    Merry Christmas

Hope the weather gets better though - there's even snowflakes on the front page!
  3. Again pinched from elsewhere: 'Flightsimmer's Christmas' Twas the night before Christmas, and out on the ramp, Not an airplane was stirring, not even a Champ. The aircraft were fastened to tiedowns with care, In hopes that come morning, they all would be there. The fuel trucks were nestled, all snug in their spots, With gusts from two-forty at 39 knots. I slumped at the fuel desk, now finally caught up, And settled down comfortably, resting my butt. When the radio lit up with noise and with chatter, I turned up the scanner to see what was the matter. A voice clearly heard over static and snow, Called for clearance to land at the airport below. He barked his transmission so lively and quick, I'd have sworn that the call sign he used was "St. Nick". I ran to the panel to turn up the lights, The better to welcome this magical flight. He called his position, no room for denial, "St. Nicholas One, turnin' left onto final." And what to my wondering eyes should appear, But a Rutan-built sleigh, with eight Rotax Reindeer! With vectors to final, down the glideslope he came, As he passed all fixes, he called them by name: "Now Ringo! Now Tolga! Now Trini and Bacun! On Comet! On Cupid!" What pills was he takin'? While controllers were sittin', and scratchin' their head, They phoned to my office, and I heard it with dread, The message they left was both urgent and dour: "When Santa pulls in, have him please call the tower." He landed like silk, with the sled runners sparking, Then I heard "Left at Charlie," and "Taxi to parking." He slowed to a taxi, turned off of three-oh And stopped on the ramp with a "Ho, ho-ho-ho..." He stepped out of the sleigh, but before he could talk, I ran out to meet him with my best set of chocks. His red helmet and goggles were covered with frost And his beard was all blackened from Reindeer exhaust. His breath smelled like peppermint, gone slightly stale, And he puffed on a pipe, but he didn't inhale. His cheeks were all rosy and jiggled like jelly, His boots were as black as a cropduster's belly. He was chubby and plump, in his suit of bright red, And he asked me to "fill it, with hundred low-lead." He came dashing in from the snow-covered pump, I knew he was anxious for drainin' the sump. I spoke not a word, but went straight to my work, And I filled up the sleigh, but I spilled like a jerk. He came out of the restroom, and sighed in relief, Then he picked up a phone for a Flight Service brief. And I thought as he silently scribed in his log, These reindeer could land in an eighth-mile fog. He completed his pre-flight, from the front to the rear, Then he put on his headset, and I heard him yell, "Clear!" And laying a finger on his push-to-talk, He called up the tower for clearance and squawk. "Take taxiway Charlie, the southbound direction, Turn right three-two-zero at pilot's discretion" He sped down the runway, the best of the best, "Your traffic's a Grumman, inbound from the west." Then I heard him proclaim, as he climbed thru the night, "Merry Christmas to all! I have traffic in sight."
  4. Culled from comp.sys. ibm.pc.games. flight-sim: `Twas the night before Christmas out here where I am. Not a creature was stirring, not even Saddam. The stockings were hung in the ready room with care, in hopes that care packages soon would be there. The J.O.'s were snuggled in their racks nice and tight, Wishing to sleep until noon with all their might. I closed my eyes & settled down in my rack we had just completed our most recent night trap. When out on the roof we heard such a clatter that we clambered on deck to see what was the matter. Away to the kneeknocker we flew like a flash, I tripped on my flip-flops and opened quite a gash. The moon was as big as my now swollen knee And we squinted against it's glare upon the sea When, what at 3/4s of a mile should appear, But a miniature sleigh and eight tiny reindeer. The driver called the ball "Santa Ball Ho Ho Ho" We watched and we waited as he got a too little low. We knew in a moment that it must be St. Nick Because none of us could fix a low ball that quick. He planted it nicely on the three wire with care And glanced at the LSO's as if with a dare. With a twinkle in his eye he received his debrief When he heard the words "No Grade" he stood in disbelief. "You don't need to be Santa Clause, for I am he, But don't wait too long for something under your tree. After a pass like that on the eve of Christmas Day You'd think that even Santa might get an OK!" He threw his gift sack on his back, in a huff Saying "I can't believe the Navy puts up with this stuff." He mellowed a bit as he got down below And started to chuckle, there was even a glow. From ready room to ready room he went lickity split. Filling our stockings and chatting a bit. Telling us of our families and friends far apart How they were keeping us in prayers and close to their hearts. As his sack began to empty, his work here all done, He bounded to the roof and to Catapult one. He rogered the weight board and readied his sleigh, With a push of the button he'd soon be on his way. "Now, DASHER! now, DANCER! now, PRANCER and VIXEN! On, COMET! on CUPID! on, DONDER and BLITZEN! Pay attention to what you're doing, this is no time to forget, If things don't go perfect, we ALL end up wet! A salute to the Officer, who then touched the deck. We watched Santa's head nearly snap off his neck. But we heard him exclaim as he rose out of sight "I AM GLAD I DON'T HAVE TO DO THIS EVERY NIGHT." We thought we had seen the last of the old guy Until the Boss said "Clear him for one more fly by." He came from bow to stern, an impressive sight Yelling "MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT."
  5. One of the .ini wizards has & was refining it iirc. You can achieve a high rate of success against them by constant observation (I run at 1600x1200 res which maybe helps) & manoevring but it's the one that you don't see that gets you (that or when you are low in energy) all of which strikes me as fairly realistic from what I have read.
  6. Was reading some info the other night about WW's - even in the Gulf War it was surprising how many anti-radiation missiles were fired versus sites killed. As for the A-6 in WoV the stock is an A-6A model. There is some debate as to whether this had RWR or not but it seems likely that if it did it was an audio signal only.
  7. CD1 is back up http://www.pawgclan.com/Super_Pro_9.2/disk1.exe & CD2 should be up by Monday afternoon Central time.

The next installment of my effects updates are ready for d/l. Included is: -Re-released Aircraft explosion -SAM Launch Effect -Small,medium,large bomb effect (Very large bomb effect coming next) -Naplam effect -An updated 20mm gun hit effect that I always like to look like HE hits...I like em, if you don't then just get rid of the ini. -I've also included some sounds I like to use, up to you if you want to use em or not. I noticed that some were missing in the Soundlist.ini, like the cbu explosion, text file shows what needs to be added. If you are prompted to overwrite any textures, say yes. You did back up your stuff first right? Note 1: Some effects might affect you framerate, sorry bout that but they run fine for me so if you get hits, guess it's time to pry open your wallet and buy some current hardware Note 2: The WilliePete bomb effect is with Bunyap and should be included once he releases the next weapon pack.

The Sea Hawk FB.5 is now available. These are FB.3s re-engined with the Nene 103. The new engine gave slightly more thrust but performance remained poor.

This is the first of the ground attack versions. It can carry combinations of drop tanks, bombs, and rockets on the wing pylons although light loads were prefered due to poor performance.
  17. You are running SF P1 Sp3? You have added the 2 carriers so that you have a separate folder for each of Albion & Bulwark as well as separate data.inis for them in your Objects folder? You are using my GROUNDOBJECTSDATA.ini in the Objects folder & my carriertest.msn in the missions folder? If yes to all above I would suggest that you look at your folder structure for Albion. Possibly you have a folder within a folder. It works for the rest of us so it should work for you.
  18. raffut, I believe that there is a typo in the readme & it says edit the groundobjects.ini whereas what you really need to edit is the GROUNDOBJECTSDATA.ini If you haven't already added items to this before then just use the 1 that I attached.
  19. I appreciate that which is why I didn't address SF but confined my reply to WoV

  21. I know that you have posted this "elsewhere" galanti & we know that it will be looked at. Until it is investigated we won't know if it is a bug for sure but as far as WoV what is known is that the Vietnamese really didn't have that many Migs & were pretty often unwilling to commit those that they did have. Towards the end of the war it was extremely rare for a Mig to be seen.
  22. 2 possibilities that I can see (I haven't tested). 1) Yours is labelled carriertest.msn.txt whereas mine is carriertest.msn 2) Yours has a blank first line
  23. Nope. Perhaps if you attach it I can compare it.

    Israel V1.4

srael terrain version 1.4 readme: After unsuccessfull attempts to make Israel terrain in an 1:1 scale i decided to improve the smaller version a little bit. I included now 110 target areas (29 more than in v1.3) For instance: I added 3 new egyptian airbases: Kairo West Wadi al Jandali and following a multiple wish of one single user: Beni Suef 2 new jordanian airfields: H-5 Prinz Hassan Al Jafr 1 new syrian airfield: Al Suweidaja The direction of airfield i changed in Ovda, Ben Gurion, Ramat David and El Arish, to meet the conditions of the terrain texture or terrain structure better. E.G. No starting against the mountains more in Ovda, instead starting in direction of the valley. El Arish got an different airfield. Al Mansura is moved some 100 meters to avoid trees on the runway. I included a bunker line along the suez canal (Bar Lev line) and a israeli Radar warning line in the middle of Sinai. Near Inshas, Tanta and Port Said barracks complexes i installed. Fuel or Oil Storage facilities are now in Suez and Port Said. 3 bridges over the river Nil are new. Some with the bridges corresponting Cities are now on the map. The SAM fence along the Suez canal is now growing up in 1970 instead 1967 and will get his maximum efficency in 1973. The Bar Lev bunkiers will come in 1968 and the israeli airfileds in Sinai (El Arish, Bir Gifgafa, Bir Tamahada and Sharm es Sheik) are active from 1968. The egyptian ponton bridges come in 1973. etc
  25. Hi, I don't think so - there wasn't steam until the patch. However, TK isn't finished & tbh I suspect that adding 1 wouldn't be too hard if we had a .wav
