F-86H (HOG)

Wow... As politically stupid as that sounds... That makes perfect sense! And I have to admit... I never would have thought of that! -

I just double-checked... it IS KDFNAGB BGOBASOBSDVDJVIK. Apparently I forgot to put a space in there. -

What I find really cool about this NA scenario is the fact that it has already conjured up so many potential scenarios and possibilities... I've always been a fan of "what-if" scenarios, particularly in flight sims. While I appreciate historical values and have honor the tomb of historical engagements... Problem is we know the outcomes (You know... being historical and all) these too become stale and predictable. At least with this what-if NA scenario there is no artificial limitations tactically aside from logistic constraints. -

Hey guys... Working one of my new projects and I've hit a new bump in my journey (just to show how long it's been since I've modeled anything real-world)... what would one recommend for a SEA camo for specular in the mesh? Also... for that matter, recommendations for canopy glass and chrome bits? Thanks in advance! -

Please don't inflate DanW's ego. This was done a few years back and we are still suffering the effects of global warming as a result of the gravitational shift... (Zur ducks and covers) Rumor has it, he learned how to do panel lines from Chuck Norris. -

Don't be shy... you all started singing the song! (Either the Gene Autry version or the Aerosmith one... dependent upon you age) My annual stint as a youth football coach has come to and end and as such, I'm fast becoming bored senseless with no other hobbies to occupy my idle mind and hands. To this communities benefit, this means I once again reacquaint myself with my PC, 3D Studio and the various projects which have thus far languished while I played Lombardi. Tonight the F-86H welcomed me back with open arms... Well it said "hi" and "where the f#ck have you been?" Anyway... I'm pretty happy with the direction this project is headed and will post screenies once I believe it far enough along that will elicit the most oohs and aahs. Thanks for being patient... -

I have a FJ-3 that I re-mastered from the original F-86F floating around... (It's sweet FWIW) I'll dig through my archives and post that. As for the -4M, I don't know why but it never appealed to me. (Strange I know... considering my love of the Sabre) For me, I have to have a fervent interest in a particular project to really feel motivated to put the time and effort into it. Tell ya what though... This HOG is a labor of love for me right now but when I finish THIS we'll see where my ambition level is and will consider the -4m -

if the above screenshot is truly unedited... I'd say it's flipping brilliant! -
I have a sinking suspicion Dave's pussycats and my cheese-head are headed for a whopper of an "undefeated" head-to-head on Turkey day! I'm salivating already... No not for the football game. For the 22 lbs of succulent gobbler meat and all the fix'ns which will sustain me for the duration of that day!

MQ-10A Kodiak – Release Version 4.0 Welcome to the Kodiak release version 4.0. This plane was conceived out of my need to find something to effectively kick-start my creative juices and prime me mentally to tackle a few of my languishing projects. The MQ-10A is obviously a fictitious UAV on steroids. I best described it once as the unholy union of an A-10 and a Predator drone. It’s capable of carrying pretty much everything and oh, did I mention it VTOLS? Yeah, I wet myself a little too... Please fly it, enjoy it for what it is and go blow some crap up… NOTES: 1. Engine nacelles are rotated via what ever you have mapped for VTOL. Max VTOL weight is around 47,000 2. Do not be bashful in criticism or critique. 3. Installation is easy… decompress and cut/paste it in your aircraft folder. It has been tested on all version 2 games but should work in version 1 as well. CHANGE LOG / FIXES: 1. The weird porpoises issue has been fixed. The Kodiak is again a rock-sold weapon platform. 2. Right, wrong, or indifferent, I’ve settled on a very basic if not extremely functional projected cockpit format. ACKNOWLEDGMENTS: 1. I pilfered the HUD stuff from Fastcargo’s F-35 bird. 2. I pilfered FM tidbits from a lot of different birds. ** Once I finalize on what will be enclosed in the final product I will include full and complete disclosure. 3. It includes a default Olive Drab scheme and all layered paintshop pro templates to assist in the creation of more. -
FJ-3M Fury by Zur and Co., for SF2
Zurawski replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
When I modded the Fury, I based it off of the "F" and worked hard to maintain texture mapping comparability... With the exception of new "bits" it would work with these skins perfectly. -
FJ-3M Fury by Zur and Co., for SF2
Zurawski replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
** Cough..cough ** I actually made a genuine FJ-3M Fury (external model) and gave it to one of our intrepid community members to texture edit and release... If I remember correctly, I think its crying on someones hard-drive right now, dusty and forgotten. Maybe upon seeing this they might release it... LOL! BTW.. I do still hsve it. -
Status on the F-86H...
Zurawski posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
I've received a few inquires into the status of this project... 1.) Yes I'm still alive. 2.) Yes, the H is in production. 3.) While It is to a point where I could post some progress-pics, I'm choosing keep it under wraps for the moment. (It will be worth the wait I promise!) 4.) It will be done in "2-weeks". Actually, while progress was moving along nicely of the coarse over the last few months... With August right around the corner, this project will effectively slow to glacial pace until November. Ya see, I am a head coach of a youth football team and as such I'm a little busy over the next few months making little boys beat the hell out of each other. 5.) What's taking so long? In my usual fashion I choose to go where others have not (yet) and I am experimenting with a few new/different modeling things with this project. Some didn't work as expected and required re-starting, while others though tedious, are proving to be quite rewarding. Long-and-Short... Be patient young HOG Jockeys! -

MV-22B Osprey Release v2.2 “The V-22 Osprey is a joint service, multi-mission, military tilt rotor aircraft with both a vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) and short takeoff and landing (STOL) capability. It is designed to perform missions like a conventional helicopter with the long-range, high-speed cruise performance of a turboprop aircraft. The V-22 was developed by Bell Helicopter Textron, which manufactures it in partnership with Boeing Helicopters. The initial operators are the U.S. Marine Corps and United States Air Force. The FAA classifies the Osprey as a model of powered lift aircraft.”… Wikipedia. Installation 1.) Unzip the archive. 2.) Cut/Paste the MV-22 folder within the aircraft directory of your Strike Fighters, Wings over Vietnam or Wings over Europe, Wings over Israel Installation. 3.) Cut/Paste the sound file within the sound folder into the Sounds directory your Strike Fighters, Wings over Vietnam, Wings over Israel or Wings over Europe Installation. 4.) Fly and have fun! Flight Instructions STOL – (Short Take Off and Landing) - Rotate the outboard engine nacelles (done by activating the keys you have mapped to controls thrust vectoring) above 45-degrees (I find around 60 works best). Release brakes, slowly feed in throttle. As you exceed 80 knots, apply full up elevator and apply full throttle. As you climb, raise gear and slowly rotate the engine nacelles to zero to achieve horizontal flight configuration. Approach landing in this configuration as you would a conventional aircraft. VTOL – (Vertical Take Off and Landing) - Rotate the outboard engine nacelles to their full 90-Degree position. Slowly apply throttle to exceed 75 percent (this will change with any cargo load or fuel use… adjust as necessary). While in hover mode, direction and attitude is controlled by pitch and roll. Rudder input controls rotation about the axis and throttle obviously effects climb or decent. Landing is a bit more difficult… You’ll need to rotate the engine nacelles to 90-degrees, reduce throttle and bank a bit to scrub off speed. Once below 240 knots, drop gear to increase drag, further reducing airspeed. As you slow to below 100 knots you will develop some buffeting… this is normal as the wings are obviously losing their lift. I find a good controlled decent can be achieved around 60 percent throttle. Goose the throttle a bit before touch-down to soften the landing. Operational Notes 1.) It is recommended to fly the Osprey in hard-mode only to experience the flight model in it’s highest fidelity. The Ospreys FM is a bit too complex in the vertical flight profile to fly properly in anything other than hard. 2.) Though the Osprey works in all iterations of Thirdwire flight-sims, it performed the best in Wings over Israel. Once the other iterations are patched to WoI standards, this will obviously change. 3.) The real-world Osprey is fly-by-wire… the onboard computer does a lot of the workload that you will need to do to fly the Osprey smoothly and efficiently. Rule of thumb: Use small control inputs while in hover and don’t over correct when it gets squirrelly. If you ham-fist the Osprey it will throw you all over the place. 4.) The cargo doors are opened by whatever key you have mapped to open bomb-bay 5.) The AR Probe (air-refueling) is extended with whatever key you have mapped to extend the arrestor hook. 6.) The engine nacelles are rotated with whatever key you have mapped to control thrust-vectoring. That’s it… fly have fun and don’t be afraid to critique. An over-cofindent stud approaches a knock-out blonde and says.. "I would like to tell you a story about my (Short for Richard) but it's too long..." The blonde smiles, tosses her hair over her shoulder and responds.. "That's okay... I would have told you a story about my (insert feline metaphore for a woman reproductive region)... but you would'nt get it." Yeah, I know.. I know... But the more you think about it, the funnier it is.

Thanks everyone... It been mark 5 days past my b-day... Yet I suprisingly don't feel any wiser.

now if I could just horse down my Geritol pills followed by my Viagra regiment... I might be excited enough to keep woking on the H Sabre... LOL! Thanks everyone!

Yup... Just to clarify and make it publicly known... (So I don't have to keep explaining it to each individual who have email and inquired) Having cut my teeth and re-invogorated my creative juices, I will embark upon my most ambitious project to date. I have started moving forward with the "H" project. My desire is to take the "H" into a structural detail equivelent to some of the finest SFX models seen elsewhere. Why? Because with Thirdwire sims... "I can". (And they can actually shoot and blow crap up to boot!) Anyway... just wanted to throw that out there to answer the burning question. I'll keep ya'll posted.

F-86H Sabre...
Zurawski replied to Zurawski's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Thanks for the encouragement everyone! It's been a long time coming... I know there's some question as to why do the "H", which is for all practical and historical reasons the most maligned iteration of the Sabre, instead of re-doing the A or F series. In a nutshell there are several reasons but publicly I want to walk down a road less traveled. The fun thing about modeling for Thirdwire sims is it allows one to give planes like the H a history and or legacy they never had the opportunity to achieve. The H was in my opinion the last of the true gun slingers / dog fighters. Its undoing was a troubled inception, time-frame in which is entered service and the advent of stand-off weaponry. It’s a beautiful bird with clean and powerful lines (as is the stable of it’s heritage) and I look forward to giving the ol’ girl a second chance. -

Just an FYI for those that enjoy this bird. I've updated the download, with a fully functional / finalized cockpit and I've rid the beast of the FM glitch that made it porpoise wildly at speed... Fly have fun and we'll see you at the next revision! http://combatace.com/files/file/11798-mq-10a-kodiak/ -
MQ-10A Kodiak: Updated

Thanks Storm! I was initially worried about the tint of the HUD on night sorties but was pleasantly surprised when it actually worked the opposite and provided a sort-of night-flying polarized lense effect making things (like explosions) actually clearer etc. -
