My dad and grandad allways told me, all day and all night, how dangerous are weapons, and how careful and responsible must i be to handle one. Pretty much what anyone would say to his son-grandson. And now, i find this:

Coolest, funniest, worst callsign/s you've ever heard!
macelena replied to xclusiv8's topic in The Pub
Freely translated form Spanish, a flight instructor known as "Pukes" who told me about another one, last of his class, CN-235 pilot "Insurance Inc" by companions and "Widowf***er" by paras. In English, a Tomcat driver, Captain Rick Ludwig "Wigs". Indeed, i think his aircraft featured a loading screen of TMF Tomcat. Fictionally, "Boxman" from "Flight Of The Intruder" or "Longhorn" from "Behind The Enemy Lines" -
The trouble is not the cause. The crime is. In example, here the basque extremists want to create a feudal state including no only the basque country, but also Navarre and part of France. It is no trouble, just freaks. I won´t jail nor hate anybody for that. But killing civilians? children whose fault is to be sons and daughters of military? A 70 y/o business man who was involved in high speed railways to conect the basque country with the remainder of Spain and a former socialist councillor who worked expending highway tickets. Terror is soo regardless of politics. It is not an engagement in wich the Ts are justified by a political cause and act according to it. Any act directed at achieving any goal by killing innocents, breaching the peace and "terrorizing" is terrorism, and a crime regardless of the cause. I remember an anticastrist who put a bomb in a cuban airliner, killing all those aboard. While i think that Castro´s being still in power is a shame not only for Cuba, there is no way bto justify engaging anybody who is not a threat.

Aim-7 Sparrow in WOV
macelena replied to Lt. James Cater's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
You should also consider that we know the limitations the Sparrow had, and we are more restrictive with the fire parameters with the wich we would fire. Since we are not putting our lives on the line, we take it much easier. Also, remember that you can fire it BVR, while in Vietnam the pilots had to engage quite closer, cutting down a significant portion of the missile envelope. About the GP on the Phantom, i´m kind of obsessed with range, i use to load as many tanks as possible. I loiter longer, and pick more carefully the targets for Sparrows. The increase in performance of the Sparrow is worth what i would do with the guns in a Phantom. That being said, i usually prefer to fly a Navy Style Phantom (i like the RAF versions a lot, indeed) than an F-4E -
Happy Birthday Sir!

Se pueden decir cosas negativas respecto al Liberator, pero no que fuera frágil.

Many of us got troubles like this, Stary. We get over it sooner or later I remember my own. Got depressed. Maybe embitterned would be more accurate. I felt no simpathy for anybody. I saw no reason to live the way i allways wanted to live, and any other way seemed ashaming. I left anything, studies, relationships, et cetera, i didn´t care about anything. Once, i almost got hit by a SUV while crossing a street, and in a moment in the wich i was sure it would kill me, i mean as certain as the facvt that i´m writing this, i didn´t feel fear, nor shame for not living, just curiosity about how it would be, even when i´m what most people would call an atheist, nothing about afterlife nor anything. Fortunately, like a miracle, it braked down and stopped less than 30 cms (a feet, in imperial measures) from me. I got drunk , heavily. Once and again. Started to smoke. At a time, i got severely drunk in the flat of a friends. One of the flat mates saw me puking on the floor, caught my neck and tried to drive me out of the apartment. I hit him, i gave no damn about anything. As i was bigger than him, about 20cm (8 inches) taller and 20 Kgs (40 pounds) heavier, i took him down despite how drunk i was. Fortunately the people there took us apart. For a moment i saw him lying on the floor, his eyes open, i thought i had delivered severe damage to him, left him impaired, or even killed. What i felt at that moment, that terror and shame, is what kicked me up. Again, luckily he was OK, at least better than what i had initially feared. In the end, i found again a meaning for living in a honorable way. I´ve got the priviledge of having friends wich i would trust anytime, anywhere. I met my girlfriend, who may become my wife with the time. I didn´t give up smoking, nor drinking, but i haven´t got drunk since the beating in the apartment. I got back to my studies, passing my subjects. I had tought of joining the military once graduated from university, but i changed my priorities and will get into law enforcement. Basically, what i mean is that you get over it, you life is allways a bit different, leaves marks, scares, wich are a sign of seniority. You may find what you need on others. You will get out of the s**t. Join a clinic or anything, i think that acknowledge of your troubles is the first and harder step. Look for help, you are to get fine

If you haven´t got enough with step 31, you still got step 46 lol...priceless, how did you find that?

I get what you mean, but you are wrong. The Balkans were a mess, but we had to do it. I´m not seeing it black and white, i think that both sides were fighting a war in the fashion of the Russians and Germans in WWII, so we had to stop it. I was told by vets that Bosnians and Croats were as ruthless as the Serbians. We stopped it. Maybe it didn´t get out well, but at least there are no more killings. Anyway, the Yugoslav Air defence was really good at the time, a hell of an air defence, as i´ve heard. And cowardice wouldn´t be the word. If you were in command of anything, your obligation would be to accomplish your mission AND bring your men back home, as many as you can. About shock and awe, i just passed an International Law exam, we shall discuss it in other place.

NF4+ problem
macelena replied to crl848's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Well, i din´t get the expansion, and althought i´ve been told that the exp2 patch would work without it, i just got the latest patch for SF2E before the expansion and all the files of NF, (all those labeled with the NATO insignia in the downloads section) and it works just fine. But before you reinstall and do it all again, why don´t you check the graphic settings? -

news flash from the desert
macelena replied to KnightWolf45's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Mirage III retired since 1991; 1997 in France. AV-8B 1987-2003, AV-8B+ 1995-present, RF-4C 1978-2002. Italian AV-8B+ since 1995, i don´t know about F-104S,Tornado ADV or F-16 ADF. Check AMX too, if possible. I thought we were going to a present day campaign, but 1991 or 1995 would be OK too. Btw, we could add Greece and Portugal (F-16 or A-7?), along with Italy and Spain in some NATO reponse force, I´ll have to check. Another point is, i think there are too many planes involved, and some too old. We should cut a few out. I´m all in for the chinese aircraft, but this should be in a more modern date. Late 2000s. (I mean 2005-2010, not 2094) -

Cool idea. Maybe some terrain editing, such as nuclear facilities, could be interesting. Btw, could we get carriers for Italy, Spain and France? -
Nuclear Weapons
macelena replied to GunnySonics's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Well, huh, i remember the first time i tried to drop a nuke from a level flight B-52 at 40.000 feet without the sights...target was an airbase, i killed nothing. Quite a good CEP of mine. -
Poll: Choose the next SF2 Expansion Pack plane!
macelena replied to Crusader's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Something quite easy would have been to bring back the 104, make flyable the Mirage5 and MirageIIIC, and the F-16 for Europe, this wouldn´t take much work, would it? -
