First buy the original SF2, it contains many files that are need for some terrain. If you can, get SF2: Vietnam, and Europe and Israel. Also get the mission editor from the 3rd Wire site as well. Yeah it will cost you some bucks but to be able to fully get the most out of the SF2 series, getting the main sim for this series is a must. Because some people like the extreme detail. I love the high poly planes. Looks at ravenclaws F-4's, Vipers and weapons packs, the details are amazing. The details are what gives the person the immersion they are looking for. I do not fly the SH very much. I fly Vipers and Phantoms mostly. So I enjoy the high poly models for the little details. The SH on the carrier seems to be right though as far as why FPS is down. When I put them on land my FPS is triple that. Have you looked at FPS on land?

Well I was thinking maybe the Iceland terrain might of been messing with it. So I took the following screen shots; Default Iceland Terrain Iceland Full Size Terrain Desert Terrain So as you can see the FPS is still kind of low. My specs as follows: Digital Storm Vanquish II Level 4 3.2GHz Intel Core i5-4570 (4 cores, 6MB cache, w/3.6GHz with Turbo Boost) 120GB Samsung 840 EVO SSD 1TB Seagate HDD (7,200 rpm, 64MB cache) 1TB Western Digital Black HDD (7,200 rpm, 64MB cache) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 7700 2048MB 16 GB 1600MHZ DDR3 RAM So my specs are no slouch, so it leaves me with the conclusion is that this plane's high poly count is giving the performance issues.

Dad was telling me stores about stuff like that a few years. The stuff is scary.

You were wrong and I called you out on it. Instead of leaving the poor man alone, you had to point out his issues which he did not think they were to begin with. He was just modding. There was no reason to point out that there was already a Midway terrain etc etc etc. You antagonized him and he bit back. If you had said nothing to him we would not even be having this conversation. The 3rd wire community has shrunk and when someone comes to this forum, does his own thing and then gets jumped on, this discourages them and shrinks the community even more. ALL of this could of been avoided if people had just left him alone. He did not do a damn thing to anyone. Just modding. So if you want to leave, then do that. I'm not going to beg you to stay. HOWEVER once again the community shrinks.

Well I got the rearming done, and all the SH are A2A configured. I am going to send in the GR.3 with escort, then also send the SAS with SH escort.
-
Well I made a managed to get jumped by the AAF and they have lost 40 aircraft. I have lost 6 Sea Harriers though. They AAF came at me with a huge strike package. I lost 4 SH in A2A combat and another 2 were shot down overland while pursuing Skyhawks. I have to retask my GR.3's from LGB's to dummies because my SAS cannot get to the island without the helos being attacked by everything. So without them on the ground I cannot get any buddy lasing done. That turnaround will take 2 hours. One of my ships the Fort Grange took a massive hit by bombs from an A-4 and had major flooding. Its finally under control but slowed the TF down to 13 kts. It is finally back up to full power and we are moving at 20 kts. I retasked my remaining SH for A2A only. That cuts my strike package down from to only GR.3's (I have 10) but hopefully with quick turnaround I can back to back hit the airfields hard so I can send the SAS in. So far no surface contacts but I am expecting another air attack by the AAF any moment. I only have 2 SH airborne because of the last huge raid I put all assets airborne. Now they are on the deck getting re armed and re fueled.

Midway Terrain v 1.0 by Gepard
Dave replied to Stwa's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
I do not know. Well if everyone had just let him be, and not care that there is already a Midway terrain etc, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. STWA is upset because A. someone moved his topic. B. kept bringing up that this terrain existed. when all he is doing is modding. So I can understand his situation. So anyway, this topic is done. -

If you do the tutorials, then you will see how its played and then you can handle it. It is not easy but the its not very hard either. I had my footing after 2 hours. Its the spiritual successor of Harpoon. And its fun to play.

Midway Terrain v 1.0 by Gepard
Dave replied to Stwa's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
Gepard once again if he wants to name it Midway, then so be it. I understand what you are trying to say but it wasn't necessary. Just let him do his thing. -
Midway Terrain v 1.0 by Gepard
Dave replied to Stwa's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
Gepard Who cares if the terrain is a remake. STWA can remake every terrain in out download section if he wants. Its not for ANYONE to say anything. Attitudes like yours stifle creativity. If he wants to have biplane on Iwo Jima, SO WHAT. It is not for anyone to say. Why? Because it defeats the purpose of this open source sim. While TK has moved on, I would think, that anyone doing anything for the sim would be a good thing. So please leave it be. -
