  1. Target: Invincible

It doesn´t take a conspiracy. Just OPSEC or things like that. The British don´t need to report in real time where are their ships and what they are doing with Exocets flying by. If there is no further info, it may be more related to how they don´t need to let anybody know about how do you keep such OPSEC. The pilots kept claiming they hit the carrier for many years, so my guess is they somehow mistook a big squared ship engulfed in flames for another while flying at around 50 ft and 500 kts taking fire, on bad weather after hours of flight
  2. There are eels on my beach!

That reminds me of an story of my father and his father in law (my grandad, RIP) when i was a child. They went fishing to the "Minor Sea", wich is basically a salt lagoon near here communicating with the Mediterranean. My dad, from whom i inherited a large pool of goofism genes, caught a conger eel wich wasn´t supposed to be there due to the high salt levels, but it wouldn´t just stay put and tried to bit them both, so he got a hammer from the car and chashed around him until he finished the fish. Told for laughs and memoirs from time to time. Lessons learned: Eels are a dreadful enemy, but nothing you can´t solve with a hammer.

Bueno, hubiese sido una lástima usarlos de blanco en polígonos de tiro.

  8. Got it. While all are great additions, the zippers kick ass. Agile, hot tempered, death ray with the M61...I had trouble for gun kills as i´m temporarely without a joystick (wich is why i don´t fly propeller driven aircraft, can´t compensate the torque well) but it was awesome to go on a rodeo with one of those ponies and shot down migs with the gun as long as i could keep it straight. Btw, about the FM...IIRC, Starfighters were quite sluggish in modded installs compared to the stock ones...wich one is correct? Is the modded FM made this way to prevent spins or something? I heard the 104s were quite agile, if unstable and unforgiving, and this fits better with the behaviour of stock FM, but i read criticism towards this as well: "They are just like smaller Thunderchief" or something like that. And USAF versions are even more agile and unstable than F-104Gs and CF-104s EDIT: As an example -First mission: 1967, 4 F-104C escort 8 F-100D into North Vietnam. 4 MiG-21 appear. After merging, we engage the MiGs while the Huns go ahead (i know, bad idea, there could be more MiGs along the way) While one of them turns into firing position for a missile shot, i do a hard turn. My aircraft rolls inverted, but i manage to recover it. I lead the target and spray into his way with the gun, tearing his port wing off. I fly into another wich is chasing my No3. I shoot an AIM-9 when i get tone, 1.5 miles behind him. Before the winder hits, i´m warned of a missile against me, so i pitch up and right. The Atoll flies meters beside me, already spinning after the evasive maneuver, into the trail of my winder, wich already hit his MiG. I go down from around 16000 ft to almost 2000ft, when i finally level with the horizon. My chasing MiG managed to stay on my tail all the way down. I fly as fast as i can, leaving him behind in an smooth turn, when my wingie puts a Sidewinder into his tailpipe. The other element already downed the 4th MiG. If that isn´t awesome, i don´t know what is.
  9. Cockpits of other mirage DLCs could have been used for the arab mirages, and an F-104 pit could have been updated from the 1st gen. This would have meant more DLCs, and more money. I guess TW people do what they can at the moment.
  10. AFAIK, they were retired from service before the end of the 1948 war, so i don´t think so. Only combat props in the IDF AF by 1956 were Mustangs and Harvard/Texans, IIRC
  11. I think so, F-104s should appear in 1962 Germany campaign, replacing F-100 units...but those units would become non flyable...dunno
  12. Thanks for all the effort Eric, this is a great site you allowed to exist, and i´m sure we all appreciate it.
  13. Target: Invincible

While it is weird that the Invincible ceased operations and such, and i guess there had to be something wrong with her, if she was hit and as screwed as it was said, yet there is no further evidence, the brits are masters at keeping things secret. It could have been fixed, people could have been made to shut up for all this time, and deaths be attributted to other causes, but all of the former? and why? I don´t think the Argentine pilots are lying, but there must be another explanation other than the british hiding a fact like that when they have no practical reason for it, as far as i understand.
  14. i don´t know, but i´ve been flying a couple of missions with the N and i could do things wich, while were OK with the J, would have sent me into a spin or stall or something with a B. I once put the FM stats of the F-4J stabs in the older F-4N and i had the same results as now, only with the older, slotless lod Anyway, don´t take it too seriously, as i´m not sure about how it works, it might be a placebo effect, but it felt more forgiving to sudden, several G turns with drastic losses of speed than a B model
  15. Stabs slotted for the F-4N, handles better now, i made a hard turn wich would have made the B spin and stood well. No dropping ailerons, however.
  16. for Vietnam, there is a complete pack by eburguer with the wich you wouldn´t need to mod anything else as it includes pretty much everything. There are some mods and mission wich are also easy to install, just look at the readme and drop files where due. The campaign customizer is a DLC by TW. Its use is not much if you have just one title or get mods as needed. Indeed, it is not much useful as you can edit the campaign with ease. The second expansion, for Europe, includes a mission editor, wich is much more useful. However, if you don´t have either sf2e or exp2, you can download it as a DLC as well for 10$
  17. Brave young Woman

Apparently it took longer than just cut it clean, didn´t they have her on video saying that or something?
  18. Just as he said. If you like USN planes, SF2V is the way to go. It is my favourite, together with SF2I, for historical backgrounds and such. Also, combining SF2V with SF2NA makes the later much more interesting, with USN Phantoms, the Crusaders, CVA-63s, et cetera.
  19. F-15 down in the Pacific

If the pilot is OK, it is good enough. However, i would bet my skin on no more Raptors produced. There should have been more, but i´m afraid there aren´t gonna be any more raptors now that they´ve stopped making them. F-35s will have to make do.
  20. Because that left me almost crying http://www.buzzfeed....rgarten-graduat Phoenix PD officer Daryl Raetz, 29 year old Iraq veteran got struck and killed by a car during a traffic stop. His 5 year old daughter graduated from kindergarten 3 days later.
  21. When your RWR needs patching, do it. SAMs 6&8 and later Floggers love outdated RWRs
  22. Brave young Woman

Great chick, hope she gets the best of life for her
  23. Main role of the F-15E?

It was at the time of the Balkan Wars. Nowadays, i guess most times it would be drones with Growler support or something like that
  24. Killer Tornado hits OK city

As allways in such tragic events, let´s hope the death toll stays as low as possible, and that the people harmed in one way or another gets to be as well as they can. It must have been terrifying. Specially sad for the kids in the school.
  25. Main role of the F-15E?

I think of it as the phantom during the late 70s. Long range, good for A-G, still good for A-A...
