  1. I've tried bmp and jpg, but not noticed any difference in displaying or not.
  2. I've installed the modded screens as instructed in the readme files, usually in the Menu folder which is in my Mods folder. So I have these files in the Menu folder: Hangarscreen.ini, Mainscreen.ini, Mainscreen.jpg,Planningmapscreen.ini and Planningmapscreen.jpg etc.
  3. I second that!
  4. Hi Is there a way to force FE2 to read modded screen files? On my setup it doesn't always work. A few examples: 1. The modded main screen displays always ok when I start FE2, but when I go back to the main screen after a mission the default main screen displays. 2. The Planningmap screen and the Hangar screen behaves the opposite way. They show the default screen initially and they don't even read the modded ini-files the first time, but after a completed mission and starting a new mission the modded screens displays ok. If I pack the modded files in the MenuData.cat they ought to work or is there any other way? Cheers vonOben
  5. I found the problem! Hangarscreen.ini controls also the hangar in campaigns, but the modded version is not read before a mission, but after a completed mission and starting a new it's usually read.
  6. Hi 33LIMA Thanks for the info! Have you seen this post: "HA! End of Rof Frustration! Finally"? http://riseofflight.com/forum/topic/48930-ha-end-rof-frustration-finally/ According to that topic is the Criquets AiMod old and not for the current RoF version, and removing the AI mod actually improves the AI behaviour. S! vonOben
  7. Hi 33LIMA It's always a pleasure to read your mission reports and reviews! Thank you very much for doing them! Which mods are you using in ROF? Best regards vonOben
  8. I suspected that was what you meant. I've also reduced the Experience but only to 50-60 and that has made no significant difference. I'll try to reduce it your way. Thanks for the tip, much appreciated!
  9. Hi Nicholas Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm unsure what you mean by this: "I've cut the training level by more than half for the Allies (10s and 20s)." Best regards vonOben
  10. Hi I've been flying "dead is dead" Armchair Aces campaigns now for about 6 months, staring in August 1915 and flying for Germany. Now it's March 1917 and it's tough staying alive, the Entente have good planes now and the Nieuports and Spads are tough opponents for me and my flight in Albatros DIIIs. My flight members have harder surviving now compared with earlier in the war, and there are not many pilots alive in the end of the month. I usually select 3 AI pilots for my flights, and I try to protect them the best I can but it's hard when we are heavily outnumbered and often are a few of them killed early in the engagement. So how do you increase the possibilities to survive longer for you and your flight and the enjoyment of the Armchair Aces campaigns? S! vonOben
  11. Hi Wrench I have edited Campaignscreen.ini, Campaignendscreen.ini and Hangarscreen.ini changing the values for all occurances of: TextPosition= and Position= But this has not moved any text on the campaign hangar screen. I've also tried to figure out which ini file that controls the campaign hangar screen, but without any luck so far. Best regards vonOben
  12. Hi I've tested both SweetFX and the ENB Series in FE, but haven't found any really good settings yet, so if anyone is using any of those and would like to share their settings that would be highly appreciated. Best regards vonOben
  13. Hi VonS I've built my latest effects similary, but I've also added the effects posted by quack74 in the "More Flamers, Please!" thread on top. I've also removed unused tga files and if the original file belongs to the FlightData.cat I've moved the new file to the Flight folder, so there are no duplicates any more. Currently I'm using Laton's Particlesystem file. Best regards vonOben
  14. Hi I've done some more testing: Editing the TextPosition in Hangarscreen.ini changes the Single mission Hangar screen, but not the Campaign Hangar screen. So which ini file controls the Campaign Hangar screen? Best regards vonOben
  15. Hi VonS Thanks for the screenshots! I see that you also have a few files in both Effects folder and Flight folder. As far as I understand: If Effect files with the same file name belong to the FlightData.cat, they should be placed in the Flight Folder only. Files with new file names that are not in any cat-file should be placed in the Effects folder only. Does that seem to be correctly understood? Best regards vonOben
  16. Hi VonS I wasn't fully aware how the FE2 effects worked, but I have studied it now and understand it better. For example: [EmitterType050] is missing from Stary's Particlesystem.ini: Name=AircraftSmokeEmitter But the "AircraftSmokeEmitter" is to be found in Stary's AircraftSmokeEffect.ini, so it's important not to remove any of his new ini-files. If you do it can give strange effects or missing effects. That was what I experienced earlier because I was not aware of how the ini-files all work together. Best regards vonOben
  17. I found MediumListField is in default Menusettings.ini and also Menuback1.tga that controls the colour in the drop down background. The new look: Now I have some problem with the text on the Hangar screen: When I try to move the TextPosition in Hangarscreen.ini nothing happens.... strange and I can't figure it out. Any ideas please?
  18. Looks like an excellent improvement of the Vogesen! I'm really looking forward to the release! S!
  19. Hi von S I've been comparing Stary's Particlesystem.ini with the default FE2 Particlesystem.ini. Starys file is only 477kB and the default is 1001kB, so quite a lot is missing in Starys version. But Starys file was made for FE, so it might not be a good idea using Stary's version in FE2? Some [EmitterType] is missing in Stary's file: 049, 051, 054, 057, 287-296 Some [EffectType] is missing in Stary's file: 096-103 [FireMaterial] EffectShaderName= is missing in Starys file. RenderToBrightness= is missing in Starys file. [FlareMaterial] is missing in Starys file. [burningDebrisMaterial] is missing in Starys file. Best regards vonOben
  20. Hi Nicholas It was actually Stary's effects that made me wonder about the correct folder for some of the effects files. He has the same file in both Effects folder and Flight folder in a few occasions: Animatedfire.tga Dirthitspike.tga Dirthitspike2.tga Fire1.tga Smoke2.tga Smoke.tga Sparkhit.tga So which is the correct folder placement? And if there is a file with the same name both in the Effects folder and in the Flight folder, which one will be used? Best regards vonOben
  21. Hi Another question regarding the screens. In CAMPAIGNSCREEN.INI: ListFieldSetting=MediumListField is the default setting and give a black drop down background as in the image below. ListFieldSetting=MediumListField2 is Guitarclassic55 setting and give black text without drop down. Which file control the colour in the drop down background? I can't find any files called List and/or Field in the cat files... Best regards vonOben
  22. Hi Stephen Thanks for your help, much appreciated! I wanted to change the text colour below "Create Campaign" and below "Load campaign" in the campaign screen. In the MENUSETTING.INI there are some texts with: ForegroundColor=208,207,144 I changed that to slightly darker text: ForegroundColor=150,140,110 And that changed the colour of all text on the campaign screen, the Main screen text colour was unaffected. I'll experiment further! Best Regards vonOben
  23. Hi Mue I didn't mean .fx files specifically, but all files that are in my modded Effects folder. Since there are no Effects folder in any of the cat files that I have found, how do I know which modded files belong to the Effects folder? For instance some effects mods have Animatedsmoke.tga in the Effects folder and some in the Flight folder, so which is the correct placement? And if there is a file with the same name both in the Effects folder and in the Flight folder, which one will be used? I've been using CatPack by Gerwin, but I also have your Toolbox downloaded. So I'll test your CATExtractor instead! Thanks for the tip and for making the Toolbox! Best regards vonOben
  24. Hi all Without the mods I wouldn't even have bought FE2, so i'm very grateful to all modders, past or present! The modders do their work on their free time and give it away for free to the community, so what is there to complain about? Everyone is doing as good as they can and as others have said: If you don't like a mod - don't use it! I've been doing mods for other games, but nothing for FE2 yet. My experience is that if you share a common interest most people are helpful and appreciative and give feedback in a friendly way. But there are always exceptions of course, nothing much to do about it but to ignore them as Stratos wrote. Best regards vonOben
  25. Hi I've tested the Guitarclassic55_Menu_Screens, but the text is yellow on yellow background so it's quite hard to read the text. Does anyone know how to change the text colour in the campaign related screens? Best regards vonOben
