Indeed. I think much of it is about giving them all AESA radar, it was about time. I must admit i had no clue myself. People were debating wether it would be F-35s for both the Navy and Air Force, or Typhoons to replace all Hornets. I'm somewhat hopeful they will still replace Hornets in the mainland (Torrejon and Zaragoza) with F-35s, 6th Gen would be Ok to start replacing Eurofighters.
The priority was retiring the Hornets from the Canary Islands, if Morocco turned violent, their newest F-16s would be a serious trouble. The more we keep the balance in our favour, the fewer issues they are willing to cause, and we've been lagging a little bit lately.

So I'm converting from cannon fodder into electronics technician, and while on a class on Radar, I asked my instructor (equivalent to CWO or SgtMaj) about how could you emit and recieve CW with the same antenna in fighters while painting a target, while discussing the topic of waveguides. Apparently, he didn't feel like telling me to shove anything up into my intestines, so he told me to look after it, which I had already been trying to, but to no avail. Have you got any info or link to learn about this? Not just so i don't look like an idiot with my boss, but I'm really curious about it, and didn't really understand it fully from what i got googling it.
Edit: Forgot to mention, I was thinking about how the AWG-10 did it on Phantoms. I read it used an illuminator, but i don't know if it used the same antenna and how

I think I read somewhere that SA-3s were the mysterious "SAM-X" but i thought it was a rumour, could you link something to read more about it?

As much as North Vietnam recieved support from other communist countries, they really didn't get as much new stuff as, for example, Arab countries.
So...What if by 1972, the USSR went all in and sent as much gear as they did to Arab countries?
Such as SA-6s, SA-3s, ZSU-23-4s, Komar class missile boats and even more...intense aircraft? (say, Yak-28s, Tu-22s, MiG-25s...)
I mean, rather than the ramifications out of the country, how do you think Linebacker would have gone had they set up all those capabilities in place

2 hours ago, Crusader said:Yep, they used K-14 (UK GGS) type reticle. The closed (also broken) circle can be blanked out leaving only the + mark.
The circle is used for aim-off in the bombing mode (and in the caged sight mode), the diamonds reticle for rocket mode.
I have made a improved Hunter sight of that type some time ago, based on some UK manual or doc.The A-4 sight in the F-100 has a 10-diamonds reticle, have made one as well , update for the F-86's and the F-100 too.
Already in Dec. 2012Thanks a lot, will try as soon as possible

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is doing final assembly in Japan if i read correctly.
it only took them 80 years to work on a new naval fighter
To be fair, these have been some intense 80 years

I think the site is still working, but it has been so long I don't know about my own password. Give them a try and have a little patience, but contact them. Both sites work on their own.

Armies that pretend to be companies, companies that pretend to be an Army...it is quite the catch

Having no clue in general about tanks, from what I've gathered, I think the loopsided casualty figures are not so much about western tanks being that much better, but about better comms, info, crew training and coordination with air support.
From what I've heard, Leclerc tanks have the best of both worlds. but I'm not so sure if they got APS of some kind, that seems to be the standard to look forward to.

Fastest click in quite a while on a Youtube vid when i saw it pop up yesterday, yet it it was even better than I expected. I had read the story about the incident but didn't know about the efforts to get him proper recognition, hope the upgrade comes through, it is long overdue.

In Spain, recruitment ads used to go by "Armed Forces, the value of a professional"
The unofficial saying, which rhymes in Spanish (ABCB) , was something like "If you want to kill yourself, don't jump off a bridge, get into the infantry, and die a bit everyday"

I was low key concerned you were one of the three people that downloaded my dirt cheap edit and it was my fault.

I don't think it is that simple, but from what I've seen, the UK and the EU remain pretty close in defense issues, if anything the UK has been quite proactive since Brexit. While there is a bias towards European defense industries, and lately even more so, I don't think Brexit will affect it as much.

Alright, I might get DCS too after all. Btw, if can be spoken about, does it come with its own cockpit?

Sweden and the Italians are in too. Saab, Bae and Fiat, while with the other Euro 6th Gen you have EADS/CASA and Dassault. Half the EF2000+the Gripen on one side, and the othe half of the Typhoon + Rafale on the other. Both should be viable. While at first sight i think it would be better if all 6 countries cooperated, i guess having 2 alternative models in case one doesn't work is not that bad.

I padlock the target then press F4 to stare at it, the only issue is on SEAD missions since you don't have as much of a clue if the target is meant to be a primary or not.

I won't be able to let this game go and get into DCS or Il-2 if you guys keep doing stuff like this

Sorry, I'm a caveman and can't help, but, in the first pick of the last post, taken from below, are those droptanks in the centerline and inner wing pylons? I don't think I've ever seen anything like that

1979, West Germany, On my nth mission in a row as a bomb truck in a Phantom without seeing any MiGs before F-15s eat them up "That Shilka is looking at me funny, how about i go for a head on strafing run?"

16 hours ago, Apokapo said:It happens on all aircraft (a-7, f-14, mod f-14, etc), it allows me to change the gun ammo and i can select the guns in flight, but when i press the trigger on my joystick it does not shoot. I tried resetting the key bindings but it didnt worked.
Then i would suggest you try with what daddyairplanes and Gatling20 said. It might still be something else, keep telling about it if so.

I hope this game went on Steam years ago and got a cult following which allowed it to get all the stuff referenced in the files, or all the stuff available to the War Thunder guys without having to spend half my life and mortgaging my sister's long gone virginity to a Gulf Sheik to pay for bonuses to unlock aircraft.
They remind me of these guys who spend their lives on gyms and get all buffed up. I envy them for their bodies, but then i imagine what they went through, then i think of doing it myself, I feel sorry about them and then I go back to my usual life of laziness and procastrination. I don't remember the last time i did any exercise i wasn't paid to do.

I had the gutfeeling that Su-17/20/22s seemed better for CAS and the MiG-23BN/27 looked more suited for interdiction and attacking targets beyond the front, thanks a lot for your replies

They claimed Omicron was much less lethal yet more contagious. If so, i guess that would be acceptable. I just made it home with my parents from the academy, went to get tested before, and the doctor smoked me, since having no symptoms nor having had any confirmed contact, i was mean to be safer. It was the same back in summer, and turns out I had Delta and had my parents a couple of weeks isolated. We had 6 deaths that day on my city, 5 of them vaccinated, which still makes it better than being unvaxxed considering the proportion of people who had the jab, but it is a bad sign.
