In Spain we keep the last year, non-updated budget. Fortunately, it has never happened yet. We may get pays unadjusted for inflation, or loose the extra pays for Christmas or summer, however. A salary decrease may be compensated with days of leave.

Wow, you are popular now lol

It could be doable, especially with current technology, but i still think it would take a terminal guidance system to prevent lag from botching the interception and pretty good ECCM. Besides a hell lot of troubleshooting i guess the weapon´s smart guys should fix. Besides that, while all my experience on that issue comes from playing SF2NA, couldn´t you shoot AIM-54s against targets spotted by AWACS with a fire solution based on the information and parameters that the datalink provides to your fire control computers without your own radar? Maybe somebody with knowledge about Tomcats and related staff could tell better than i do.

USN Carriers
macelena replied to Antares81's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
All carriers are night-capable...believe me, i crash Intruders on them quite often by night. -
Wouldn´t it be technically a command guided missile?

SF2 Series DACT Reports And Related A2A Discussions (Game only)
macelena replied to EricJ's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
24.5 times as of Wikipedia. All USAF Phantoms combined got 15.5 gun kills. (that half kill each possibly shared between an F-105 and an F-4D) Don´t know of any USN phantom gun kill, it seems unlikely. There were 2 Skyraider gun kills, plus 1, possibly 2 Super Sabre kills, and one Crusader gun kill. B-52s got two further tail-gun kills. Unless i miss something, this means 24.5 for the Thud, and 22.5 kills for all other types combined. IIRC, it was the Thud´s gun exploits wich prompted the use of gunpods and the installation of the Vulcan in F-4Es, and subsequently, all USAF fighters up to the Raptor. -
If she was under her in the chain of command, i´m sorry buddy, but you have to suck it up. No pun intended.

I´m starting to move to make a campaign based in the USN-French Navy operations over Lebanon and Syria in 1983. Does anybody know if there is one already made? If not, can you provide some clues and know-how? I have an stock, full-5 merged install. I don´t know if i should put the carriers like in SF2V (Would it require terrain ini editing, i guess?) or combat groups like in SF2NA (naval map required?). The latter would be prefered, so as to include surface groups supporting ground Ops. Also, any historical insight in those operations would be gladly welcome, i´m researching it but i would love to have as much info about it. Basically, it would be a carriers only campaign. As i did with Northern Sabre Plus, i intend to make it useable with an stock install, then serve as a template for each one to modify or run it at will with 3d party stuff.

Carrier landings in SF2 Atlantic
macelena replied to Leviathan1000's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Maybe i´m more used to the Phantom, because i prefer it for carrier landing and combat, control wise, to the Tomcat. Just get used to it. About the F-14, it is indeed harder, despite the advanced HUD, but i would still rate it as harder to land than the F-4. That´s the same case as with A-7s and A-4s. However, the hardest aircraft to put on deck, without any doubt, be it a Kitty or an Essex, is the F-8. About wingmen missing the ship, i have an stock game, and i,ve seen many phantoms wich fail to catch the wire and keep rolling off the deck. And some of those weren´t even me, but AI planes. -

Lebanon 1982-83
macelena replied to macelena's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I know, the stock only campaign is a way to see how to do all the INI works so it runs as desired. Of course, it would be updated with 3rd party stuff once the INIs and historical info are fixed properly. -
Real World F-4C Question
macelena replied to Z09SS's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I have a video of an Spanish F-4C pilot talking about them, having experienced several. According to him, a last resort was to open the tail chute, being ordered to bail out when below 10k feet, an order usually overlooked if the crew was confident in recovery. Wish i had it with English subs. -
I will do Spanish for free

Lebanon 1982-83
macelena replied to macelena's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
So far, i haven´t been able to work it out due to time. I would like to make it in such a way that it would use only TW made stuff BUT serving as an easily moddable template for user edited campaigns. I would need to learn how to make it so Israeli activities are decreased, ground war is fought between UNIFIL and a red side, and having battlegroup based operations, I.E, a CVBG for each carrier, a surface, fire support group, an amphibious group, while representing carriers and air wings rotating. I wouldn´t care to shamelessly use stand-ins to keep it stock only, as it is intended to be just a template in its "Phase 1" EDIT: For somebody better at English than me...if "To Boldy Go" is gramatically OK, "To Shamelessly use" is correct? I´m not sure -
F-22A chases off Iranian F-4s

The Royal Guard is an interservices unit wich garrisons the royal palaces, provides escort and security, deploys overseas as an elite security force and serves as a representative and honor guard unit of the armed forces as a whole. It includes, besides different service details, three companies, (Marines, Army and Air Force Security) It is the only unit of the armed forces with the "Royal" branding. In fact, opposite to many other countries, despite Spain being a Kingdom, we tend to avoid using "Royal" out of looking British-like. (A healthy traditional rivalry is not bad)

F-15C also gets rumored for the scrap yard.....
macelena replied to MigBuster's topic in Military and General Aviation
F-15Cs are kind off obsolescent by modern standards. Sure, they can still kick ass, but with budget troubles, it is not worth to keep a second line fighter (wich it is since the Raptors toke over) wich cannot be used for mud pounding, when not even the Raptors have found use yet. Yes, i agree that it may be hindsight to some extents, but i don´t think they are worth the spending in the current economic and military situation. Other aircraft can cover the gap and still be more useful. About the A-10, despite all the drones and PGMs, i think it is quite worth keeping. You might say that the same reasoning above applies, but right now, the mission they perform is more critical than that performed by the F-15Cs. You can attach AMRAAMs to an F-16, or make do with few Raptors, but you can´t find something that covers the role of the A-10 as it is needed -
I´M FUCKING THRU!!! Passed all the tests with highest qualifications, going to be a Royal Guard Airman!!!!

Active shooter incident reported at Washington Navy Yard
macelena replied to MAKO69's topic in The Pub
Not willing to get this to the topic of gun legislation, but this comes to prove that it is not a matter of harder gun laws, but to enforce those you have already. The guy should have never been able to get the guns, let alone a job and clearance to the facility. A paperwork mess or maybe even a legal loophole may have been the difference wich could have prevented this from happening. Not that anything will bring back the people being mourned today. All that is left is to hope for the wounded to recover and the families of those killed to get over their losses the best way they can. -
Active shooter incident reported at Washington Navy Yard
macelena replied to MAKO69's topic in The Pub
Why not? This shit happens every once in a while. Even if it is not the classic spree shooting (wich it seems to be) there is no place safe from violence to erupt, and innocents wich couldn´t imagine this happening to them not coming home ever again. Hope they nail all of them soon. -

In fact, they were originally G airframes, adapted for taking the new engines. Pilots said it was a beast. -

There were some tuned like that for Patton. On the other hand, for Iron Eagle 3 they had a non-bubbletop P-51 posing as a Me-109
