  1. YMAC = Mean Area Chord on the "Y" axis. If the lifting surface statements are reversed (as opposed to merely being duplicated) it would have no discernible effect on the model, until it receives damage to that surface while in flight.
  2. Make sure that all the component mass fraction statements add up to a total of 1.0
  3. This was posted for the benefit of Wrench, and all others out there who are scared of heights (myself included)

That may very well be the case, but you must agree that it's an amazingly well-made video. The rush of air heard during the free fall was correct. The view when he climbed onto the step and held onto the wing strut was eerily familiar to me, as I've gone skydiving before (just once!). Your first jump in those days (1886), was a static line pull from 5K feet. Back then, the parachutes were mostly still full canopies (as opposed to airfoils), and of course tandem skydiving was unheard of and would have been considered quite wimpy, The PLFs that they made you practice before your first drop were quite fun, too.

I'd say so. Terminal velocity in a belly down, arm extended configuration is agreed by most to be 122 MPH. In a head or feet first free fall from 10,000 feet, "speed divers" have achieved velocities as high as 336 mph.
  6. That's been the case ever since carrier operations were introduced with the release of WoV, back in 2004. The only issue that I've began to notice more often with the release of NA, was how the AI handles carrier approaches. Several older flight models have required updates to allow them to land without "missing" the arresting gear, due to AoA issues that begin manifesting themselves when they reach the final approach waypoint.
  7. So let me understand this...you don't like the fact that carrier aircraft are engaging afterburners and going to full flaps prior to a cat launch? That flap behavior is there by design on all naval aircraft in the series, and is controlled by an AI parameter in the aircraft's data.ini, under "flapsettings". There are separate flap settings for takeoff, landing, and catapult launches. And BTW, full flaps and AB are SOP during cat shots in real life.
  8. File Name: Nvidia 353.30 Windows Vista,7,8 64-bit Video Drivers File Submitter: Fubar512 File Submitted: 28 November 2015 File Category: Utilities / Editors These are drivers that are presently working well with Nvidia video adapter up to and including the GTX 750 ti. They are for meant for MS Windows Vitsa, 7, and 8, 64-bit versions only. These should cure any visual anomalies in the Strike Fighters 2 series that have been introduced by later Nvidia driver versions. I highly recommend using this display driver sweeper utility before you install the 353.30 drivers (available from here: http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html)' Click here to download this file

  10. Baffmeister, what OS are you running? Is it Windows 7 or 8? (Hopefully not 10) Sorry, just saw that you're running 7-64 . When you say that you're running an I-3 processor, can you get the model number? I know that they were designed to work with DDR-3 memory, but one never knows when dealing with OEMs such as Dell....
  11. I have everything maxed out in the SF2 graphics options, with the exception of horizon distance, which I've set at "far". I am also running Stary's recommended settings in the options.ini. In the Nvidia control panel, I have all the aniso settings at or close to their max settings, but not running tri-linear filtering, as it is really not something that works in concert with anisotropic filtering. I am using a value of "1" for pre-rendered frames, as per Brian Easy's recommendations. My system is rather modest, a G3258 OC'd to 4 gHz (a speed that's obtainable at stock voltage) and I'm running the XMP settings on my 1600 mHz memory.
  12. "Wrong Way" Chase

I'm glad the NJ State Police and the Palisades Interstate Police caught this reckless loser. He was being investigated for the murder of his former girlfriend. http://video-embed.nj.com/services/player/bcpid1950981419001?bctid=4632451413001&bckey=AQ~~,AAAAPLMILBk~,Vn8u6tPOf8Us2eD8W1ez5Zw-Ss_6Anfe
  13. Happy Thanksgiving

To all my friends here at Combatace, a Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families.
  14. I'm running the 353.30 drivers and have absolutely zero issues. My GTX750 ti is also a vast improvement over my prior GTS250, both in terms of frame rate and temperature. Whereas I was running as low as 16-19 fps over the stock Iceland terrain with the 250 (while flying over Iceland itself), I am now rarely dipping below 30-35 fps at the exact same resolution, and more often than not averaging the maximum frame rate (of 60 FPS) with V-sync switched on, at 1680 x 1050.
  15. Interesting. Reminds me of this little model by Russ.
  16. Either the sound file that you're using doesn't meet the game's requirements (it must be monaural), or the naming convention.that you're using is wrong. It should be "windsoundname="
  17. Only events that are listed in the associated .dll file will work (and even then, some events have been nothing more than placeholders since the inception of the series. Bomb release and the missile in flight sounds are two of the latter) . One cannot just "invent" sound events and expect them to work. Also, you do not have to add engine, windsound, gear, air brakes, afterburner, or tiretouch sounds to the soundlist. Just call them out from the model's data.ini
  18. That's OK. After a week of extended and double shifts, I forgot to clock out one afternoon. It's a non-issue, since I have proof (emails sent during the shift) to support the fact that I was working, so my supervisor will simply add the hours to the next pay period. I used to good for being up for 36+ hours with only a few power naps to keep me alert. That was when I was in my 30s and 40s and running charter boats. I also once drove for 18 hours and 1100 miles straight with only short meal and potty breaks (all taken whenever the car needed to be fueled) I doubt that I can do that now.
  19. LOL, didn't Zer0_Stinko once threaten people with lawsuits for using their "work" at one point? I mean, threaten them in advance, before any of "his" work was even released? It would be quite fitting if someone sued him for piracey.
  20. That's a mod that I created for that video, I've since added Photon Torpedoes, as well I will find that FM and upload when I get a chance.....and with my present work schedule, that may even be sometime before the end of this decade!
  21. The NCC-1701 has been available for at least the last five years, as part of FastCargo's "Secret Intercept" mission pack.
  22. The SS El Faro sailed into the Bermuda triangle, and vanished just north of the Bahama Bank. The powers-that-be are blaming its disappearance on Hurricane Joaquin, but we all know better. It's time to start searching for it in the Gobi desert. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SS_El_Faro
  23. Good Computer Chair?

Gee Dave, he suggested an exercise ball, not an MRI machine. or a scrap yard electromagnet.
