  1. Jug Has Passed Away

Farewell Sir, will be missed, and not forgotten. RIP
  2. Jump Wings

After a week of hitting my ass in the ground, and 6 jumps in three days, i graduated as a paratrooper yesterday. Never been that scared. Our class became known as the "patrol of death" because we had an statistically unheard incident rate due to our goofiness, including me headbutting my own plane and another guy hanging from another aircraft because...i don´t really know how did he manage to do it. Also against statistics we were the first course to jump three time in a morning and the first class in wich nobody chickened out. 87 out of 87 walked out with our jump wings bragging and wearing rights certified despite the best efforts of our airforce pilots and jumpmasters. A very humbling experience, despite making us very proud. It is weird when you see the biggest, most gung-ho and macho guy in your company asking you to hold his hand when attached to the static line because half an hour before he had pulled the cord of his reserve chute in another jump. "I could not see you, and i thought i was dropping too fast". So, will be back to Light Infantry training, including a charming week-long exercise on one of the nicest snowy mountain ranges we could ever call a shithole. After that, we will join our units and be the tip of the di..spear

  4. Quite surprising, I would wait to get some kind of confirmation. http://theaviationist.com/2014/12/29/su-24-fuerza-aerea-argentina/
  5. Argentine Fencers

Drunk posting, sorry guys, it was my birthday
  6. 2224 US Troops KIA....

Afghanistan is still a shithole, but the coalition bumped it in a way they have a chance to move forward. It won´t make bullshit stop happening, but you have to start with something. Wether what has been achieved was worth the sacrifices undertaken in this 13 years, you can´t walk into some orphan or widow and tell them the world is better because their husband or father died there. Afghans have been given a chance, and it is the country wich grew the most in the last decade. Whatever it was worthy or not depends on what they do now. But it will take much more work and sacrifices to get them to be a fairly decent country. However, if you want a second hand opinion, you can ask OBL. You just have to send the Seals back after him because i think he was somewhere underwater playing Aquaman
  7. China's New CIWS

I long for a nuclear powered battleship with Railguns and uberpowerful laser CIWS...but after Obama put down the petition to build the Death Star...
  8. Sworn in

After two months working harder and having the most fun ever, i´ve finally been sworn in as a soldier in the Spanish Army, and right now at home by Christmas leave, will go straight to Parachute School in January. Having the best time of my life
  9. I though he was taking off at first sight https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fx5p1m5XFbQ#t=13
  10. Star Wars 7 : The Force Awakens Teaser Trailer

Absolutely looking forward, have my heart split between loving the X-wing and the falcon and wishing to see some innovation, i just hope it is not a remake of the old trilogy and they keep adding new hardware. Would like to see that possibility of an stormtrooper turning into a good guy as well as the perspective of the imperial soldiers
  11. On my way

In 3 hours i depart for boot camp. It is not the first time, as i had already entered the Royal Guard. Back then i was injured and dropped out instead of getting a medical leave so i could compete again for another station. I'm going to the Parachute Brigade this time. As i've been told, it is the hardest spot i could choose, and while i'm spooked at the possibility of failing, i know i did what i had to, and i'm excitedly looking forward to it. Just hoping and willing to be up to the job. A happy man talking here
  12. On my way

We found a bootprint in the ceiling about 4 meters/12 ft above the floor. We think it is the same staff sargent wich literally kicked a guy from another company out of the barracks while was trying to hide during colors. Got to crawl across a pit full of glass, referencing a "The way of the gun" every half a minute, thanks supply for our cut proof suits
  13. On my way

Well, first week almost over, they got all paratrooper candidates of all specialties together at 1st coy. 12% drop out rate, but other companies think it is about 30 and we won't correct them. I've got some badass mates. Held a fart duel last night, formed for reveille half an hour early, whistling the call, while our Sgt freaked out yelling "I have to order you that, you fuckers!" It is much harder than Royal Guard, of course, but the no-bullshit attitude and our cool Sgts make it freaking great
  14. Yes, there were, from the low level high speed flight inbound to the merge, we overshot as they started an spiral down on as, usually, then dove back into them, rolling is easier than turning. Then, you get a fairly good enough position to use the AAMsor spray with gun. If the first time it doesn´t work, try again, but the longer you do, the more easily they will eventually catch you. Indeed, it is only doable as the AI doesn´t work too well on the vertical and you get that close by taking advantage of the terrain in ways wich you can´t do in real life as easily, such as obscuring their line of sight with hills and so. Also, after the merge climb it is more critical than ever to keep awareness at all times of how is the Eagle maneuvering so when you dive back, you can be accurate enough to do it in the right spot, the is very little margin for error. Did another between IRIAF Tomcats and IDFAF Baz, 2vs2 on a clear night. They got us painted since we took off at around 60 miles. Both sides kept ECM running until my wingman managed to shoot one of them down with a Phoenix, but they spoiled all other launches, i guess with ECM, or at least so it seemed. They appeared to be much farther than where i knew they really were, when my own radar burned through, they where much closer than TWS displayed them. The surviving Baz took out the other AliCat with an Sparrow, and i dodged them by beaming, ECM and using ground clutter. During the merge, he launched an AIM-9L wich hit me, but as i saw several times, when you get hit (or the AI for that matter) with a AIM-9L while flying supersonic as i was from the front, it is quit possible that the missile detonates by you but the damage is so slight that it is in fact uneffective. As i had no faceshooters, i had to get on his six. We merged and i did went on the vertical to burn speed for a good position, and got into an slow turning fight. For once, i managed to keep the Tomcat fly as i wanted him to, and, flying at 200 knots versus him at 300, he eventually went defensive, and when he tried to unload, i shot the two winders less than a mile from his tail.
  15. Fury

Crazyhorse freaked out when i showed the early trailer before summer, so you can count on him. I´m not so sure i´ll be able to, but sure i wish i could
  16. I don´t fly much after 1982 because of all-aspect missiles, mainly, a bit of an spoiler, but i could live with the issue of AHMs, it doesn´t make Tomcats unbeatable at least
  17. I don´t know, that´s why i haven´t done a DACT report myself yet, will have to check each mod available. The first that comes to mind is SFP1s, it was hard, but fun as hell.
  18. I did some F-104 vs F-15s a while back, it was a matter of flying nap of the earth at near Mach 1 to avoid their Sparrows, zoom behind and below them and keep fast and out of their nose to avoid a AIM-9L faceshot. With reliable missiles, like AIM-9Ns or Ps, you can have a fair chance to get them, as they are more reliable (or were, when i tried them in an earlier patch level) than all-aspect missiles against flares.
  19. I read a while back in this forum that F-16s carry their AMRAAMs in the outer wings because they were expected to be fired earlier than the sidewinders, and it helped to keep the aircraft balanced. The Spanish Air Force had their EF-18M wired, and tested AMRAAMs for the wingtips, but this capability is never to be used as their could cause issues with the folding wing with high G maneuvers, just see how they bounce in any video from a Hornet cockpit. They use IRIS-Ts instead.
  20. To all the Soldiers here....

Hehe, this guy here still a civiy until Monday
  21. Good news

Glad to see you are better, didn´t know about the damn clot, i hope it just stays put and disperses, get well man
  22. American Sniper

I know the man was controversial, personally i won´t judge him as i didn´t know him and won´t have the chance, but this is looking good. Also, it is directed by Clint Eastwood, whom, when not talking to empty chairs, can do quite engaging war films. If this is along the lines of Flags/Letters, it will be great. It seems once a year there is a SEAL movie, can´t complain. Loved Lone Survivor, and it was the most popular film here when released.
