Sooo...are we there yet?
macelena posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
It´s been almost a year since the last patch and DLCs were released by TW, and i haven´t seen an update for mobile games in a while. What do you think, did they go out of business or something? EDIT: I just saw a tweet and they were working on iOS by May 6th, and there have been some tweets, but still, kind of creepy, if not unexpected. There are still some relatively easy bucks to make in the PC games, i think -
there are better ways to spend the energy, if you are faster than you target, you can climb, start turning before he crosses the axis and dive into him

Let alone, be more effective against piracy EDIT: However, it is amazing that sales are THAT bad not to justify, in example, the expense of porting some stuff from mobile games, like an AI pack with MiG-25s and F-5s, or a NATO-USAF F-16 DLC wich wouldn´t be much more than skinning, i guess -
Not such a big deal in that regard, F-16s have already been delivered to many nations wich, by a variety of political circumstances, could or did turn hostile to the US, see Jordan, Egypt, Venezuela, Pakistan...even Turkey and recently, Morocco. Arming those with a fighter that is neither obsolete nor an absolute game changer might be wise to empower their governments who are allied out of convenience against those who would overthrow them with a hostile regime. However, if they had to get Su-30s, there wouldn´t be a dependence on US support.

Godzilla...what about Transformers? It would be cool if instead of infantry closing in to shoot assault rifles and some 40mm grenades they had somekind of airborne, fast moving, fixed or rotary wing vehicle able to deliver guided missiles or armor piercing 30mm. Nah, if that worked in Starship Troopers, they will be cool. About the Marvel Avengers...well, i guess there is some hardware very aptly named. It is not like they didn´t know they were coming in advance

Fishbed tactics against fighters?
macelena replied to Stratos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
The MiG-21F13 outmaneuvers and outclimbs almost any contemporary aircraft. R3S missiles were useful in real life, but ingame, they can´t be fired within parameters since any target will be given notice of the incoming missile and get away with the lightest maneuver. Sometimes, i get no kills with the missiles BUT go for cannon. Even with 30 rounds, you can still inflict quite an amount of damage if you use your maneuvrability to stick to any target so close you can´t miss. 5 shots for each kill can be achieved, if you don´t mind crashing into your target from time to time. There are times in wich i get to kill 3 Huns, Thuds, Phantoms, Skyhawks, Vatours or Mirages and go back believing i have exhausted the ammo only to find i had half of the magazine left. It is also useful NOT to use the rangefinding radar so as not to spook your prey. Also, it´s audio-only RWR is a life-saver, no question about it. Many times they broke away when i locked them up for a radar aided gun kill. And to the question of Matra 530s being useless, i think they are just very picky about their parameters. I would pick one of those over two nearly useless early Sidewinder-like missiles. While they are very useful against MiG-17s wich may be elusive to a gun kill, any MiG-21 will be alerted and may act against it...however, if fired properly, there is a no escape zone wich makes it very valuable -
Did You Know, Drones?

That you did what? A Hun against Mirages? Israeli Mirages? Are you that John Boyd? -
While i´m a little bit more optimistic than you, the only reason i go out in a Sunday for voting is because my mother wakes me up as soon as the schools open, with the ballot already enclosed in the envelope. "You live in my house. You know what´s good for you". For all i cared to know, i may be voting for the "Islamist Front for the Re-Hajijization of Al-Andalus"

Lever, Knob, or Button? Working on a cockpit for sci fi story

Put a fiber optic wire in his/her brain. It would add to the creep level of the story if they could mindfuck the pilot with EW or something -

Are Gunners too deadly?
macelena replied to Emp_Palpatine's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Historically speaking, there are not too many precedents to this particular era. B-52s had two kills in Vietnam and none were shot down, IIRC, by VPAF fighters within their guns range. However, i think Il-28s against the IAF Mirages weren´t as succesful. I think some Tu-16s were shot down, but there were doubts about them being shot down with Shafrirs or AAA. Game wise, i think it is OK. This, together with the fact that sometimes they are hard to catch up with (interceptors usually having to climb and maneuver into weapon parameters) makes for fun intercept missions -
Enjoy it sir, i think you made your part plentifully

Holy crap, they are close

The best way is to watch them as an independent work. I think Dave and I already said something about Total Recall in another thread. From my point of view, the best way to see it is open minded, not expecting anything. I personally feel weird about the new guys casted, but i´m betting it will be great in its own way

Got cancelled by the Obama administration :(

Would be a good question, but i mean how does a pilot live air combat from a personal point of view, emotionally, what does one feel about flying ain combat. What i´m most interested in, personally, is what is going through the mind of a pilot when engaging the enemy
-
Hey, if i was a conservative i would say those are keynesian microeconomics
-
Out of your experience, what does mean air combat from the pilots human, personal point of view? EDIT: If the former was unappropiate "Would you old guys mind being not so much fucking awesome? We are all feeling like pussies knowing about guys like you, Giora Epstein or Robin Olds"

Best Carrier Game
macelena replied to Chutedangle's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I like Vietnam the most, while you get single missions from the carrier out of the box with SF2NA, better graphics and the naval stuff, Vietnam is more varied, historical, reliable and, ultimately, cool. While both are great, and complement each other well, Vietnam kicks North Atlantic ass Wow, that sounded a lot like Vietnamese Propaganda against a NATO attack -
