  1. Realistic and detailed to what end? There is a limit to how detailed a model can be, before it places too much of a demand on the average system. Try Julhelm's Ulyanovsk, or Skatezilla's CVN-75. Both are pretty much about as detailed a model as the game engine and the average system can handle, without taking a major hit in frame rates. Now, if you're talking systems like animated arresting gear and catapult shuttles, well, that's not coded into the game engine, Put simply, the game would not know how to animate them.
  2. Green Hell 3.5

Stary, you are a constant source of amazement as you continually push the boundaries of what's possible in this series. As always, great work!
  3. I don't look forward to rating any of Stary's work, if only because every superlative imaginable has already been used up! Declaring this add-on "Superb", just barely scratches the surface!
  4. So nice of them to use SF for the simulation...lol
  5. and Cannot embed this one, but it shows the control settings for spin recovery in the F-4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HklhZuUQfTY
  6. HEY! It's...

    Happy Birthday, Brain!
  7. So it is essentially a DirectX version issue, as we thought.
  8. what did happen to the droptanks jettisonned over Vietnam?

A small industrial park that was located near the town where I grew up, used sectioned and cement-filled drop tanks from P-47s as gate posts. They were originally manufactured at that site.
  9. SF2 with the latest patches is Windows Vista and 7 only, as XP does not support DirectX 10. Wrench suggested that it may also be due to your system running out of texture memory. What sort of graphics card are you running?
  10. A real bird's eye view

It sure is, and did you notice how fast the Peregrine rolled, and how precise the roll was?
  11. 390 kt TAS or IAS? 390 TAS = 448 MPH 360 kt IAS @ 7,000 feet = 410 kt TAS
  12. Keep on the lookout

Yes, the unfortunate amphibian has become the latest internet celebrity, and like Forest Gump, he's been showing up practically everywhere.
  13. The GTX760 is the lower-mid-range enthusiast card from nVidia at the moment. They offer it with a frame buffer of up to 4 GB. That's a lot of VRAM!
  14. Rule number one: Never max out the horizon distance. Try setting that to normal and let us know how much it helps.
  15. In Alexander Zuyev's book "Fulcrum - A top gun pilot's escape the Soviet Empire", Zuyev (who had many hours in the MiG-23) stated that the '23 had terrible stall characteristics and a resultant high-landing speed, and was found wholly unsuitable for conversion into a carrier-based aircraft. Despite this, OKB Mikoyan kept pushing the concept, with the result that several prototypes were lost and several pilots badly injured during tests. The one good thing that came out of that program, was proof that zero-zero ejection seats actually did function (and saved lives) as intended,
  16. Try upping the CEP, by increments of .010. Increasing accuracy past 100% achieves nothing, and may even be seen as lower than "100" by the system. Another thought: The system may not recognize a game object without defined collision points as being capable of damaging another object. Perhaps equipping it with a 5 kg warhead without visiual effects and imbuing it with 3 meter blast radius may help you achieve what you're after
  17. Star Trek encounters something bad

    Strange new worlds.....
  18. Hungarian drone intercepted by Egypt...

That's not the worst of it, by far. I've encountered entire platoons of them "goose stepping" across busy roads. Just look at this, they don't even bother to serenade you with a cadence.....
  19. Hungarian drone intercepted by Egypt...

In that case, I have a park full of Canadian drones across the street from my place of work. When we attempted to interrogate them, they simply waddled over to us and responded with a resounding "HONK!"
  20. Ken Wallis: James Bond stunt pilot dies aged 97

    Godspeed, Wing Commander Wallis

  23. Russ, That's not good. I do not recommend purchasing a dedicated backup drive, as I've seen too many of them fail. Instead, I urge you to go with an external eSATA/USB HDD dock, such as this one by Thermaltake: http://www.amazon.com/Thermaltake-BlacX-eSATA-Docking-Station/dp/B001A4HAFS . One can then pick up several inexpensive SATA drives to use as backup media (it even accepts 2.5" notebook drives)
