The silencer part allows made me laugh. Here's a nice comparison video of a Walter P-22 with and without a suppressor (silencer). Note that the shooter is using normal, supersonic ammo during both demonstrations, so one still hears the echoing "crack" made by the rounds as they exceed Mach 1. If he had used sub-sonic ammo, all that one would hear is would be a "pffft" sound (until the round strikes something solid).

Kresta II Class Cruiser by Julhelm This model represents the Soviet Project 1134A Kresta II class anti-submarine cruiser, which served with the Soviet and Russian Fleets from the late 1960s into the early 1990s. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kresta_II_class_cruiser This model was designed and optimized for SF2:NA, and that means Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8. At the very least it requires the latest SF2 series patch for its systems and DX10 visual effects to work properly. To install this package, simply place the folders located inside the .ZIP archive into the mod folder of whichever SF2 title you desire the ship to appear in. Additional work will be required on your part to ensure that the ship's TEWS RWR symbol (TopSail) is added to the RWR list of any aircraft so equipped. Instructions on how to do this, can be found on the SF2 knowledge base, courtesy of EricJ: http://combatace.com/topic/44441-making-a-custom-tga-for-tews-radar-warning-recievers/ The SA-N-3 model that’s included, is a high-poly version, that will replace the default Third Wire version. It does not adversely effect frame rates, and will work well on the SF2:NA Kiev model, as well. The supplied sound effects will require editing of the soundlist.ini file in order to work. I’ve included a modified soundlist.ini file, for those who do not have it extracted. Warning: Be careful if you already have an existing custom soundlist.ini file, as it will be overwritten. In that case, simply add the following lines (shown below), taking care to follow the existing numbering sequence (the soundlist.ini will reside in your flight folder). Use the supplied soundlist.ini as a guide. SoundFileXXX=Underway SoundFileXXX=ReductionGear SoundFileXXX=CIWS SoundFileXXX=SAMLaunch SoundFileXXX=AK725 [underway] Priority=Normal 3DSound=TRUE DopplerEffect=TRUE Looped=TRUE NumBuffers=2 MaxDist=250.000000 MinDist=10.000000 InsideConeAngle=360 OutsideConeAngle=360 ConeOutsideVolume=100 [ReductionGear] Priority=NORMAL 3DSound=TRUE DopplerEffect=TRUE Looped=TRUE NumBuffers=4 MaxDist=2000.000000 MinDist=10.000000 InsideConeAngle=360 OutsideConeAngle=360 ConeOutsideVolume=100 [CIWS] Priority= Normal Looped=TRUE NumBuffers=2 3DSound=TRUE DopplerEffect=FALSE MaxDist=2000.000000 MinDist=50.000000 InsideConeAngle=360 OutsideConeAngle=360 ConeOutsideVolume=100 [sAMLaunch] Priority=Normal 3DSound=TRUE NumBuffers=2 MaxDist=10000.000000 MinDist=100.000000 InsideConeAngle=360 OutsideConeAngle=360 ConeOutsideVolume=0 [AK725] Priority=Low Looped=FALSE NumBuffers=4 3DSound=TRUE DopplerEffect=FALSE MaxDist=1000.000000 MinDist=50.000000 InsideConeAngle=360 OutsideConeAngle=360 Known issues: 1) The main radar antenna (Top Sail) doesn’t have a double-sided mesh, so as it rotates, you will notice that the face of the antenna loses its “grid”. This will be rectified in a later release, when the developer manages to catch a break from his busy schedule. That was a juvenile red-tailed hawk. They mostly feed on terrestrial prey (they love rabbits), and seldom hunt birds on the wing, so I'd say that was more than likely a case of it defending its hunting grounds. An interesting side-note: Whenever Hollywood shows a raptor in scene, irregardless of the species, they almost always use a Redtailed Hawk's "Ki-Yiiiiiiiii !" scream, instead of that bird's actual call. Eagles, falcons, and ospreys do not sound like this, only Redtailed Hawks:

F-104 Intakes
Fubar512 replied to Z09SS's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
General rule of thumb is to start by matching the cockpit position in the cockpit.ini, with that of the pilot position in the data.ini. Then, check the view lines by alternating between an external view of the aircraft, and the view from the cockpit. One drawback is that this simulation treats cockpit views as if one's head were fixed to a pole, and limited to swiveling right and left, and up and down. Because of this limitation, the view one would expect to achieve by craning one's neck and placing one's head as close to the canopy as possible, cannot be achieved. -

Judging by that view, your cockpit is positioned way too high, and too far aft. -

In short, no way, the pilot would have to have a neck like as flexible as an owl's, and even then, the intakes are so far back from the cockpit that they would most likely be obscured by the fuselage. Think of them as being "over the horizon" from the cockpit The way to view the refueling probe was to define the nose as being "VisibleFromCockpit=True". As the intakes are part of the fuselage, and that is by default set as visible, it appears that your idea won't fly, unless you somehow offset the pilot view as being outside the cockpit. -

At $550 per tire, you may be somewhat conservative with that estimate!

Stary's cockpits not showing?
Fubar512 replied to AndrejTupolev's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Have you checked to see if the cockpits are working on any of the SF default aircraft since you've added these mods? -
Here's a neat episode of PBS's Nova Online, that most of you should enjoy. I don't know if you can see it outside of the US... http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/military/first-air-war.html

Stary's cockpits not showing?
Fubar512 replied to AndrejTupolev's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
The .lod (level of detail) files are the actual 3d model file for all objects, including cockpits. Using the MiG-19S cockpit as an example, there should be a "MiG-19SF_Cockpit.lod" file contained within. If it's there, the other thing I would check would be the graphics settings under "options". Make sure that they're set to at least high. -

Open up any of the offending aircraft .ini files, such as the MiG-19S.ini, and then see if the following entries (which I've marked in bold type), are present. [AircraftData] AircraftFullName=MiG-19S "Farmer-C" AircraftShortName=MiG-19 AircraftDataFile=MiG-19S_data.ini LoadoutFile=MiG-19S_loadout.ini UserList=MiG-19S_UserList.ini CockpitDataFile=MiG-19S_cockpit.ini AvionicsDLL=Avionics60.dll AvionicsDataFilename=MiG-19S_avionics.ini If those lines are there, the next most likely issue, is a nested cockpit folder. Open up the cockpit folder, and make sure that there are only files, and not another cockpit folder, contained within. -

The "Never release" list. You´ll be surprised!

So, in other words, these are aircraft that you want us to never release under any circumstances? -

What part of Cuba has hedge-rows? -
What are your hardware specs, and what OS are you using? Update: Ironroad, I believe that you're experiencing a "playback switchology" issue, and not a rendering issue. Click on the gearwheel icon on the Youtube window, and use it to set your playback resolution to the highest level allowed (720p or 1080p in the case of the video on the bottom), and see if that helps.

Fubar512 replied to FLOGGER23's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Nice! Though if at all possible, I would remove the rivets from the skin textures, and add them only to bump-maps (if bump maps are available, that is). Remember, rivets would be painted over in real life, so they would not appear to contrast against the aircraft's outer skin that way. -
PC: Add RAM for SP2?
Fubar512 replied to Coupi's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
You mean add another 8 GB specifically for SF2 (of any stripe)? No, as SF2 is a 32-bit application, so it can only utilize 2 GB of allocated RAM. 8 GB is good enough for gaming and most computing, unless you're also using that system to encode video, remaster audio, etc. Watch the following video. -
I currently use Bluestacks, but intend to switch to Genymotion, as I hate dealing with the pervasive ads on Bluestacks.

One thing that no one here mentioned so far, is that they used an actual Tiger 1 in the film, not some silly stand-in, like dressed-up M-48s ( as they did in Patton) or a tarted-up T34 (Kelly's Heros). A much more realistic ending (given the date), would have been for the crew to have encountered an entire platoon of Tigers as they sat disabled at the crossroads. As this seemingly overwhelming force drew within range, the crew of the Fury prepared for what was undoubtedly going to be their last battle. Then they notice that the turrets of their opponents were reversed. The war had ended, thus sparing all.

What If Screenshot Thread.......
Fubar512 replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Screen Shots
That was just a "test" effect on the Photon torpedoes. I've decided on a more traditional effect, one that's in keeping with the model's TOS origins.
