To answer one of your questions: Hyperlobby is no point because this game does not have working multiplay - it is still broken.

Honestly, what is the POINT trying HL when MP is totally broken, STILL!!! This game is so frustrating because it's so good but so broken. MP on PC is a critical part of any game in the 21st century - any flight sim/especially combat flight sim that does not get this right might as well go into the bin.

I know it does exist, and believe me i've tried. Will this issue ever be taken care of? I am dying to fly this sim online, especially coop without the system crashes or CTD's (man i'm tired of even typing CTD :) . I have not seen any response regarding this from the developers after the patch. If they have mentioned it, please post some linkage. If not, please tell us if any more work will be done to SF by the developers. LOMAC will have some bugs just like any other game/sim, but i'm SURE it will have working MP. That is the least any modern day developer can do for a combat simulator.

pons, I thought the big X in Sparrow meant that you were to close to target. Am I mistaken?

Disk is defragged regularly. CTD's are a very real part of this sim and I do not think a perfect, clean XP Pro install will reduce the amount of CTD's anyway. I coul go and buy a brand new machine today and strike fighters would still CTD it.

what is F11 for?

I somehow managed to fly about 2 hours last night and this morning offline without any crashes or CTD's. It seems to be better now although I have not done anything to the machine or changed anything at all. The new effects are absolutely awesome! Especially smoke from destroyed ground targets. Very well done, in fact, done better than any other sim I have tried so-far.

I'll add my support here. Give ASE the link to this thread and let all post their support here. I am personally not going to register another account on another BB for one vote. Good idea though Jersey. I do think Jiri might have a look into the SF issue and release a SF patch supported version of HL.

I have had many, many CTD's and more often system reboots since I bought this sim - flying online and offline (Paid £40 GBP for it, you work out just how much that is in USD). I have patched it correctly and the CTD's and system reboots are still here - although the game does indeed run much smoother and looks better - I can't tell if the CTD's and boots are fewer or more but I can tell they are still present. Now don't come and tell me I must be the only one experiencing these issues because I am not. There is also nothing wrong with my system as I have about 20 other game/sim titles including Janes F/A-18, Il-2, USAF - all these titles vary in quality an system demands. Some run OpenGL, or D3D or both. NONE of them crash my system or constantly and consistently CTD, especially the amazing IL-2 which has never complained or crashed...even when i run card drivers that messes up my other games - IL-2 just blasts on. Sorry for this rant, i guess everyone is tired of complaints - I just had to get this off my chest.

I have no doubt that there will be a solution in the end. This sim is too good to let go and it would be a real shame if it was left where it is now.

I STILL think that padlock is really the best. It acts in the same way as a pilot's head and eyes does.....follows target intuitively. You dont have to use your thumb on a hat or ball. PL leaves the pilot to concentrate on the importan stuff like flying the plane, angles, weapons etc... I KNOW i'm going to get that full real rhetoric but a sim is not FULL real anyway. It simulated flight, so does PL, it simulates target aquisition.. Best thing abotu PL? It's free with every sim and still works the best! Out :!:

Ranger, have you not read my post at all? I said I have literally reinstalled more than 10 times...same problem. I have also re-downloaded the patch just to make sure that my DL was not corrupted. I have a feeling it can be driver or soundcard related but I do not ever have any of these problems with any other games.....SF is in fact the only software I have that can reboot my system so effectively.

I disagree that it is only a lobby error. I am experiencing CTDs and more frequently total system crashes in SINGLE PLAYER and MP. (Now this is the patched version - had the same with box). I have clean installed this game 10-15 times, run registry cleaners, etc. It runs BEAUTIFULLY for 10 minutes then without any reason my monitor just sais: 'signal lost' and the system reboots. This is totally unacceptable for a retail game. I cannot give up on SF yet because it is simply too much fun. I do however ting that this game needs to be fixed properly, and fixed in teh MP area, otherwise it will be off my drive in a few weeks..

After many, many reinstalls and tries I got SF to run with the patch. The improvement is brilliant. I really can't believe how good this game really is, and how much potential it has. The new effects are just what I was looking for (maybe i'll lose the missile halo's). The only thing that still needs a little tweaking is the CTD's in MP. I flew a great DF this morning in HL but crashed out as soon as I typed after killing an enemy with a sparrow.... Great stuff and thx for the work TK. Please fix MP ASAP as that is really the most important thing for me.
