Once upon a time, James Stewart was about to spend a night in a 5 star Hotel in Madrid. The receptionist told him "I´m sorry Mr. Stewart, i´ve been a longtime fan of your films, and i wish i could serve you a room, but it is the policy of the Hotel not to host film stars to prevent reporters disturbing the guests." Jimmy Stewart drew his papers and showed his USAF ID "But i´m not an actor, i´m a General of the United States Air Forces". From then on, he had a suite reserved for him anytime he was in the city

The Alpha Strikes on the Soviet BattleGroup are quite easy, possibly related to me moving a battleship led squadron into their fleet with the Mission Editor I have quite a mod light install, and got no bugs except for the screen freezing the first time i played -

I guess i´m pretty much one of the last to notice about that. Just in case i´m not. There are certain aircraft wich, once made flyables, appear in campaign, such as the A-6E in 1979 Operation Northern Sabre There are others wich appear in a campaign if you add a 3d party mod, like A-4Ns in the 1982 lebanon war. I just extracted Red Lightning (Europe 79) data and found several units meant to use aircraft instead of what they have currently, i.e: --81 TFS, wich flies F-4D_78s, would get "F-4C Wild Weasel", to be replaced as the campaign moves on by "F-4G Wild Weasel" --Other examples, this time with the RAF are Jaguar1 and Buccaneer2, being replaced ingame by F-4Ms or Canberras. If Canberras weren´t available, with an expansion, the same formula would have made them be B-57Bs. Same applied to the Lightning F6, being covered with Phantoms. --Same with Belgians. Mirage 5BAs were to be supplanted by Mirage5Fs. Russians were to have some current Su-7 and MiG-27 replaced by Su-17, East German MiG-21Ms by MiG-21MFs, Polish MiG-17s by Lim-6bis To put it short. Since many of those entries have applied airccraft wich were later released in Expansions or DLCs, i think it is fair to assume that there are a few more aircraft scheduled, having them finally released is another deal, but hey, it´s something -
Russian soldiers/pilots in Vietnam?
macelena replied to MAKO69's topic in Military and General Aviation
It´s a kill, not as shiny as a head on gun burst thru the windglass, but a kill. It is clear that the communist countries, at least before the sino-russian split, worked together against any western country, wether Korea, Vietnam or the Middle East. Despite the outcome, it didn´t work that bad. The VPAF made an epic job against the most powerful assembly of air forces in decades, with the help of Soviets, Koreans and Chinese. The Air Defense network set up by the communists in Syria and Egypt had the best tactical air force ever in serious trouble since the War of Attrition until the Lebanon War. Who knows the bloodshed avoided by the Camp David agreements. In the end, the massive and coordinated "strategic" oriented firepower of the US in Vietnam and the shocking blows of the IDFAF made them win (technically, the US won the war over Vietnam with Linebacker I&II) -

I know, and most models would be hard to implement, but at least it´s a good sign, as the formula is the same and some of those have already been included in the game -
Knox class trouble
macelena posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
I´ve been trying to use the Knox class standing in for the Baleares class frigates as an escort for the carrier "Dédalo". I edited the INIs, including nations, service dates, names, skins, etc. Even listed it as a destroyer and cruiser, as those seem to be the only types appearing in single mission carrier groups. However, i didn´t get it to work. Having done the same to Gearing FRAMs into the Churruca class, all the ships i get escorting the carrier are the Churruca FRAMs. Checked everything, names, data entries, spelling...all of them seem to be fine. I tried to change the original knox into "destroyers" and see them appear in US battlegroups, however, the results are the same. Anybody knows how could this be solved? -

RF-8G(77) (NA only) f-105G (linebacker I & II) -
Questions about Strike Fighters 2 original

Not worthy, get SF2NA when you can/want, but there is nothing really lost without SF2 if you have the other titles -
Knox class trouble
macelena replied to macelena's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
I don´t know, ie, when i had Iowa class BBs listed as Battleships, they appeared, at least in their own BBBGs in Iceland, but never in a CVBG. When classed them as cruisers, they appear as escorts in the carrier battlegroups. What was weird about it, is that copying a Gearing and making the edits work just fine while the same exact solution doesn´t work with Knox ships. But the very same trouble appears when setting the knox frigates as destroyers for them to appear with US groups. I don´t think the sim neglects to recognize it as another ship, but it is like something preventing the model to appear as a destroyer no matter how it is classified in the DATA ini So far, i only had Cruisers and Destroyers to appear in Battlegroups, apart from campaign, in wich frigates show up escorting the landing forces. -

What do you think Mirage F1 title will add?

AFAIK, yes -
Jasc, si vas a seguir adelante con el PdA, recuerda cubrirte las espaldas ante cualquier problema de propiedad intelectual, al menos estate seguro de que no utilizas material de otros sin su consentimiento expreso

What do you think Mirage F1 title will add?
macelena replied to Stratos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Well, Mirage F1 for the Armee de´l Air integrated in the 79 campaign, and i guess as Dhimari, maybe the CZ as a DLC. My bet would be the Super Mystere or Thunderstreak made flyable, despite the F-5 would be great for the scenarios given, the formers have already a 3D and flight model. Of course, as enemy aircraft MiG-25 or Su-17 would be quite fitting for the late 70s scenario being a triad as the MiG17-19-21 were a decade before, but that would be pretty optimistic. Despite i´m sure that Exp3 will be out, i´m not sure that it will arrive in schedule nor there will be any further continuation to the series. I feel this dream is about to be gone, not because of quality nor anything, but the attitude in the developer and the community. -

Here it is, add to the Clem-65 ini Add to the Data Ini Add as an ini named "Clem_names.ini" EDIT: Those are the basics, still have to get parked aircraft, and edit the terrains so it appears as default home base for french navy aircraft. I used tha Ark Royal to learn how to make it work -

Venting and Ranting
macelena replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
It is weird that you are having that. I put the settings on hard, yet both in campaign and single missions, one out of four AIM-7F launched from F-4Js hits a "hard" target, that being a bomber loaded with ECMs, and against MiGs is just as effective as it was. Something i found quite effective against bombers is salvo launching, but your description of the trouble seems a different problem -
Interested in DLC Argentine A-4 's ?
macelena replied to Crusader's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I´ve been wondering why there wasn´t an Argentine Skyhawks DLC, but then you could say why not Daggers (Argentine Nesher), and then why not A-7P and H, or any of the multiple Phantoms and Mirages wich are missing but fitting stock models, USMC and Spanish Harriers, Danish late Huns, etc... -
It´s almost as hilarious as when my uncle, wich grew dogs, helped to arrest a dogfighting ring. One of the a$$holes got shot in the foot by the cops when resisting and his dog almost tore the wound before they could separate them. Shamefully, the dogs had to be sacrificed
