A little Final Countdown action as we escort A-6s to the North with our new Hornets North Vietnam...crazy times, crazy days. Dropping some Snakes on the bridge...as one does An unfriendly SU-7 wrecking my buddies, this will not stand! -
Hi, I know this is an old mod, but I am having difficulty getting the afterburners to work. In the C-24_Data under Engines--> Engine 1 I struck out AfterburnerNodeName=LeftAB AfterburnerEmitterName=F18AfterburnerEmitter and replaced with copied (from a working Hornet) AfterburnerNodeName=afterburner AfterburnerEmitterName=HornetEffects The right burner was lit up, so I did the same to Engine 2, but, no burners at all. It turns out that I can only get one or the other. Any ideas?

Windows 10 massive new update
TeargasHorse replied to alexis99's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I've got Win 10 Pro v2004, runs well for me. -
I was like, meh, on F18s, just cuz I love the Tomcat, Falcon, and Eagle so much. Then I saw this skin, so I downloaded the hornet pack Much to please be fly the cool plane! I like it very much. There are only 3 colors I really love on aircraft, blue, green, and grey, so this works out .... The models are fantastic, the cockpits and the ease of flight...everything worked as advertised...I didn't have to mod folders or anything. I dig it!

How to install mods in windows 10?
TeargasHorse replied to jotaluc's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
I see inconsistent mod names for folders. Is this because of international users? For instants, I download a file and get a folder called "Sound" but my mod folder is "Sounds" so now I have 2 folders. Is this a cause of international language? For the US, what are the basic folder names? Terrains Effects Campaigns Controls Effects Flight Menu Missions Objects Aircraft Decals Ground Objects GroundObject ? Guns Pilots Weapons PilotData Pilots ScreenShots Sounds Speech Terrains Weapons -
Happy Thanksgiving to you too, Wrench. And a happy holiday for the entire CA world. 2020 surely was not what anyone thought would happen; as I and 2 of my in family members were positive and struggled through it, nevertheless my family lost 4 through the course of the last 8 months, to coronavirus, all went before they should have. I hope you all have been wearing masks in public to protect your family and those you don't know, we don't need to lose anyone else through stubbornness or nonbelief that this is a real situation that can be culled by a simple act. See you out there! TGH

Questions about SF2 Vietnam
TeargasHorse replied to bearnoceros's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I don't know OpenTrack, but I do use TrackIR5 with little or no issues (have to calibrate the center before launching the game, and sometimes the game doesn't load the Tracker). There are loads of mods for environmental, terrains etc, that will enhance the realism from vanilla. This series is referred to as a "lite sim" meaning that the learning curve in hard mode is not as exotic as IL2 or DCS. It's meant to be fun, and it is. IMO the most difficult aspect to learn is dropping dumb bombs without a CCIP, but there are tutorials in the download section. Good luck, have fun! -
Re-installed and controls are squiffy?
TeargasHorse replied to Chugster's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
If you open the .txt file you can edit the button directly. It is possible that the program is reading another button at the same time, so instead of Joystick01_button09, it is seeing Joystick01_button09+button23....just a fake example. If you check the .config you can see what it's seeing. Defaults are: ECM_TOGGLE=Z TOGGLE_RADAR=CTRL+PGUP My set is: ECM_TOGGLE=JOYSTICK01_BUTTON09 TOGGLE_RADAR=R -

TeargasHorse replied to Chugster's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
There is a "Controls" folder in your Mod folder (if you have one). Unfortunately, if you did not save the .txt file you will have to remap your controls in the Options menu. Once everything is remapped, copy the file to your install folder so if you ever have to reinstall again, your settings can be copied back to your Options folder. It's also kinda nice to have if you do a stand-alone mod, just copy that file and you will not have to remap everything again. -
SF:2 AI fighting style ? / low speed
TeargasHorse replied to Flapsfull's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I have noticed that the AI in my North Atlantic installs fly in the 300 kt range. The strange thing is that they will often run away in a shallow climb in a straight line at up to .94 Mach at 3 miles, and I can't catch them going 1.2 for up to 9 miles! I think the patches in the EXP packs will help you with your stall speed AI. I can barely remember playing Vietnam and Europe without the updates. There may be a way to mod the AI .ini to load higher speeds, but I'm not the horse to tell you how exactly. Check on the mod forums maybe? -

Strike Fighters 2 Complete Edition until July 19th 2020
TeargasHorse replied to MigBuster's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters Series News
My install is HUGE at 133GB. It takes about 6 minutes to load. And my version of SF is 32 bit according to task manager. It breaks sometimes, I can get 5-6 missions in before it crashes. AMD Zambezi 8-core, 16 GB Ram, 8 GB video card. -

Yes, i meant to ask if the Win10 edition was 64 bit as there are 32 bit Win 10s as well. I get dramatic FPS drops (70fps to 20fps) when an ARC Light strike is happening, and with 64 it shouldn't do dat. -

So Win10 won't be 64 bit, or yeah? -

TeargasHorse replied to MigBuster's topic in General Flight Sim News
MicroProse was the edge of flight sims, I had as many as I could get in the 80s and 90s (F-15, Gunship and GS2000 etc..)! I truly hope they are back with these sexy beasts! Can't wait to start seeing screen candies!- 4 replies

It was awesome. Tried put the F14, MiG 19, Fw190, and bought the Nellis AFB map (home town, WOOT!). Where is the flyable F-4, the world wonders?
