green hell for the phillipines

Yah! Nice Sally skin!!! Is that around anywhere?? The terrain looks a LOT better, too!! So Edward, please don't tell me you went 100% on the Burma map.... I just finished upgrading the targets on the old one, and was going to upload it in a day or 2, after final testing. Everyone knows how time consuming, and nerve wracking it is to tie together all them bridge pieces...and there's a boatload of bridges across the cursed rivers!! Well, I'm sure I can, as 7 of 9 would say "adapt". So, seriously, "2 weeks" after SCW??? Wrench kevin stein -

That's my understanding, too...they have to be fixed by hand. Wish I know how to do -- SoCal could really use it!! PI IS on the list to get "targets enhancements" (after all, my Dad was there 44-46 - and I have the photos to prove it!! ), but it's waaaaaaaaaay down the line. Have to see if there's enough 'empty' space for some of the larger fields (runway1), other than Clark, which already has 2. Brother, don't I know that one! I still haven't gotten to ErikGen's new Nike batteries; Modern Korea reuild in 65%, Burma 99.9%, China not even started. Not t mention FastCargo's XF-103, and boatload of skins -included a new CBI only P-51A, (having a hell of a time with markings, numbers for the tail), Hurri 2C/IV Trop -with Vokes-. Plus all the other usual goofiness... Wrench kevin stein -

"Terrain objects, scenery" Those truck are perfect Geezer (yes I got the email, just forgot to respond!) Those are actual building in the back, yes? Given a skin they could replace some of the tents are Runway3, or other buildings around the other fields. Lowpoly or not, given a re-used data ini from the any of the Zils or M35, they'd be showing up in Armed Recon. As long as set to "TRANSPORT" WRench kevin stein -

The right tiperon has a HUGE decal bleed, which is why I moved the star/usaf off of them. Also some bleed under the front nose, forward of the gear bay. Yah, if you could get the doors to stay open on the ground, I can tweek out the interior of bays a little more. Also, is there anyway to add a forward bulkhead, that would seal off the cockpit from the inside view?? Maybe break the mesh down into 'main body' and 'nose' - that might help with decaling. Or is this a cockpit lod thingy?? Damn Thuds with all their window!! I've almost got the proposco-scope/cockpit view dial in - which means that everytime I change it, it moves the wrong way!! Or too much the right way!! Want to get the gunsight centered on the porthole (for landlubbers--its that round llittle window!!) Still can't figure out where the interior of the intake scoop is mapped to, and the "engine inlet" bulkhead. The damn nosewheel tire it too small -- I'll expand the 'black' area. FM wise!!! Oi!!! don't want want to go there... I was, however, thinking of adding a 2nd engine, to simulate the ramjet; would only operate at 85-100% throttle, but I'd need to cut the SFC to 0, so it don't run the bird dry. Russo' Lightning's Avon burner might be a good sound. As to the faceting, ask Julheim or Dels or the TMF guys or any 3d dude -- I'm just a crappy skinner! Rockets...hmm...there's some good ones in my F-89D upgrade...at least they fire. But I did use Lexx's cheat to mount them, so the AI pilots will fire them. Wrench kevin stein -

Having the lined UVMap, like Juls showed is the way to start. This is the one Capun created for me to use, to create the skin for the FW-19D-9. I tried to zoom in a little, so you can the mesh lines... You HAVE to have Photoshop, or at least Gimp to really start doing them right (MS paint!! I almost fainted dead away!!) Using your J-5A as an example, you've already got it mapped identically to the stock one on the wings and tail surfaces. I can see the hard part would be adding the section for the radar nose, as there isn't any real room to grow on the 'boby.bmp'. Below is my 1024x1024 MiG-17 Fresco template, based off the stock skin, resized, with totally redrawn panel, rivet lines and interior detailing: Look on the right ... look at all those layers!! And not all are showing! You can also see there's no room left for growth to add the nose radar bubble. My suggestion would be to create a seperate map for just the nose, breaking the meshes down. That's similiar to what I asked Capun to do on the Floatfires -- just create a sepearte map for the floats. The game engine will put all the pieces together. As to your MiG-19/J-6, if you look in the Skins downloads secton, you'll find a ready-made 1024x1024 skin template: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=5590 It's there for all to use ... J-10 centerline fuel tank
Wrench replied to Svetlin's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
If we had some pictures to compare the J-10 tank to, say the MiG-21's or 23...we've got a lot of varying sizes to choose from; 600l 790l 800l 1500l and some I'm certainly missing all existing as either stock or in weapons packs. A very simple matter to create "copies" via hex editing and reskinning Wrench kevin stein -

Wrench replied to Baltika's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
One way to not get tasked, is give the Runway a target value of 0. I"m not sure if there are other Runway5s in the PI map -most likely not, as runway 3 got kinda overused in all the PTO maps- or use one of the 'copies' I created for Okinawa; that semi-paved "runway7" or even Runway4, the super big one. Just have the value set to 0 It's a bummer about the B-17C/D -- I always wanted to do a skin for "Mary Ann", the Fortress from the moive "Air Force". It would also open up skinning opportuinties for RAF Costal Command's Fortress Mk.1, based in the Azores, and elsewhere. Wrench kevin stein -

Do BOTH the J-10 data and loadout in list the new fuel tank??? It has to have both entires, the game are kinda particular when it come to th correct pointers. Example, the F-4E: Not having the J-10, I can't look at it's inis... Wrench kevin stein -

Sweet! BTW, the Val was done by Pasko. I won't quibble on the historical versions of the B-17 -- since we don't have the C/Ds the 19th BG had. Very cool! Gonna try this one! Wrench kevin stein -

Having a decal issue, lil' help?
Wrench replied to SayethWhaaaa's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Since it's the stock 3W one, I can't tell you to "look at the OUT file", since we don't have it. BUT....as it IS the stock one, why not look at the decal positions from the existing decals inis?? USN birds always had something on their tails. Adjust the fore/aft, up/down as needed. You can also use the data ini, as it often gives the mesh names, and you might wind up looking inside the lod with hex editor, searching for "flap" HINT: look in the ControlSurfaces section of the data ini. Distance parameters you'll have to figure out for yourself Yah, I'm a meanie!!! Wrench kevin stein -
Damn!!! I missed that ... hopefully, it'll repeat or perhaps it'll show up "On Demand" (if ths Sci-Channel is carried OD!!) That's what I get for watching "Deadliest Catch" I LOVE that old-school space exploration. Perhaps because I grew up during it. ... yeah, I know, I"m old Wrench kevin stein

Here here, Juls!!!! Not to be insulting, but the J-5 and J-6s already exist, including the Paki versions w/sidewinders and the additional pylons -- and they're all based off the stock Frescos and Farmers. With less than 5 minutes of ini editing, ALL those early PLAAF planes can/have been recreated. In fact, that's how Madcaddie and howling1 did them-- over 4 years ago. All they really needed were decent cockpits, and Richard Ordway's taken care of that. Check out the "More Migs" and ''More Migs 2" paks at AvSim. Also, you'll find them listed in the 'Bunyap Pak Weapons Fixes Thread'' in the KB, and the "What's Available Thread". Exellent resources, that don't seem to get used enough My major point: don't waste time and effort re-inventing the wheel; give us NEW stuff, to fill in the empty parking spaces at our airbases!! Just my 2 cents... Wrench kevin stein -

Extract the WOV A7B?
Wrench replied to Stratos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Use the avionics ini from the F-4B/J, well, any Phantom!! That should get what you want. Don't forget to change the DetectSystem section in the data ini to match the Phantom's. you might need the afterburner tga in your /Effects folder from the Cruz, or swap out the AfterburnerEmitter= line for something else. You may also need to adjus the postion, fore or aft in the EngineData section the max airspleen may be releated to other parameters in the flight models (ie: those CLa, CLo, etc -stuff I don't understand) in the other parts of the data ini. Also, activete the HUDDebug in the HUDData.ini, so you get the TAS reading in the display. It also give the actual Mach number for your TAS. Don't forget the difference between IAS and TAS Wrench kevin stein -
