What is your most formidable opponent?
macelena replied to guyran's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Do you know why most people gets mad at F-15 and Su-27? because that´s what "air superiority" means -
I think that despite much wrong he did, he tried to make it well. Being neither northamerican nor vietnamese, i don´t have the right to complain, i guess that you will be better aware of what he did, and have the right to judge him, but i just think that it shouldn´t be blamed for how did vietnam go -alone.

Here it´s July 4th already, so Happy Independence Day!!!

Recently i saw a bio-documentary on him. And i couldn´t tell you, i didn´t know how to judge him and the way he acted, it´s kind of i couldn´t tell if he had been good or bad for the US and the world, but he neither seemed sure about it.

Impressive man, allways interested me

Know Your Rival..., Pros and Cons.
macelena replied to guyran's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
In the late years of Southern Watch, they outran AMRAAMs and Phoenix, but someone else may tell you better That´s why i improved the missiles as from the original MF weps to match their western counterparts. Perhaps it is not accurate, but makes the game more challenging. About the MiG-29, IIRC, the trials on german examples after 1989 showed that the combination of HMD with AA-11 made them beat every adversary in "fair", close combta conditions conditions, but it´s been proven how can this be solved with an overwhelming environment in term of SA, and all related to comms, radar, electronics, etc. What i mean is that perhaps these are as good as their opponents, but the battlefield conditions make the difference "If you engage in a fair fight, then your tactics are failing" -

The F-15 was employed allways as part of an integrated plan wich consisted in overwhelming its opponents, either in Lebanon, the Gulf or the Balkans, this, combined with it´s excellent characteristics, explain their sucess. About the MiG-25, their record is poor against F-15s (Israel, Gulf War) and F-14s (Iran-Iraq, Gulf of Sidra), and it is even possible that one was once shot down by a Mirage F-1, but if worked as a part of an integrated air defence sistem wich resisted supression strikes (as suffered from US and Israeli opponents), it could have worked superbly. -

So your trouble is stealth and something wich can see you before you do. It´s a classic -

In that period, i think that my nemesis will differ from others. I have the Mirage Factory weapons pack, but as i found the soviet missiles too ineffective, so i tunned them up, so MiG-25 and Su-27s became the worst. On the red side, my worst fear (and i think that everything will be said again) are F-15s. -

F-106 in Vietnam
macelena posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
I always wanted to see my Dart (yes, mine) into Vietnam. I thought of an scenario, in wich NVAF would have sent "Bedcheck" like operations with An-2 or Il-28 into the USAF airbases. This way, interceptors would have got a role. I know that this was the event in wich the F-102 were first sent into Vietnam, but i would like to know what do you think about this issue, such as the Dart capability to engage low level intruders, and any other thing you may consider -
F-106 in Vietnam

It is meat enough to a campaign in Korea. I don´t know if there is any campaign inspired by the "Second Korean War Era" (i think there is none, but there might be, as it would only take some modifications to the original).. It´s surprising the fact that aircraft such as 106 were intended to conduct SEAD and armed recon, th scenario i was thinking was merely a reedition of bedcheck charlie events, something wich, as i read ultimately, was a possibility already expected in SEA (wich motivated the detachment of 59th fis- those kind of raids ocurred by An-2s against USN in Yankee Station without sucess) -

They did, in order to save maintenance and weight, but the guns were reinstalled when it was needed as ballast for keeping the aircraft balanced and the possibility of sending them to Afghanistan. The guns weren´t removed by the other air forces -

What i said about the winder was for the Foxtrot, the F-86F. If you got the Kilo or Dog, it won´t escape by speed anyway, so you could use the guns. -
Now that´s a Mirage Puzzle. At least the pilot survived

Let alone diminishing the cost per unit due to a research wich will be paid among more than 183 planes, and the availability of spares

It didn´t work on my PC, so i used the pit of Kfir C2, but there is no reason why it shouldn´t work on yours -
I understand what you feel, past week a friend of mine crashed his car into a bridge to avoid hitting a driver who exceded the speed limit, he was four days in the Hospital, paralyzed, until he died. When they got the motha, he said that he felt sorry, but he was late to work. As time goes by pain, hatre and unability to change things hits me and our companions in law school, we are making the maths for the time in prison of the s**tbag, remember the life he had to live Sorry for your loss, try to stay frosty, don´t get mad.
