the rest of you to give us the toys (planes, ships, vehicles), but where would they be without a playground to run around in?? wrench kevin stein
  16. Project Supercar (USAF)

You guys are ALL wrong!!! There's only ONE Supercar ... and this is it.... wrench kevin stein
  17. Try this link, direct to the SF2 "NextGen" Knowledge Base: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showforum=246 Enjoy! and Welcome!! wrench kevin stein
  18. Somebody's never read "The Wingman" series.... Galaxy Gunships have already been "created". 3 in fact, Bozo, Dozo and Nozo. Can't find the references in my copies of the novels, but at least 3 Vulcans, 6+ miniguns, etc wrench kevin stein
  19. Have you locked your keys in the car?

Never heard about the cell phone trick before; I'm going to try that one out!! Locked keys in car? Shoot, who hasn't!! I got a better story on that .... when I was in college (ok, local community college, taking my Auto Tech & GE classes), I was between classes, and went to the car to switch books. This was in the mid-70s, and I was driving my first car -69 Camaro. So, I get to the car, open the trunk, put my keys in my jacket pocket. Since it was mid-day already, and warming up, I didn't need the jacket -- one of those big, heavy flight-jacket types. So I take it off, toss it into the trunk, and slam the lid down. And then realized the keys were STILL in the pocket. Fortunately, one of the guys in my autoshop classes was a AAA driver, and had his slim-jims with him. On those GMs it takes about 2 secend to pop open the door. Of coures, it took another halfhour to remove the back seat, and on one had ever done that before, so we could reach through the now open area behind the upright and grab my jacket to get the keys. Needless to say, I went and got copies made, and always kept an extra set in my wallet!! wrench kevin stein
  20. Car on the fritz

AFter nearly 30 years in the business, I'd agree with gwar ... Toyotas are exceptional for durability and maintence (my mother, sister and sister-in-law all have Corollas -- SIL's has 150000 plus, with NO major problems EVER!!) Something along the lines of the Corolla would be my reccomendation, IMHO. Me, I'm a GM guy. dswan: your Malibu have the chronic steering noises too?? (I've got an 05 Malibu). After 3 racks, 2 intermediate shafts, damn dealer STILL can't/hasen't fixed it!!) eraser: sorry to hear about your bad luck. I'd definately report it to the local better business bureau and/or the state's bureau of auto repair/consumer affairs wrench kevin stein
  21. More information is required.... fer instance, when it "aborts" (clarifcation needed here -- aka "CTD") do you get an error message? If so, what does it say? Meaning, the lttle M$ warning box that pops up and says something like "SF2 has experinced a something-or-another and needs to close" There is also, usually, a little hyperlink that states "click here to see what this error message contains" or words to that effect. Also, are you following the proper procedures for adding new terrains and skin as outlined in either the readmes included, or in the SF2 Knowledge Base?? (REQUIRED reading!!! ) Are the campaigns FULLY edited for use with SF2 NextGens??? Are all necessary objects present (ground and aircraft)? You're not giving us a lot to go on here ... give us the step by steps YOU used to install, you may have missed a step or another needed item wrench kevin stein
  22. why not just use the data already present in/on the C-47B? Since it's already set up for paras...and the Cab IS a C-47....(considering I did all the conversion work to Russian-ize it for the DAT) wrench kevin stein
  23. All the ones I've tested work just fine ... just make sure of your cat pointer line Tested: SoCal ASW Modern Darwin Libya Canary Islands Cuba (old OTC one) Indo-Pak (not finished -- was just checking) Fighter Bowl Black Sea ANW 4 Seasons oddly enough, not tested either Ranges (but should work just fine) my feeling is, if it works in Classic or TOS versions, works just as well in SF2 NextGens Since we only have the original 2 TEs, and aren't likely to get a new TE for the forseeable future (and all the terrain naming conventions are the same in BOTH series), I don't forsee any problems. wrench kevin stein
  24. gads, that's funny!!! BTW, missing city1.tod wrench kevin stein
