  1. Coming out of the civilian closet

Back from first week, got a pass. I´m not allowed to post pics nor discuss anything about the job, but so far, i´m loving it.
  2. Did I Just Read This Right?

    Nuts, Nuts everywhere
  3. Just put on the exe file, accept everything until it is ok
  4. Rambo is back!

No, no new film...so far, i think they are still about to go with a TV series. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwlVCGXErHo I seem to remember the first one was not that violent, but this will be epic, either a win or fail.
  5. Perhaps fiddling with the Dive or level bombing AI in the aircraft´s data ini could do, but this would change their attack profiles for every target, sea or land. If you are having an aircraft dedicated specifically to attack ships with dumb bombs, like Argentines in the Falklands, it would work flawlessly, however, any input could have its downsides
  6. Being a Hipster is not just about the birth control glasses...wait a minute...hipster tanker? Oddball, is that you?
  7. Hipsters don´t like Israel i guess. When ideas become fashion...
  8. Dogfights gaining relevance again?

In my opinion, it will be the same it ever was, only more complex, and more stuff to learn about. OODA loop principles with newer technology, training, learning, thinking out of the box, empathy... whenever men are fighting, it will allways be the same.
  9. Coming out of the civilian closet

Thanks a lot. Today it was October 12, National Party. Besides the usual parade, the "Escuadrilla" (Company in the Air Force) i´m being sent to was the one to fire the salvo during the "Homage to the Fallen", probably the most important event of the day. For once, mom seemed more proud than concerned, but yesterday´s casualty of another Air Force "defender" the same morning as i told the news creeped her out a bit. "Hi Dad, Mom, i´m back from the MoD office, i´m in, Air Force, Royal Guard" then Dad said "Hi Mac, congrats, you know, one of yours just got killed today, RIP". I still don´t know how to tell her when i do the Paratrooper course. About how we keep up on a low budget, and this is just my own opinion, we use to spend the money on stuff that works. There are many things i wish were better, but i guess that right now, the best way we can defend Spain is to make do with as little as we can need to keep our capabilities, both structurally and operationally. And people works really hard on that, from enlisted to flag officers. I´ve been quite lucky to get a vacant, with the current downsizing, there was one for every 28 candidates.

  11. Coming out of the civilian closet

Well, today it was confirmed, Air Force, Security&Defence, Royal Guard. Have orders to report for training Monday 21st. I've been told training is going to be harder than other stations of my speciality, but honestly i can´t wait. As a sad note, a would-be air force security mate died today after tripping off a cliff while on patrol guarding a Radar Station in the mountains, a few kilometers away from here. I hope i can live up to him and all others.
  12. I just read your message in the Spanish Forum, as it seems translated by Google, i imagine that it will be better if i provide any feedback here, in English. Can´t promise as tomorrow i´m meant to recieve orders to join the real Spanish Air force in a few days, but i´ll do what i can.

  15. Lone Survivor

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJZtRt5INA0 Hey, i´m good with a SEALs flick per year. This one is gonna kick ass.
  16. For the expansion pack, you would need SF2E and SF2V, i think. However, even if you don´t want to buy all what it takes for it to work, that´s what i think you get from other TW stuff if you have money to spend on it: SF2V gives you carriers plus a lot of USN aircraft. That being said, SF2V is my favourite title and with the SF2NA features, you can get single missions from carriers with little editing SF2E gives you, beside the other campaign of this war, a flyable F-4E (75) for the 57th FIS out of Keflavik. Along with two RAF Phantom squadrons as a reinforcement. Along with a lot of USAF and RAF aircraft from the era. RAF harriers use to deploy from the tricky to operate and name airstrip in the northwest corner of the island in single missions. As of useful DLCs: F-4N is my personal favourite. You get to play with an ass-kicking underdog, easier to land on carriers than Tomcats, and another model for variety in the fighter arena. The model has been fixed and looks superb. F-4Ks would make up the aforementioned RAF reinforcement. Along with French Crusaders, they deploy from USN carriers, but the latter is lacking performance in many areas for the Northern Sabre campaign, could be way too challenging. Also especially useful is the mission editor, either as a DLC stand-alone or from Expansion2. Specially if you want to strike something other than the soviet battlegroup in single missions. Preferably as part of EXP2, since it can be installed now without having SF2E and includes a hell lot of features, including the Lightning variants.
  17. Truth About the F-35 RAAF

Stealth is the way to go, but not as an invincible tool. Like the armour versus gun race. In the end, i think it will all be up to networked, integrated systems, both within the own aircraft and the different platforms, and the way they work together. It is not such a new trend but the same situation with new technologies. A Mirage 3 is not inherently better than a MiG-21, and the MiG-29 could take on an F-15 in a dogfight anytima, however, what made the Israelis win in 1967 and 1982, and the F-15 to dominate in 1991, was teamwork and trickery.
  18. Truth About the F-35 RAAF

ouch! it loops into this page again
  19. Tom Clancy Dies at Age 66

Just to make a poll, how many of you can see your RSR book from where you are right now? I looked at my 9 and there it was
  20. Tom Clancy Dies at Age 66

Wow, never liked the guy, but i think this deserves a re-read of Red Storm Rising and a SF2 reenacment. RIP Btw, they should dedicate him the upcoming "Jack Ryan"
  21. Anyone Else Furloughed Today?

While as a foreigner i´m neutral to your politics, Stolen Valor comes to mind.
  22. IDF/AF scrambles jets to intercept flock of birds

The Egyptians had another such scramble not too long ago. In the Middle East, with the proliferation of UAVs, i guess nodoby is going to discard an small, slow and weird radar signature as a possible intruder anymore.
  23. Excuse me, but am I missing something here?

Using you as a human shield in a motorbike so a guy in a SUV with his familiy stops to get beaten by you and dozens of buddy freaks. Effing great idea, you earned a Darwin award
